Top 10 French Riviera Destinations

1. Monte Carlo   



Monte Carlo is a synonym of glamour, luxury, gambling and sun that attract many famous people from the world of music, cinema, business and royalty. Monte Carlo is the richest of the four quarters of Monaco. It is sometimes wrongly believed to be the capital of the small country. Formally, however, Monaco has no capital. Indisputable symbol of Monte Carlo is the great casino - Le Grand Casino, but this star of Monaco also includes the neighbourhoods of Saint-Michel, Saint-Roman/Tenao and the beach area Larvotto. In Monte Carlo is located one of the most famous tracks in Formula 1 and there the dangerous Monaco Grand Prix race takes place in which contestants go through the whole town. Monte Carlo is one of the most popular resorts in Europe. There you can see many sights as the Cathedral of Monaco, the Museum of Napoleon as well as the Great Theatre of Monte Carlo - Opera and Ballet House where are performed incomparable shows.

2. Nice   



Nice - the capital of the Cote d'Azur, is glamorous and attractive city the Alps keep from the cool winds. The beaches in Nice are rocky, but at the expense of a lot and most of them are endless, warm and clean as a tear. You will be captivated by the aroma and taste of olives, wine and juicy vegetables. There you will have the unique chance to dive into the turquoise Mediterranean or just to lie on the endless beaches enjoying a cocktail. In addition to that Nice has many nightclubs, hotels and avant-garde art galleries. Magnificent promenade is sandwiched between luxury hotels and beach, the whole is covered with palms. Skaters skate between lounges, limousines and beach restaurants. But the true heart of the city is a little bit further - the Cours Saleya market square and the small streets around the Old Town - La Vieille Ville. Nice is one of the cities where you go back with pleasure. It cannot be conveyed in words precise sense of calm and freedom of the soul, which will experience there.

3. Antibes   



Antibes is one of the most famous resorts of the Cote d'Azur of France or in other words the French Riviera. Antibes is located between Nice and the unique Cannes. Very beautiful, modern and historical, contemporary Antibes has more than 2,000 years of history. Located on the south-eastern coast of France, Antibes today offers all luxuries and advantages of the premier resort on the Mediterranean. This is the only town on the coast, which is protected by fortifications, which have allowed it to retain a large part of its historic monuments from each period in the course of history. Central place among the historical monuments of Antibes today occupies the castle, with its bastion and firewalls. Most of the historical treasures of Antibes, however, are hidden in the historic city centre. You must reach it walking so you can the utmost feel the incredible atmosphere of this place, among the winding streets and small beautiful squares. Evening walk along the piers full of boats immobilized unique pleasure.

4. St Tropez 



Saint Tropez is the first city on the Cote d'Azur to win the reputation of an international top class resort. Saint Tropez is located in south-eastern France on the Mediterranean Sea and it is a luxurious and very popular vacation spot for international celebrities. The atmosphere of St. Tropez is very unique. Most of the houses and buildings are designed in pastel colours. If you want to get acquainted with the city it is best to do it on foot. In this case, your journey should start from the Old Town. You will first encounter the Art Museum, located in the clock tower. In the building of the ancient fortress is hosted the Maritime Museum, where you can see models of ships and works of various artists. But what is most attractive in San Tropez is the Pampelonne - an amazingly beautiful beach. Each year in early October in Saint Tropez is held traditional international regatta.

5. Cannes   



Cannes is very famous and well known resort, located on the French Riviera in south-eastern France. In the Middle Ages Cannes was a fief of Lerins monastery. By the early 19th century, it remains small agricultural and fishing village. Since the 30s of 19th century French and foreign aristocrats began to build around villas and Cannes became popular destination. Annually in May, it hosts the International Film Festival and becomes one of the "hottest" spots in Europe. But Cannes is not only a centre of the biggest stars of the film industry, collected in one place, to disperse the style, elegance and charm. It is a sophisticated resort where tourists can enjoy 12 hours of sun in summer, mild Mediterranean climate during the rest of the year, the beautiful beaches and a myriad of tempting restaurants, hotels and boutiques. Surely, even just passing through the city for a couple of hours you will be enthralled by the exotic atmosphere and hospitality voices that stream from every corner of the French resort.

6. St Paul de Vence   



Unfortunately, crowded with tourists Paris is no longer so romantic, but in France there are still several places where romantic atmosphere fills the air. 7. Menton   



Menton is a town in the department of Maritime Alps, located on the Cote d'Azur in France. It sometimes has been called the most beautiful city on the French Riviera and its nickname is The Pearl of France. Perhaps the most famous in Menton are gardens. Among them are the Serre de la Madone, Le Val Rahmeh, Fontana Rosa, and Maria Serena which are incredibly beautiful. Apart from the amazing beaches, glamorous yachts, charming alleys and incomparable architecture, the city can boast a warm microclimate ideal for growing citrus. That is why Menton is the only place in the world, which hosts the unique Festival of Citrus. During the festival, Menton is bathed in yellow and orange colours. Houses and streets are decorated and giant puppets and sculptures are made only from lemons and oranges. The Botanical Garden of the city is becoming a major arena of celebration, because there is held another event called Garden bonfires.
