Katasraj Temple in Pakistan



In the Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan is the Katasraj Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Legend has it that the temple dates back to the time of the Mahabharata. It goes that the Pandavas spent a portion of their exile here and Lord Krishna himself is said to have built the Shivling at this temple. The Pakistan government is considering applying for World Heritage Site status for the temple.

Tanah Lot Temple in Indonesia



There are several Hindu temples in Bali, Indonesia but perhaps the most famous among them is The Tanah Lot Temple. Part of a chain of 7 sea temples located along the coast of Bali, this stunning temple is perched atop a rock and has waves crashing in all around it.

Sri Subramaniar Swamy Devasthanam in Malaysia



Also known as Batu Cavs, the temple is one of the most popular Hindu temples outside of India. The Batu Caves are a series of limestone caves converted to a shrine and are located near Kuala Lumpur. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan and has a magnificent statue of him at the entrance.

Angkor Wat in Cambodia



The most visitied tourist attraction in Cambodia is also the world’s largest religious monument! But did you know it was initially built as a Hindu Temple dedicated to Vishnu by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century and only transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the century. However it eventually housed both Hindu and Buddhist religious symbols.

Prambanan Temple in Indonesia



Built in the mid-9th century, the Prambanan temple located is Java is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. It is dedicated to the Trimurti (the three main pillars of Hinduism), which are Bhrama (the Creator), Vishnu (the Preserver) and Shiva (the Destroyer). There are also smaller temples within the complex dedicated to the other gods and deities of Hinduism.

Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal



It comes as no surprise that our neighbouring country has a strong following of Hinduism. It is one of the most important temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in the world. Every year thousands of devotees and tourists visit this sprawling temple complex and pay their respect to Pashupatinath or the Lord of All Beings.

Murugan Temple in Australia



Lord Murugan is predominantly worshipped in South India and has shrines dedicated to him in several parts of the world where there is a significant Tamil population. Also known as the Sydney Murugan Temple, it was built by the Tamil community in the city.

Shri Venkateswara (Balaji) Temple in England



The largest Balaji temple in Europe, it opened in 2006 and is dedicated to one of the avatars of Lord Vishnu known a Lord Venkateshwara or Bajaji. The temple architecture is modeled to resemble the famous Tirupati Balaji Temple in India.

Shri Kali Temple in Burma



The Shri Kali Temple in Yangon, Burma was built by Tamil migrants in the year 1871. It is located in an area of downtown Yangon known as Little India due to the large population of people of Indian origin.

Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple in Malaysia



Located in Tebrau, Johor Bahru, the temple interiors are embellished almost entirely with glass and mosaic. It is listed in the Malaysia Book of Records as the first glass temple in the country and attracts several visitors for its novelty and religious significance.

Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple in Fiji



Owing to colonialism Fiji has a significant population of people that can trace their roots back to India, therefore it is inevitable that Hinduism is also prominent here. The Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple is located in Nadi, Fiji and was constructed in 1926.

Radha Madhav Dham in Texas, USA



A gorgeous temple that is also called the Barsana Dham and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is known for having the largest celebrations in America during Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna.

A beautiful temple built by the Gujarati Community in Muscat. It is a popular place of worship and celebration during the Navratri festival.
