9. Davis, California (University of California)
Californias small town of Davis would just be another farming community if not for the California namesake University. The town has consistently ranked as the best college town in the grand state, where Hollywood lives. The University of California is a big contributor to the culture of Davis and supports many of the towns events and get-togethers. The active lifestyle and green living are a major part of the Davis culture; this is to be expected being surrounded by farmlands. Actually one of the major attractions of the small college town is the farmers market that has live music playing while consumers shop for their wares and of course home grown fruits and vegetables. Napa Valley Californias leading wine producing area is just a short 80 minute drive away from Davis to and San Francisco is just 60 miles from the town center. The town is definitely a great place to be to study and relax.

10. Iowa City, Iowa (University of Iowa)
Iowa may be predominately country but Iowa City is just a little different as it is the college town of the state. The University of Iowa makes its resting place in the town and it is the college that some of the worlds most recognized writers found their calling in the Writers Workshop of the college. Famous writers like Robert frost are among the list that found their inspiration in the program. It could be the rugged beauty of the town that gives the creative mind enlightenment to express the wonders of the imagination or it could be the towns willingness to hold many festivals in the arts arena. Football is also a big event in the town and almost every weekend the main stadium fills nearly 70,000 seats with no problem. Just like many of the other college towns on this top 10 list Iowa City has many quaint little shops that caters to the unique clothing styles of the student population.
