11 Common Skincare Mistakes To Avoid If You Have Oily Skin
« on: September 27, 2017, 09:23:19 AM »
When it comes to skincare, it’s very important to understand that there are different types of remedies, because one poor choice of treatment or cream could have a negative effect. Here we tell you what you should avoid if you have oily skin.

1. Using very strong cleansers.

Sometimes, we think that the more oil we’re able to remove from the face, the better. To achieve this, we often end up using cleaning products that are far too strong. It isn’t a good idea because they strip the skin of its natural oils, thus leaving it unprotected and causing the buildup of more oil.

2. Removing pimples.

If you have oily skin, you probably have pimples appear from time to time. The problem is the way you get rid of them. Popping them leads to negative consequences, even leaving marks on the skin that are impossible to remove.

3. Using moisturizers that are too strong for the skin.

It’s important to pay attention to the ingredients in the products we use. This is because we can identify how certain products will react to our skin type. We recommend using gentle, oil-free moisturizing products and avoiding those that provide a deep hydration, which are designed for dry skin types only.

4. Always washing your face the same way.

Over time, we can see how our skin changes. That’s why the way we wash our face shouldn’t remain the same. For oily skin, exfoliating products are recommended that gently clean the pores and eliminate excess oil.

5. Sleeping with makeup.

This goes for all skin types. Sleeping with makeup leads to big problems, such as dull skin, blocked pores, pimples, and more.

6. Washing your skin too much.

Excessively washing the skin also brings about serious consequences. The skin dries out too much due to the loss of essential oils. This is counter-productive because the skin reacts by producing even more oil.

7. Using powder.

One strategy we employ to keep oil away is using powders that appear to neutralize that oily look and feel. However, using these powders more than twice per day can cause pores to become clogged.

8. Avoiding sunscreen.

A person with oily skin should never avoid using sunscreen. On the contrary, a sunscreen with a high protection factor is needed to protect the skin from the sun’s UV rays.

9. Aggressively rubbing the skin.

Excessive force irritates the skin. It has a similar effect to harsh astringents: It damages pores, forcing the skin to produce more oil.

10. Drinking milk.

When we drink too much milk, some hormonal imbalances occur that exacerbate the problem of oily skin.

11. Not looking after the skin.

Remember that in order to take care of the skin, it’s very important to use the right products for your particular skin type. It’s also crucial to maintain a healthy diet, and of course, drinking plenty of water.
