Maan Karate Music Review
Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Hansika, Vamsi Krishna, Writer Shaji, Sathish
Direction: Thirukumaran
Music: Anirudh Ravichander
Anirudh and Sivakarthikeyan join their hands together yet again after Ethirneechal and this time for Maan Karate. Starring Siva Karthikeyan, Hansika, Vamsi Krishna and Vidyut this is touted to be a romantic comedy in the making.
1.Darling Dambakku
Singer(s): Benny Dayal, Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Yugabharathi
Not the usual Anirudh you’d be hearing around, for it clubs the classical feel with a lot of room for innovation. Sunidhi’s voice forms the backbone of this youthful extravaganza that looms large in energy. Anirudh has lent his bass mind do the thinking as the party mood sets in with “Darling Dambakku” on a recursive style. The songs vibrant energy makes it appear like celebration in the making.
2.Maanja
Singer: Anirudh
Lyrics: Karki
Anirudh’s ever groovy vocals take you on a musical kite ride, this cool and freaky number is crooned on the lines of country music. Taking a page out of lazy rap, the composer feels free to explore Madan Karky’s trendy lyrics that boast the carefree character of the protagonist. Anirudh sizzles between the interludes with a lot of youthful instrumentation and boy “Love is certainly in the air”. Sure to rule the roost for a while.
3.Open the Tasmac
Singer(s): Deva, Anirudh
Lyrics: Gana Bala
Gana King Deva is here everyone;it’s refreshing to see the man back after a long time. Yet again this appears to be sober put in a cocktail of traditional Gana mixed with urban flavor. More than its composition, the verses from GanaBala steal the limelight for its quirky and comical timing. Anirudh has jested popular phrases through cinema like “Vaamunima, Ishtalakadilalasundari and so on”.
4.Royapuram Peter
Singer(s): Sivakarthikeyan, Paravai Muniyamma
Lyrics: R.D.Raja
Full and flowing this song marks the party mood with its satire nature of who Peter is. ParavaiMuniyama and Siva K gear up by etching the Peter character in freestyle. Halfway through you’d feel it would have tromped home if it had been crooned by a professional singer; however Siva keeps up his singing skills in a limited fashion and impresses. With a lot of groovy guitar and muffled choruses the song brings the party mood in town.
5.Un Vizhigalil
Singer(s): Anirudh,Shruti Hassan
Lyrics : R.D.Raja
The first and only melody of this album comes with Anirudh taking the high tide and Shurti silently making waves. The number itself fuses between Carnatic music and modern composition, a total lateral attempt. Anirudh’s foray into strings with Shruti’s distant hues blows away amidst an array of instrumentation. The end note fades out with “Happy Birthday” tunes.
6.Darling Dambakku (reprise)
Singer(s): Nivas, Kalpana
Lyrics: Yugabharathi
If the original was a colloquial peppy number the reprised version is full and foremost folky crooned by Nivas and Kalpana. Retaining the tune, the bass is heavy and dwells like an advertisement song. Replacing the strings and guitars with traditional Veena and flutes the song thumps just like the original.

Maan Karate Movie Preview
Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Hansika, Vamsi Krishna, Writer Shaji, Sathish
Direction: Thirukumaran
Music: Anirudh Ravichander
Ok, the funny man is back again! Yes its Siva Karthikeyan indeed, after an array of box office packers the anchor turned star is ready to enthrall this summer with yet another Anirudh musical and this time the hype around this flick has raised the bar, thanks to the inclusion of cute bombshell HansikaMotwani.
The film surrounds the character of Royapuram Peter, portrayed by Siva Karthikeyan and at the mere mention of the colloquial word “peter” what comes to our mind? A silly guy with a lot of unwanted English, show off costumes and yeah that’s exactly how Siva is depicted here as well.
The movie’s title has been inspired from 2002 blockbuster “Gemini” where the comedians Dhamu and Vaiyapuri use the word “Maan Karate”, meaning a deer that flees away when it comes to danger. Siva’s role is quite similar as we hear from the team of MK spearheaded by director Thirukumaran who also happens to be a former associate of reputed director AR Murugadoss.
The film also has its bit of fantasy jest how, where and why is to watch and find out on April 4. Thiru’s tryst with ARM will certainly help the film’s pace and narration as the story itself is from AR Murgadoss himself. Siva will be his usual self with a great dose of comedy and the looks of trailer gives a pinch of action as well. Vamsi Krishna plays Killer Peter, a lethal boxer with Soori making a special appearance as well. Hansika’s image will certainly boost the film’s fan base and the bubbly actress is sure to attract some whistles.
Without a doubt, Anirudh’s second outing with Siva will be the key to watch out for, as the previous combo created havoc in the music industry, so a toast in the making? Already Manja and Darling songs are a rage, so the wait is almost over.
Yet another juicy fact from the sets is that a huge set was put up for certain portions of the movie by Rajamohan and yes, it was quite expensive.

