உலகின் சிறிய விலங்கினங்கள்!

Pygmy marmoset

தென் அமெரிக்காவில் உள்ள பிரேசில், கம்போடியா, மற்றும் பெரு நாட்டில் காணப்படும் இந்தவகையான குரங்குகள்தான் உலகிலே மிகசிறிய குரங்கினம் ஆகும். இவை சுமார் 11 -15 cm உயரமே வளரும், வாலின் நீளம் சுமார் 17 - 22 cm மற்றும் இதனுடைய எடை 120 கிராம், இவை பிறக்கும் பொது 15 கிராம் எடையே இருக்கும். இவற்றின் ஆயுள்காலம் 11 முதல் 15 வருடங்கள் ஆகும். கொசுறு: பிறக்கும் போது பெரும்பாலும் குட்டிகள் இரட்டை பிறவியாக (Twins) தான் இருக்கும்.

Pygmy Rabbit:

வட அமெரிக்காவில் காணப்படும் இந்தவகையான முயல்கள்தான் உலகின் மிகசிறியவகையாகும். நன்கு வளர்ந்த ஒரு முயலின் எடை 400 கிராம் தான் இருக்கும், உடலின் நீளம் சுமார் 24 முதல் 29 cm தான்.

Chihuahua:

உலகில் காணப்படும் மிகசிறிய நாயினம் இதுதான். 1850 ஆம் ஆண்டுவாக்கில் மெக்சிகோவில் உள்ள Chihuahua மாநிலத்தில் கண்டுபிடிக்கபட்டது. இவை 6 - 9 இன்ச் உயரமும் 2 முதல் 12 பவுண்ட் எடையும் உடையது. இவற்றின் ஆயுள்காலம் 15 வருடங்கள் ஆகும்

தென் அமெரிக்காவில் காணப்படும் இவ்வகை பூனைகளே பூனையினத்தின் மிகசிறியவையாகும். இவை பெரும்பாலும் சிலி மற்றும் அர்ஜென்டினாவில் காணப்படும் அரியவகை விலங்கினமாகும் . நன்குவளர்ந்த இந்தபூனையின் எடை 2 கிலோகிராம், 40-50 cm உயரம் தான். (அழியும் தருவாயில் உள்ள விலங்கு)

Thumbelina:

இதுதான் உலகத்தின் மிக சிறிய குதிரை இதன் எடை 27 கிலோகிராம்தான். குள்ள குதிரையின் உயரம் 17 இன்ச் தான். (பார்த்தா பாவமா இல்ல.....)

Paedocypris:

இந்தோனிசியாவில் உள்ள சுமத்ரா தீவுகளில் காணப்படும் இந்த மீன்கள் தான் உலகிலே மிகசிறியதாகும் அதுமட்டும்மல்ல முதுகுஎலும்பு (vertebrate) உள்ள உயிரினங்களிலே இதுதான் மிகசிறியதாம். இதன் நீளம் சும்மா 7.9 mm தான் (1cm கூட இல்லை -ஆச்சிரியமா! இருக்கா)

Brazilian Gold frog:

 பிரேசில் நாட்டின் தென்பகுதியில் காணப்படும் இந்தவகை தவளைகள் தான் உலகிலே மிகசிறிய தவளை இனமாகும். Izecksonh's Toad என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. இவை சுமார் 9.8 mm உடையது. (இதுகூட 1 cm விட சிறியதுதான்)

Thread snake:

தென் அமெரிக்கா, வட அமெரிக்கா, ஆப்பிரிக்கா மற்றும் சில ஆசிய நாடுகளில் இவ்வகை பாம்புகள் காணபடுகின்றன. இவைதான் உலகிலே மிகசிறிய பாம்பினமாகும். இதன் அதிகபட்ச நீளம் 4.25 இன்ச் தான்.

Philippine Bamboo bat

இவைதான் உலகிலேயே மிகசிறிய வவ்வால் இனமாகும். நீளமும் 4cm எடையும் 1.5 கிராம் உடையது. இதன் இறக்கையின் நீளம் 15 cm.

Bee Hummingbird:

கியுபா நாட்டில் காணப்படும் இந்தவகை பறவைதான் உலகிலேயே மிகசிறிய பறவையாகும். இதன் நீளம் 2.25 இன்ச், எடை 2 கிராம் தான். இவை பறந்தபடியே பூவில் தேன் குடிக்கும் அப்போது இவற்றின் சிறகை நம் கண்ணால் காண முடியாது. இறக்கை அடிக்கும் வேகம் 90 தடவை/வினாடி, இதயத்துடிப்பு 1260 தடவை/நிமிடம். இவை கட்டிய கூட்டின் அளவு 0.75 இன்ச் அகலமும் 1.2 இன்ச் ஆழமும் இருக்கும். அப்படியென்றால் இவை இடும் முட்டையின் அளவு ஒரு கடுகு தான்.

World’s Smallest Cat: 15.5 cm (6.1-inch) high and 49 cm (19.2-inch) long

World's Smallest Hamster: 2.5 cm (0.9-inch) tall



Only slightly bigger than a 50p piece, PeeWee is the smallest hamster in the world. Weighing less than an ounce, the golden hamster stopped growing when he was three weeks old - his five brothers and sisters went on to measure between 4in and 5in.

World's Smallest Chameleon: 1.2 cm (0.5-inch) long



The Brookesia Minima is the world's smallest species of chameleon. This one is just half an inch. Found on the rainforest floor of Nosy Be Island off the north-west coast of Madagascar, females tend to be larger than males.

World's Smallest Lizard: 16 mm (0.6-inch) long



So small it can curl up on a dime or stretch out on a quarter, a typical adult of the species, whose scientific name is Sphaerodactylus ariasae is only about 16 millimeters long, or about three quarters of an inch, from the tip of the snout to the base of the tail. It shares the title of "smallest" with another lizard species named Sphaerodactylus parthenopion, discovered in 1965 in the British Virgin Islands.

World’s Smallest Cattle: 81 cm (31-inch) height



The world’s smallest cattle is a rare breed of an Indian zebu called the Vechur cow. The average height of this breed of cattle is 31 to 35 inches (81 to 91 cm). The photo above shows a 16 year old Vechur cattle as compared to a 6 year old HF cross-breed cow.
