Flat Shoes Good For Our Feet? Experts Reveal The Truth
« on: July 06, 2017, 07:21:05 AM »

We’ve all heard that wearing high heels is bad for our feet and back. So, women have decided to wear them less, alternating between using them and flat shoes. However, we often feel that our feet hurt for no apparent reason. We haven’t been walking for long periods of several hours, we exercise and use flat shoes to be more comfortable.

It would seem that we may be wearing the wrong shoes. It seems that flat shoes are much more comfortable and don’t damage the health of the feet, but that’s not always true. The curvature of our feet means that we need a certain height to walk, and constantly doing so with flat shoes leaves the area unprotected.

While walking, the foot impacts against the ground. And if we don’t alter the height of our shoes, we’re doing long-term damage to the area where we support our weight. Damaging the tendon which connects the heel to the front part of the foot can result in plantar fasciitis. Not respecting the curvature of our feet by using flat shoes, can result in developing flat feet. In this case, in order to maintain balance, other muscles and ligaments overcompensate, causing inflammation and pain in the ankles, hips and back.

To maintain healthy feet you can follow a series of tips. Use half-inch high insoles, alternate footwear to give your feet days of exercise and rest, use slippers with silicone insoles. Most slippers we wear at home have flat soles, but we mustn’t forget that even at home we need to take care of our feet and give them a well-deserved rest.