Maan Karate Movie Review
Director: Thirukumaran
Cast: Sivakarthikeyan, Hansika, Vamsi
Music: Anirudh
Producer: P.Madan
Maan Karate is a watchable fantasy entertainer. It is a good fun ride with Sivakarthikeyan in his elements and he holds the film together along with fabulous music and BGM by Anirudh and eye catching camera work by Sukumar.
The film is tailor made as a summer holiday special for Sivakarthikeyan’s audiences, who like to have a fun time at the movies. It is a film that will have you laughing, rooting for the hero and ultimately you leave the hall with a smile.
Here's a film where you have its every thrilling feature exaggerated in melodramatic detail – a boy-next-door, a glamorous, fair (?) girl falling for the hero in no time, rich production values, peppy dream songs at regular intervals, and the underdog triumphing in the end.
Four IT professionals who are on an outdoor trip meet a hermit inside a jungle (!!) who predicts the future by giving them a leading Tamil newspaper which is going to be printed four months later!
Going by the news in the daily, they track down Peter (Sivakarthikeyan) a normal middle-class guy who is supposed to win Rs 2 crore in the Tamilnadu boxing championship after four months and sign an agreement.
Peter who doesn’t know anything about boxing is sponsored by these people who train him for the match. Meanwhile, Peter meets Yazhini (Hansika) in a mall and it is instant love for him and in lighting speed she reciprocates. After all the fun and duets it’s time for the climax, a long drawn-out boxing match. Maan Karate Peter has to defeat the menacing Killer Peter(Vamsi) in the finals.
In many ways, it is a typical formula film that sticks to hero image template. There is nothing new in this fantasy story, which is hard to digest. But director Thirukumaran’s idea is simple- provide a packaged entertainer where audiences should not ask questions and suspend disbelief. The interval block is one of the highlights of the film.
At the centre of all mirth is Sivakarthikeyan. His comic timing and ability to mock and lampoon conventional notions of macho heroism makes it a knockout performance. Hansika is immensely likeable as Yazhini. She looks charming, light s up the screen with her cute expressions and her costumes are perfect. It’s a pure delight to watch her, especially in the songs. Satish and Soori in a cameo as a boxing referee provide additional laughter. Vamsi as the boxing champion is menacing.
Technically, the film has many brownie points. Anirudh’s songs are a treat and are picturised in a glossy manner like a music video. ‘Un Vizhigalil’ and ‘Maanja’ are the pick of the lot. Cameraman Sukumar’s lighting makes it visually stunning. Editor Sreekar Prasad has made it like a typical mass entertainer.
Minuses? The story and setting is unbelievable and there is a sense of déjà vu as it unfolds. The way a boxing tournament is conducted is not presented in the right manner. It has a racy first half but starts plodding in the second half.
On the whole, a perfect summer outing with your family.

'Maan Karate' gets tax exemption, takes super opening!
Sivakarthikeyan’s Maan Karate has got entertainment tax exemption on its release day.
The distributors and exhibitors are happy with it, as their return on investment will come faster.
The film carries mixed reports and has been panned by the critics. However at the box-office the film has taken 30% more opening on Friday, day one of its release than Sivakarthikeyan’s last hit VVS.
Maan Karate is expected to sail through the summer as it will attract the family audiences and also has a ‘U’ certificate. Sivakarthikeyan has a huge family audience base, which will work to the films advantage. And Escape Artists Motion Pictures aggressive marketing will see it through.

'Maan Karate' rocks the overseas Box Office
Maan Karate which had a fantastic opening across Tamil Nadu has rocked the overseas box office big time.
Overseas Market is a citadel for big stars. It’s difficult to penetrate for upcoming stars. But it looks like Sivakarthieyan was able to make inroads there.
Maan Karate grossed a very good 70,000 dollars in US on the opening weekend. Malaysia which is the biggest market for Tamil movies outside India, Maan Karate was at No 3 for the weekend.

'Maan Karate' completes 50 Days
Sivakarthikeyan’s Maan Karate produced by Escape Artists Motion Pictures which kick started the summer box office season in Kollywood on Apr 4th completed 50 successful days.
While the movie may not have won over critics, it did become a big hit with kids, family and certain segments of youth and helped Sivakarthikeyan to maintain his winning streak at the Kollywood box office.
Hansika’s fresh pairing with Siva along with Anirudh’s peppy songs became a plus and a huge hit among audience contributing to the movie’s success.
P Madan of Escape Artists Motion Pictures is a happy man and his marketing and promotion of the movie helped it to get a huge opening.
After KBKR, VVS – Maan Karate becomes the third hit for the banner.
We can certainly look forward to this team collaborating again in the near future.
