You know the feeling like you have ants crawling on you and when your leg or your arm remains motionless in the same position. Either you are sitting or sleeping, this unpleasant feeling can happen to everyone. Have you ever wondered why we experience this sensation?

The tingling sensations are related to blood circulation and nerves irrigation. As is well known, oxygen travels in our body through the red blood cells that circulate in our vessels and arteries.

If you are in an awkward position, one of the vessels can be constricted, and then the blood flow can be slowed down. The sensory nerves perceive the slowing of the circulation and send a signal into the brain.

The brain reacts causing numbness of the compressed area. When circulation recovers, it takes some time for this disagreeable sensation to end. During this time, the nervous system remains disoriented and sends bursts of signals.
