Italian scientists claim that black licorice helps to reduce body fat and the most incredible fact is that it has no bad side effects.





Licorice is typically used as an ingredient in sweets and mouth fresheners. It is made from Glycyrrhiza glabra that grows in the Mediterranean region. This plant contains an incredible chemical called glycyrrhizic acid. Be careful: consuming large amounts of this substance can cause health problems, including potassium loss and high blood pressure.




Italian researchers from the University of Padua say that moderate quantities of licorice have no side effects and help to lose weight. They explain that strong taste of licorice makes your body to eat less. In other words, licorice suppresses the appetite.





Although this study has shown surprising results, doctors around the world believe that it may be too soon to reach any conclusions. Licorice isn’t a panacea, so the best option is to maintain a healthy diet. Regular exercises are also helpful.
