Tamil Cinema gets 8 National Awards

The 62nd National Film Awards were announced today (March 24) at a press conference held at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. The Jury Chairpersons were directors Bharathiraja, Kamal Swaroop and Govind Kumar.
Tamil cinema can be proud that it bagged eight awards, which is the highest in south India. Normally Malayalam films get the maximum awards from the South but this year Tamil cinema has got eight awards, the highest in the South.
Best Supporting Actor: Bobby Simha - Jigarthanda (Tamil)
Best Tamil Film: Kuttram Kadithal
Best Editor – Vivek Harshan – Jigarthanda
Best Lyricist – Na Muthukumar – Saivam
Best Female Playback Singer: Uttara Unnikrishnan for Azhagu Azhagu song from Saivam (Tamil)
Best Writing On Cinema (Special Mention): Pride Of Tamil Cinema by G. Dhananjayan
Best Children's Film - Kakka Muttai
Best Child Artists - Vignesh and Ramesh (Kakka Muttai)
