1. Wat Rong Khun, Thailand



Wat Rong Khun is different from any other temple in Thailand and in the whole world. It is an interesting mixture of the traditions of Buddhist architecture and contemporary modern art. The temple is almost entirely white - no other colour is used for its decoration. It is decorated only with small pieces of reflective glass, which give a spacious and enchanting appearance. White was chosen because it represents the purity of Buddha and the glass which symbolizes his infinite wisdom, which illuminates the world and the universe. Temples in Angkor, built by the Khmer civilization, are amongst the world's most amazing architectural masterpieces. 3. The Golden Temple, Punjab, India



One of the landmarks of Punjab stands on an artificial island in the lake nestled in its arms a small forest - a favourite place for meditation of Buddha himself, and more recently of another legendary figure, Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion. On the roof of the temple there is a pavilion with a dome - the Mirror Room, decorated with regal symbols in the shape of an umbrella. 4. Prambanan, Indonesia



Prambanan temple is exceptionally beautiful building, erected in the 10th century AD.  Soaring at 47 meters (five meters higher than Borobudur), the temple embodies the dream of its founder to show Hindu triumph in Java Island. Prambanan consists of three buildings located in a main courtyard, which are named after the three gods - Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva. These three temples are symbols of the triumph of Hinduism and are all facing East direction which is considered to be sacred. Except for the eight main halls, the temple is surrounded by 250 smaller shrines. They are all beautifully decorated with ornaments from the nature as well as decorations with parts of the sacred book Ramayana.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in the Srirangam district of Trichy and is certainly one of the most significant Vishnu temples in the world. It is a temple dedicated to god Ranganatha - this is the form in which Vishnu opens to listen to all of his worshipers' prays and blesses them. The temple spreads over area of about 156 acres and has the highest tower that rises 236 feet over the ground. Each shrine has a tower above it, all of them colourfully painted. 6. Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar



Schwedagon Pagoda is a unique gilded Buddhist monument in the capital of Myanmar - Yangon. That emblematic for the country monument lies west of Kandawgyi Lake and rises above the whole city. This beautiful temple is the most sacred Buddhist building in Myanmar, because it kept the relics of four Buddhas, as well as eight hairs from the head of the Buddha himself.  The gilded building itself has a height of 98 meters and the precious metal used for its decoration is almost nine tons. 7. Tigers Nest Monastery, Bhutan



Monastery "Tiger's Nest" is one of the most sacred places in Bhutan. The monastery is located in the Himalayas on high cliffs above Paro valley. According to the legend there appeared for the first time the legendary Guru Rinpoche. Today the cave in which Rinpoche meditated, according to the story, is considered one of the most sacred places in Bhutan. It is believed that Jethavanaramaya was created by the King Mahasen in the 4th century. It is a stupa, situated in the ruins of Jethavana Monastery in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It is high about 400 feet and once it was the tallest ancient stupa.
