3. The National Mall, Washington D.C.
For those of you who are not familiar with The National Mall, it isnt a giant mall in the capital of America, although that would be really awesome but alas it isnt, it is though a huge open area public park and that has its own merits. The park has been featured in many films and it draws in around 24 million visitors each year. The National Mall includes such monuments as The Lincoln memorial and The Washington Memorial. It is truly a place to visit with many of the monuments of the capital being located in its covered area. It is also a common place for people to gather and stage speeches this was especially popular during the hippie movement in the 1960s. The park is home to the well-known reflecting pool, which is set in between the Washington Memorial and The Lincoln Memorial. The park is home to around 17 museums and monuments in total, so there is always something to see while in the park and much to learn about American history while you are there.

4. Niagara Falls, New York
Niagara Falls is by far the grandest waterfall in the United States and it is one of New Yorks biggest and most popular natural attractions. Something really neat about the falls is that because of all the mist generated from the crashing water there are rainbows almost every day, so if you cant seem to catch the elusive rainbow where you live, at the Niagara Falls you will get your chance to get some great pictures. To get up close and personal with the rush of water that tumbles over the Niagara Falls crest all you have to do is hop on the Maid of the Mist, which is a boat tour company that has been providing water access to the falls for more than 50 years. If you take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist be sure you plan on getting wet because you definitely will.

5. Independence Hall, Pennsylvania
The Independence hall is a building that was completed in 1753 as the house for the American legislature, although it later became the Pennsylvania State House. Independence Hall holds a great significance in the history of the United States mainly because it was the place where the Declaration of Independence was argued, debated and finally put into effect. At the time of the signing Independence Hall was one of the most important places in the new found America. The building is a World Heritage Site because of its strong role in the American history. The bell tower of the building once held the Liberty Bell of course it has since then replaced but the story of the cracked bell remains a testament to the great American history. The bell that is in the steeple now is the centennial Bell, which was created in 1876 for a huge exposition and to replace the Liberty Bell. Today the Independence Hall can be toured and its history explored and it is always a great experience to have.

6. Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, California
An amazing coastal park that houses some of the only coastal growing redwood trees in the United States is the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park in California. It is a magical place in the sense that when you hike the 14,000 acre reserve you feel as though you are travelling through a Jurassic past as you stroll through the giant redwood trees that tower in the sky. Many of the massive redwoods reach over 300 feet in the air, there are two in the park that are nearly 340 feet tall, they seem as natures skyscrapers. The trees found in the park are thousands of years old and have been witness to much of the areas history such as the gold mining operation that took place in Gold Bluffs an area of the park that is now protected. As a testament to the long life of the trees in the park Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park was declared a World Heritage Site.

7. Ellis Island, New York
Located in the New York Harbor is Ellis Island, which during the 1890s and all the way to the year 1954 was the busiest and landing for immigrants coming to the young country for their chance to live the American Dream. Millions of immigrants made their arrival to the country with their first stop being Ellis Island. Much of the immigrants were Italian and Irish and this is where the American Italian as well as the American Irish heritage roots from for most. Many come to the island to trace their family roots as the island is home to a museum of immigration that has records of most of the people who landed on the island. Another one of Americas great national parks is the Yellowstone National Park, which is quite famous throughout the United States as a tourist destination. For about 11,000 years the land of Yellowstone National Park has been inhabited by Native Americans and much of the Native American history can be discovered in the park grounds. One of the most intriguing and most prominent features or attractions of the park is the Old Faithful Geyser. Old Faithful as it is also known is a geyser that is so predictable that the eruptions can almost be scheduled right down to the moment they are going to happen and this is what brought upon its name. it is also one of the longest erupting Geysers in the world known today as sometimes it eruptions can last for up to an hour and a half. The parks unique and diverse ecosystems are home to some of the United States dominating predatory species such as the grizzly bear and many packs of wolves.

9. Alcatraz Island, California
Alcatraz Island has been known throughout history mainly for its in escapable military prison during the early 1900s but it has had much other history as well as it was once the site of an early military fortification before it was a military prison. At one time the |island was even occupied by a group of Indians after the close of the prison in the year 1963. The Indian activists held the island for nearly 2 years and would have held out longer if not for the rising pressure that military put on them. Alcatraz Island is situated in the San Francisco Bay and is reachable by a ferry ride from pier 33. The military history of the island dates back all the way to the year 1846 and remained so until the late 1800s. It was only converted to a military prison because of the isolated location and its disconnection from land by the strong hazardous currents of the surrounding waters.

10. Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve, Idaho
Spread out over 5 counties in Idaho is the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve where most of the land is volcanic in its founding nature. There are over three lava fields in the park grounds, which cover a land area of about 460,000 acres. Although there were Native American tribes who inhabited the lands about 12,000 years ago there is not much archeological evidence of their heritage left behind to learn about their life in the lands. The most recent activity from the volcanoes of the park was likely around 200 years ago according to scientists and the eruptions were likely seen by the Shoshone People who inhabited the land at the time. The park has many geographical features that visitors can enjoy and explore and its visitors center is quite informative on the history of the land. The whites that came to the lands in the early 1900s are who gave birth to the parks name as they started tales about how the lands looked like the surface of the moon, which is not too far from the truth.
This top 10 list has expressed some of Americas most magical and educational places to visit for those of all ages whether visiting the areas for the history or the magical scenes that they incorporate. These places are great for all kids to visit whether they are aspiring artists, geologist, presidents or historians. Visiting some of the places in this list may even inspire the idea to become one of those professionals in young kids futures. The only thing that is a fact is that these places and historic landmarks inspire something special in the souls of their visitors and they are by far worth a visit for any young and even more seasoned individuals. Dont let these gems of the world pass you by as you never know what the future may hold as history repeats itself some of the places may not be around in the future.
