Aging is great. Not only do we get stronger and wiser, but we also learn tricks to make our lives easier, more practical, and healthier.
Unfortunately, not all of our habits help our body. For example, the way we sleep.
Many of us love sleeping on our sides, in a fetal position, or even leaning on our belly. Research points out that sleeping in these positions may harm the body and skin, causing deep wrinkles and fine lines on our chest.
In the guide below, we will show you some tips for keeping your body healthy and sleeping in the right position: on your back. Sleeping like this will help prevent and even slow down the wrinkle formation.
How do I get wrinkles?
First of all, wrinkles are a normal part of aging. However, they can form and increase due to weight loss, sun damage, facial expressions, dehydration, and the sleeping position.
Sleeping on your side, for example, will cause wrinkles to appear on the sides of your chest, in between your breasts, which will only worsen as you get older.
1. Put pillows under your arms
If you usually sleep on your side, it will be difficult to sleep the right way without help. With these pillows supporting your arms, you will not roll over to your side in your sleep. Of course this will take a while until you feel comfortable, but soon enough, you will no longer need the help of the pillows.
2. Place tall objects around you as a barrier
Another brilliant trick to keeping your body in the correct position at night is to place heavy, tall objects at your side. It could be stacks of clothes, for example.
3. Place pillows under the knees
Sleeping on your back is easier to hurt your muscles and nerves. That’s why it’s important to support your knees. Thus, place a cushion under your knees, which helps raising your legs and keeping a blood flow. In addition, this will help to align your spine and decrease lower back pain.
4. Use a towel to support your neck
Put something to support your neck and your head. Some people like to use a rolled-up towel or a thin pillow instead of a normal pillow.
5. Buy an anatomical pillow
They are designed to support the natural curve of your dimensions with special foam that fits the shape of your head and back. This is a good alternative to relax your tense muscles.
6. Choose the right mattress
Your transition to the best sleeping position would not be complete without a firm mattress. A mattress with not firmness causes pressure on your body, making your hips, joints, and knees tense. Moreover, it reduces your blood pressure.
7. Try a wrinkle-fighting bra
This type of bra supports the breasts during sleep. Made of Lycra or cotton, this bra goal is to keep your breasts separated and prevent them from squeezing when you sleep on your side.
8. Use a moisturizing cream
Using moisturizer on your breasts before bed and when you wake up helps prevent wrinkles. This is because dehydrated skin is more prone to developing wrinkles.
9. Avoid heavy meals
As a general rule, it is best not to eat too much caloric, greasy, and carbohydrate-heavy food at night. Especially, if it is before bed. All this food in your stomach will affect every part of your body at night, damaging even the elasticity of your skin.
