Built in the 18th century, the Siddhivinayak temple is situated in Mumbai, India. Siddhivinayak or Lord Ganesha is the main deity of the temple.

As Lord Ganesha is known as the ‘’remover of obstacles’’, the locals believes that one should worship in this temple before commencing any new work or assignments. Tuesday is when many visit the Siddhivinayak Temple as people believe it is for good luck.

Meenakshi Amman Temple, Madurai, India



The gigantic Meenakshi Amman temple is a remarkable example of Dravidian architecture and a significant symbol of Madurai, India. Meenakshi Amman temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati, who is also known as Meenakshi and her husband Lord Siva. In Madurai, Lord Siva is known as ‘’Sundareswarar’’.

A dip in the Golden Lotus tank located in the temple is believed to bring good luck and is usually done before visiting the main shrine. A legend mentions that the pond was created by Lord Siva and is even older than the temple itself.

Batu Caves, Malaysia



Situated inside a limestone cave, the Batu Caves Temple was constructed in 1890 by a Tamil trader, K. Thamboosamy Pillai.

Its annual Thaipusam festival, dedicated to Lord Muruga attracts over a million devotees and tourist every year. The temple is has one of the tallest statue of Lord Muruga, standing at a height of 42.7 meters.

Golden Temple, Amritsar, India



The Golden Temple, famously known as Harmandir Sahib, is the holiest shrine for the Sikhs. It is surrounded by a large tank which consist of ‘’Amrit or holy water. Pilgrims who visit the temple usually take a dip in the water, which is believed to possess special healing powers.

The temple was completed in 1604 and is made of white marbles and embellished with real gold, and thus the name, Golden Temple.

Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Jaffna, Sri Lanka



Crowned with a towering god-encrusted, golden-ochre gopuram the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple is one of the most famous Hindu shrines in Sri Lanka.

Located in the town of Nallur in the district of Jafna, Sri Lanka, the temple diety if Lord Murugan in the form of the holy Vel.  There are several shrines inside the huge temple and no fewer than 6 poojas daily.

Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal



The oldest temple of Kathmandu, the Pashupatinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.  It is one of the holiest Hindu temples and according to UNESCO, is a World Heritage Site.
 
Pashupatinath Temple is famous as many believe that one’s wishes get fulfilled here. During the 2015 earthquake that affected Nepal, several outer building of this shrine was affected but the main temple complex and the sanctum was not damaged.

Prambanan, Java, Indonesia



Prambanan or ‘Candi Prambanan' or ‘Candi Rara Jonggrang’ in Central Java is said to be one of the most beautiful Hindu temples around the world.

Pura Besakih or Mother Temple of Besakih is the largest and most sacred Hindu temple in Bali, Indonesia.
