A brilliant mind !
Stephen Hawking (1942-2018) was a renowned British theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author. He made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of the universe, despite being diagnosed with a debilitating motor neuron disease at age 21.

Early Life and Education:

Born on January 8, 1942, in Oxford, England, Hawking studied physics at the University of Oxford. He then pursued his Ph.D. in cosmology at the University of Cambridge.

Career and Contributions:

Hawking's work focused on:

1. Black Holes: He proposed that black holes emit radiation, now known as Hawking radiation.
2. Cosmology: Hawking, along with Roger Penrose, showed that the universe began as a singularity, supporting the Big Bang theory.
3. Quantum Mechanics: He worked on the intersection of quantum mechanics and general relativity.

Popular Books:

Hawking wrote several popular science books:

1. A Brief History of Time (1988) - a classic explaining complex concepts in simple terms.
2. The Universe in a Nutshell (2001)
3. The Grand Design (2010)

Awards and Honors:

Hawking received numerous awards, including:

1. Albert Einstein Award (1978)
2. Paul Dirac Medal (1988)
3. Presidential Medal of Freedom (2009)

Personal Life:

Despite being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Hawking defied the odds, living for more than 50 years with the disease. He relied on a speech-generating device for communication and was married twice.

Legacy:

Stephen Hawking's work and legacy continue to inspire scientists, students, and the general public. His contributions to our understanding of the universe are immeasurable, and his determination and resilience in the face of adversity serve as a powerful example.
