Get Relief From Itching



Apply some sandlewood oil mixed into some coconut oil or sesame oil and massage into the affected areas.

Apply the juice of lemon and juice of basil mixed together.

Apply turmeric mixed in mustard oil or coconut oil at the site of itching.

Remove 'dal' Fry Stains From Carpet



Boil two litres water and 250 g 'reetha' powder together for about 10 minutes. Filter through a muslin cloth. Put the decoction in a bottle, shake the bottle well and sponge in the foam that forms over it. Rub the stain with the sponge in a circular motion over the carpet. Wipe off with a wet cloth.

Dust on talcum powder on the stain and leave for a few hours. Then brush off the excess powder and iron lightly by putting a blotting paper under the stain.

Coffee myths busted



Coffee can lead to heart disease. Wrong! There is no grounds to support this idea, as long as coffee is drunk in some sort of limit. As a matter of fact, a study showed that over a period of 10 years, women who drank up to 6 cups of coffee a day did not show an increased risk for heart disease.

Coffee can lead to ulcers. Wrong! It thought that coffee contributed to increased stomach acid, the main reason of ulcers. So it was believed that coffee could be a cause of ulcers. Nevertheless, recently it was ascertained that ulcers are caused by a certain bacteria, and that these ulcers can be cleared up by the use the antibiotics.

When glass breaks, collect its small pieces on a piece of dough. The glass pieces will not prick your fingers.

If ghee turns rancid, heat it agina adding a few drumstick leaves in it. Bring it to boil, cool and strain. It will smell fresh once again.

Wash the soft toys with a mild baby shop or baby shampoo. Gently squeeze out the water and lay the toys out to dry on a towel. Rub stubborn stains gently with an old toothbrush.

Wash the soft toys in a liquid soap meant for delicate fabrics, and dry in the sun.

Put the soft toys in a pillow cover, seal it with a ribbon or rubber band and you can wash them with your other clothes in the washing machine. The toys will get clean and won't get damaged.
