Vallavanuku Pullum Ayutham Movie Review

Director: Srinath
Cast: Santhanam, Aashna Jhaveri
Music: Siddharth Vipin

Santhanam turns full fledged commercial hero with PVP Cinemas Vallavanuku Pullum Ayutham. It isn’t just a perfect family outing this summer, but definitely blockbuster material which is an absolute fun ride. This Srinath directed film is a remake of SS Rajamouli’s super hit Telugu film Maryada Ramanna, which itself is inspired from Buster Keaton’s Our Hospitality (1923).

What works for the film is its simplicity in storytelling and the light hearted screenplay and steady stream of clever one-liners and witticisms. It tells the story of a good man triumphing against all odds and emerging a winner. Santhanam is the pivot around which the film revolves and he has slipped into the mass hero role with ease. It is an entertainer made like a Sooraj Barajatya film, where goodness overcomes hate in the last reel.

The story is wafer thin and as old as the hills. Sakthi (Santhanam) is a hard working young man in Chennai. He is an orphan and due to circumstances is forced to go back to his village to sell a piece of land belonging to his parents. On the train, he meets a beautiful girl Vanathi(Aashna Zaveri) , who later turns out to be the daughter of the village landlord Rayar (Nagineedu).

And in a twist he lands up in her palatial bungalow where they believe in hospitality to all guests. Later the landlord realises that Sakthi is the guy who he and his sons were waiting for 27 years to take revenge. Now, a cat and mouse game starts to get Sakthi out of the house so that they can kill him!

The real strength of Vallavanuku Pullum Ayutham is Santhanam’s robust performance as Sakthi. He looks good, emotes, dances and evokes laughter with one-liners in his own signature style. The introductory song Thakkar Thakkar... is well picturised.. Aashna Zaveri looks cute and is adequate as the heroine while the supporting cast of landlord and his sons though loud fits into the narration.

Music director of the film Siddharth Vipin and Rajkumar have some comedy scenes with Santhanam in the first half of the film. And the talking cycle (with TR’s voice) adds to the fun and frolic. On the whole, it's pretty good fun.

Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham Music Review

Cast:  Santhanam, Ashna Zaveri, Ravi Prakash, Rajakumaran
Director: Srinath
Production: Param V.Potluri, Santhanam
Music Director: Siddharth Vipin
Lyricis: Lalithanand, Na.Muthukumar, Madhan Karky, Muthulingam

Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham marks the debut of Santhanam as a hero; this comes after the actor has climbed his way up the industry as the most sought comedian actor of current Tamil Cinema. The movie is being directed by yet another comedian Srinathand this movie is a remake of Rajamouli’s Maryada Ramana, which saw comedian Sunil climb his way from a fun n frolic to an action hero!

1. TakkaruTakkaru
Singer : Mukesh

Like all other commercial hero’s, this movie also looks to have an introduction song for our hero Santhanam amidst all pomp and trumpets. The song gives you a whiff of Vijay, Ajith and Simbu feel for its projection, the way the loudness and masala is injected. Mukesh vocals gives the perfect setting for a mass hero introduction, and there should be plenty of scope for dance.

2. Oh OhNadhigalOda
Singers : NareshIyer, Shreya Ghoshal

Two of the most happening singers are in the lot: Shreya Goshal and Naresh Iyer, and they both create magic with the vocals in this melody. The song starts off easily the mellow sweetness of Shreya slips through seamless rhythm. The vocals from the lead singers are much consolation to a varied duet that lingers through the interludes with innovation. The usual romeo Juliet lolly pop song no doubt, captivates by some fine singing.

3. OtraiDevathai
Singer : Karthik

Heroine worship is not something new in Kollywood, and here comes yet another intense number from Karthik, who frees his crystal clear throat for a heartfelt number. The song is the usual kind with pinches of melody and carries on with its energetically flowing orchestration. Madhankarky’s as usual twirpy lyrics brings the mood of the song.

4. Chellakutti
Singers : Ranjith, Vishnupriya Ravi

Santhanam is emerging as the commercial star, and no wonder a folk song with full of kuthu and masala. Ranjith has crooned the song with high energy decibel levels, no doubt at all with the trumpets and bass level at its best. That said, there is nothing remarkable at this song, which looks to be enjoyed more with the usual than to sit back and listen through your ipod.

5. VaadaPaaMappilai
Singer : Anandhu

Yet another song, that has a composition to boost your energy level. Newbie Anandhu has done a fair job, but going by the tunes and lyrics it should be a better off track with visuals for the motivation is in the air.
