The Elephant Who Forgot His Size 🐘

In the lush heart of the African savannah, where the rivers sang and the baobab trees whispered ancient tales, lived an enormous elephant named Mburu. His ears flapped like royal fans, his feet could shake the earth, and his trunk could pull down entire trees. But Mburu was not proud. In fact, he often walked with his head low, careful not to harm even the tiniest ant.
But one dry season, when the rains refused to fall and the grass turned to dust, animals became desperate. Food was scarce. Water, even scarcer.
The lion called a great meeting.
“We must dig a well,” he said, pacing before the crowd. “But we need someone strong to help us break the dry ground.”
All eyes turned to Mburu.
“You’re the biggest,” said the jackal.
“You’re the strongest,” said the zebra.
But Mburu backed away.
“I… I’m afraid I’ll hurt someone,” he stammered. “What if I step on a mole? What if I swing my trunk and hurt a child?”
The animals sighed. They chose to dig without him.
Days passed. The sun grew hotter. The hole barely grew. The animals grew weaker.
Then one evening, Mburu walked past the struggling group. He saw the lion panting, the monkey’s hands blistered, and the tortoise collapsed beside the pit.
Mburu’s heart trembled.
“This isn’t about me anymore,” he whispered.
With a mighty roar, he lifted his trunk and stomped into the hole. His feet broke the earth. His tusks scraped rock. In a single night, Mburu dug deeper than all the animals had in a week.
By dawn, water bubbled from the ground.
Cheers erupted. Mburu stood, muddy and tired, but smiling.
“I didn’t mean to wait this long,” he said.
The tortoise, weak but wise, looked up and said, “Even an elephant forgets his size when fear fills his heart. But courage reminds him.”
From that day on, Mburu no longer walked with his head down. He knew his strength was not a danger—but a gift, meant to serve others.

Moral Lessons:
1. Your strength is not a threat when it is guided by kindness.
2. Fear can make even the mighty feel small. But courage is remembering who you are when others need you.
3. True power is not in how big you are, but in how you use what you have to uplift others.
