Why do women lie? A little story.
« on: June 22, 2026, 12:28:33 PM »

Once upon a time, a seamstress was sitting by a river, sewing. Suddenly, her thimble slipped from her finger and fell into the water. She burst into tears.

A genie appeared and asked, “Why are you crying?”

“My thimble fell into the river,” she said. “Sewing is the only way I can support my family.”

The genie dove into the water and came back with a golden thimble covered in sapphires.

“Is this yours?”

“No,” she replied.

He returned with another golden thimble, this one decorated with rubies.

“Is this yours?”

“No.”

Finally, he brought up her simple leather thimble.

“Is this yours?”

“Yes, that’s mine.”

Impressed by her honesty, the genie gifted her all three thimbles.

Years passed.

One day, the same woman was walking by the river with her husband when he slipped, fell into the water… and disappeared.

She began to cry. The genie appeared again, ready to help.

This time, he emerged from the river holding George Clooney.

“Is this your husband?”

“Yes,” she answered immediately.

“You lied!” the genie thundered.

“Yes,” she admitted. “And I’m sorry. But please hear me out. If I had said ‘no,’ you would have brought up Brad Pitt. If I had said ‘no’ again, you would have brought up my real husband. And then, impressed by my honesty, you would have given me all three!

“But I’m not young anymore. I don’t have the energy — or the health — to manage three husbands. That’s why I said yes to Clooney.”

The genie paused… and left her with George Clooney.

Moral of the story:

If a woman lies, it’s only for a very good reason — and always for the greater good. 😉
