10 Stunning Spots in Nature

Cut off from the rest of the world, surrounded by mountains, lakes or just a vastness of green moors and hills, wouldn't you love to be one with nature in one of these remarkable spots? Stunning all the way - here are a list of 10 of the most marvelous places in nature in the world.


1. Peak District, England



Peak District National Park, located in the upland area of England, became the country's first national park in 1951. The park offers breathtaking views and relaxing pastimes any outdoor-goer would enjoy - from cycling to walking to wildlife watching.

2. Benbulben in the Dartry Mountains in Ireland



Otherwise known as 'Table Mountain', Benbulben forms part of the Darty Mountains in Ireland. It was formed as a result of the different responses to erosion of the limestone. It hosts a unique variety of plants - some of which cannot be found elsewhere in Ireland.

3. Ellidaey Island, Iceland



Located off the southern coast of Iceland, is a beautiful archipelago called the Vestmannaeyjar. Within the archipelago is a beautiful island called Ellidaey, on which is a single, solitary mysterious cabin lays. In the past, much speculation has arisen on who the house belongs to, until it was discovered that the cabin is actually a shelter and sauna for a local hunting association, who use the cabin to hunt puffin.

4. Mount Shuksan, Washington



Mount Shuksan is one of the highest non-volcanic peaks in the Northwest of USA, standing tall at 9,127 feet. It is one of the most strikingly beautiful peaks in the country and one of the most heavily photographed mountains in the States. Mt Shuksan has a lot to offer for the aspiring mountaineer - including breathtaking hikes.

5. Song Köl, Kyrgyzstan



Song Köl is an alpine lake, located in northern Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan. It lies at an altitude of 3016m and has a breadth of almost 20km. It is fronted by lush summer pastures and the lake's water color changes from tropical turquoise to indigo in seconds, when the sun comes out.

6. The Fjords of Baffin Island



Baffin Island is the largest island in Canada, and the fifth-largest island in the world. It is the wintering ground for whales, walruses and seals and is also the nesting ground for millions of birds.

7. Olkhon Island on Lake Baikal in Russia



The surface of this beautiful island is green and smooth, covered with grass and aromatic plants. It's about 70km long and 15km wide and is the perfect spot to get away from civilization, to surround yourself with nature and to enjoy the peaceful views the lake has to offer.

8. Meteora Monastery in Greece



Meteora is truly inspiring, with a number of monasteries located in the sensational settings of overwhelming rock formations. Anybody who visits the area must also expect the trip to be more than just a visit to see exquisite landscape - it is a pilgrimage to a holy place for Christians. Initially, there were believed to have been 24 monasteries in the area, but only 6 of them have made it through the centuries.

9. Halstatt, Austria



Mountains, lakes, culture and a whole lot of nature have truly earned this village the right to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The views are absolutely breathtaking. For the adventurous out-goer, there's plenty to do here, with skiing and hiking taking center stage. This place is undoubtedly spectacular, so much so that the Chinese created a copy of this pretty village.

10. Gasadalur Village in the Faroe Islands



Gasadalur is one of 18 islands in the archipelago of the Faroe Islands, Denmark. The island is predominantly uninhabited because it is pretty hard to reach. To solve the problem though, a tunnel was built through the mountains in 2004, connecting Gasadalur to the main road network of Vagar island. One of its most remarkable sites is the splendid waterfall - a feature that many photographers love to shoot.
