However, many of us make the most of our time in the shower to wash all parts of our body, including the face. It sounds logical, but experts insist that it’s bad for our health.

Dermatologists recommend washing the face in the sink, because the temperature of the water in the shower tends to be hot and damages the skin. On the other hand, the temperature of the water in the sink is easier to control. The cold water stimulates circulation and closure of the pores.

While we’re in the shower, water makes direct contact with the face, which dehydrates and dilates the blood vessels, contributing to the appearance of uneven spots. Plus, it’s much easier for other products, such as shampoo or conditioner, to mix and end up on our face.

The more hot water we come into contact with, the more dehydrated the face becomes. In the sink, we use much less water. Next time you’re performing your beauty routine, remember to wash your face separately. Your skin will thank you for it.
