Here Are Some Simple Steps That Will Help You Break Free

Many people know that consuming a lot of sugar is actually bad for their health, but most of them may don’t understand how really dangerous sugar can be. White sugar is one of the unhealthiest products, which has a negative influence on metabolism and contributes to various diseases. Sugar contains a lot of calories but hasn’t any necessary nutrients. At the same time, sugar includes fructose that can overload your liver. Consuming of white sugar may cause insulin resistance, increase cholesterol levels, and result in metabolic syndrome, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Sugar also affects our hormonal balance and brain, contributing to obesity and addiction.

Well, quit to eat sugar can be very hard, but here are some tips that will help you overcome sugar addiction:

1. Eat regularly. If you let yourself get too hungry, your blood sugar levels will be very low. It means that you will have to work very hard not to eat something sweet.

2. Add whole grain foods and vegetables to your diet, try to avoid refined products. Whole grain foods have low glycemic index, don’t increase blood sugar sharply and you won’t need refueling for a long time.

3. Consume more proteins (meat, chicken, fish, cheese, crops, nuts and beans). Our body spends a lot of time to digests these products, so you won’t be hungry very soon.

4. Avoid caffeine. Caffeine increases cortisol and other stress hormone levels and causes low blood sugar levels. This, in turn, results in sugar consumption.

5. Control your blood sugar levels and consume foods with low glycemic index. Products which have glycemic index fewer than 60 help to balance your blood sugar and you won’t be hungry soon after your meal.

6. Lower your stress levels and get good sleep. If you experience a lack of sleep, your daytime hormones, regulating appetite don’t work properly. People who are not getting enough quality sleep in general gain weight 55 percent more than people who sleep well. Stress increases cortisol levels, and it also results in gaining weight, especially in the stomach area.

Overcoming sugar addiction isn’t an easy process because your sugar addiction can be caused for various reasons, including physiological and psychological issues. The first step is to accept the problem, the second one — changing your habits step by step. At first, replace sugar with honey, then add the foods with natural sugar and reduce their proportion in your diet.

The good news? It is real, the first days will probably be the most difficult, but then you will start feeling better!
