'Kabali' livery for AirAsia aircraft

As reported, veteran producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is executing unique promotional campaigns for Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali. The film’s official airline partner AirAsia has launched a new aircraft bearing the pictures of Rajinikanth’s look in Kabali.

 Apparently, AirAsia is planning to fly this special flight from Bangalore to Chennai with a special combo pack, which includes Kabali movie ticket, Kabali merchandise and Rajinikanth’s favorite lunch for passengers.

 “We are delighted to partner with one of the most awaited movies of the year and overwhelmed by the kind reception we’ve received from our guests and fans on the association. This special plane, powered by Thalaivar quite literally, is dedicated to Rajini fans across the globe”, said Amar Abrol, CEO, AirAsia India.

Officials from AirAsia informed us that the aircraft will also be flying across various destinations including Bangalore, New Delhi, Goa, Pune, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Guwahati, Imphal, Vizag and Kochi.

'Kabali' Malay version to release on July 29

Although Kalaipuli S Thanu is yet to officially announce the release date for the Tamil version of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, the film’s Malaysia distributor Malik Streams has splashed posters and hoardings across his country by announcing the release date of Malay version as July 29.

Apparently overseas distributors were informed that the film will be releasing on July 22 but one can expect official announcement from Thanu only after the film completes the censor process.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, a source close to the unit tells us that the movie has glorified working class community and has shades of Thalapathy and Baashha.

Kabali also has Radhika Apte, Dhanshikaa, Dinesh, Kalaiyarasan, John Vijay, Nassar and Rithvika in important roles. Meanwhile, Fox Star India has snapped the Hindi dubbing rights of Kabali from Thanu.

Buzz around 'Kabali' gets bigger!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali is definitely the most eagerly awaited film in the world.  The film, at the time of writing is yet to be censored, but as per official sources it will happen in the next 24 hours.   

Producer Kalaipuli Thanu told  “ I will officially announce the release date, once we get the censor certificate in hand.”

As per sources, the censor certification of the film will be complete by July 12 (Tuesday) and a release date will be firmed up immediately.

The buzz is that Kabali in three languages – Tamil, Telugu and Hindi will release worldwide on July 22. The Malai version will release will only on July 29.

 The buzz is so huge around the film that it will release in approximately 4000 screens in three languages, worldwide. The idea is to go for a wide release and  carpet bomb the screens, to get maximum collections at the earliest.

 The trade feels Kabali will get a solo release in all languages in India, if it hits the screens on July 22. Already Fox Star Studios have advanced the India release of the their tentpole animation film Ice Age 5 by a week from July 22 to July 15. Similarly in Hindi and regional languages no biggie is releasing on that date.

Meanwhile it is official that PVR Cinemas, the biggest multiplex chain in India will be the official multiplex partners of Kabali. PVR will be playing all three versions of the Rajinikanth film in a large number of screens in their properties across India.

'Kabali' censored with ‘U’ certificate

Superstar Rajinikanth’s most awaited Kabali has been censored with clean ‘U’ certificate. Earlier today (July 11), censor board officials watched the film and appreciated the team for making an entertaining yet meaningful film. 

According to sources, the film’s total running time is 152 minutes and from Wednesday leading newspapers will carry the brand new advertisement with the release date, July 22nd.

Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Kabali will be simultaneously releasing in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi and soon, censor for the rest of the versions will also be happening in coming days.

Ranjith of Madras fame has directed the film, which also has Radhika Apte, Dhanshikaa, John Vijay, Nassar, Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan in pivotal roles.

Revolutionary message in 'Kabali'?

The teaser cut of Kabali gives away a feel that it will be a racy action entertainer but our sources say that the film has a solid message and high emotional quotient. We also hear that the film will have thought provoking dialogues on the working class, which we also witnessed in director Ranjith’s previous film Madras.

In Kabali, Rajinikanth essays the role of a rubber estate worker in Malaysia, who becomes a gangster to save Tamil folks in the country and eventually lose touch with his wife and family. After a brief hiatus, how the same Malaysian country and powerful gangsters treat Kabali and how he finds a way to reunite with his family members is said to be the crux of the story.

Sources say that the young Rajinikanth will come only for fifteen to twenty minutes and remaining portions of the film will only showcase him as the aged don. It is said that the film has enough mass moments to satisfy Rajinikanth fans but there is a strong story too, which will be the major highlight!

400+ screens for Kabali in USA

CineGalaxy Inc, popular US distributors who have earlier released two successful 1 million$ Tamil films—’24’ and Theri is holding the distribution rights of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali. 

Talking about the release plans, spokesperson of CineGalaxy says that they are planning to release both the Tamil and Telugu versions of Kabali in nearly 400 screens and depends upon the demand, the screen count will be increased further.

CineGalaxy is also releasing the Hindi version of Kabali, which will be out in US screens on July 28 whereas the premieres for Tamil and Telugu version will be on July 21. Meanwhile, expectations are sky rocketing for Kabali in Tamil Nadu and almost all the screens in the state are likely to screen the film.

 In the neighbouring Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh/Nizam states, distributors have put their respective language films on hold and priority has been given to the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer.

Paid premieres of 'Kabali' in Chennai?

Generally, big budget Tamil films do not have premieres in Tamilnadu. 

In recent times, the makers of Suriya’s 7aam Arivu had arranged for paid premieres in Chennai theaters but most of the producers avoid having early premieres to control the negative word of mouth.

But if sources are right, Kabali producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is planning to hold a paid premiere in Chennai and few theaters in the interior Tamil Nadu on July 21st that the very first show  will be happening in the heart of Kollywood.

Directed by Ranjith, the makers of the film are confident with the output and the expectations are already sky rocketing, thanks to the superbly cut teasers and the swag look of Superstar Rajinikanth as aged don!

Kabali piracy:Thanu files petition in Chennai HC

As a precautionary measure, Kabali producer Kalaipuli S Thanu has filed a petition in Chennai High Court to block 180+ piracy websites across the globe, which are constantly spreading pirated version of Tamil films.

 The petition actually requests the Court to direct Telecom Regulatory Authority of India should instruct all the major Internet Service Providers to block the listed torrents and websites. Earlier, maverick director Mani Ratnam followed the same strategy to curb online piracy for his film, O Kadhal Kanmani and things were under control for few weeks, which had benefited the film.

Thanu has also included Tamil Nadu Anti Piracy cell in his petition and it looks like, the veteran producer is showing great interest in controlling the piracy for his film.

Three powerful women in 'Kabali', says director Ranjith

Ranjith, director of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated project Kabali has revealed that his film has three powerful female characters—Radhika Apte, Dhanshikaa and Rithvika. “I’m sure their strong performances will be liked by the audiences”, said Ranjith.

The director also says that he is scared about the promotions and has been asking his producers to play it subtly. “Expectations have been set, audiences are ready. Let’s not torture them with too much promotions”, says Ranjith.

 Talking about Rajinikanth’s arrival in Chennai, the director said “Rajini sir will be here on July 20th itself. He will be in the city during the release”. Ranjith has also said that he has researched a lot about the lifestyle of Malaysian Tamils and on what situation, they travelled from India, which has helped him to set a proper backstory for his film.

Kabali is all set to release on July 22nd in record number of screens!
