9. Sherwood Island State Park
Set on the Long Island Sound is Sherwood Island State Park another fabulous park found in Connecticut with a ton of remarkable views to enjoy. The area of the park is over 234 acres of wetlands, beach and woodlands this brings many visitors to the park grounds to hike and explore the natural reserve. Visitors also come to the park to take part in the many exciting water sports that can be found in the park, mainly on the shoreline. A unique feature of the parks beaches is that there are three different colors of sand and the waves separate them all into their own layers. Some of the sands are made up of quartz, these are the white sands. The black sand is made up of magnetite and the red sands are composed of garnet. These colorful sands are what attract many of the parks visitors.
