Seeking Pain

You may be thinking, who in the world looks for pain? But there are people who seek pain to distract themselves from the reality of life. They self inflict pain via different methods (which we shall not mention) and may tilt towards suicidal tendencies.

Using the internet and the computer

You may deny it, but it's true! You are addicted to using the computer and internet – especially if you wake up with the urge to check mails and get the latest news update. This behaviour goes on till you hit the sack; just one final look at updates… sounds familiar?

Social media

You may argue that all you want to do is to stay in touch with your friends but the need to contantly check your Facebook page even when you are out with friends is a sign; you are an addict.

Over eating

Gluttony and greed qualifies as an addiction as well. Over eating is generally a way to cover up your true emotions; you may have heard of emotional eating. This unhealthy habit has its repercussions on your body and health. Psst… overeating will not solve your problems.

Exercise

Fitness and exercise can elevate your mood, but dependence on exercise to pump up your mood, spending too much time in the gym and experiencing withdrawal symptoms like frustration and anxiety if you skip it for one day, are signs of a addiction.

Guys love playing computer games and women love shopping; even if it is just window shopping. But compulsive shopping to uplift mood is a serious addiction and should be resolved.

Pyromania

Pyro means fire in Greek, and it is a tendency to set things on fire to release stress and anxiety. Luckily, there are not many cases of pyromaniacs in the city, or are there?

Kleptomania

Kleptomania is a compulsive habit to steal, which is also linked to other addictions like over-eating and substance abuse. Kleptomaniacs steal without a sense of guilt but instead find relief in the act.

Workaholics

Everyone wants to clock out at 5 and escape additional work during the day, but there are some who are the complete opposite. They don't mind extra work and responsibilities and prefer to work non stop. This addiction breaks up families and isolates the addict from his / her loved ones.

Religious devotion

It may seem sacrilegious and blasphemous to talk against religion, but there are those  who continuously link and reason every activity to their religious beliefs.
