Top 10 Most Popular National Parks in USA

1. Grand Canyon National Park

One of the most spectacular wonders of nature of the world, the Grand Canyon, is a result of millions of years of natural erosion. This iconic canyon, an ever-changing display of colours, is 10 miles wide, extends approximately 280 miles from end to end and at its deepest point descends around 6,000 feet. The National Park, hosting this legendary awe-inspiring gorge attracts millions of visitors annually that travel to Arizona in order to experience this imposing geological formation in person. More accessible and equipped with facilities is the South Rim, presumably it is more preferred by the tourist than the North Rim, as it is open all year round. No matter how you will choose to view the Grand Canyon: stopping your car at lookouts, bravely hiking from rim to rim or braving the river rapids, you will not leave this place without fully experiencing its splendour. Some of the most exhilarating activities offered in the Grand Canyon National Park are: rappelling, golf, guided tours, ATV tours, air tours, paintball, river running and many more.

2. Yosemite National Park

Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite National Park is one of the first wilderness parks in the USA, which boasts majestic waterfalls, Giant Sequoia groves, spectacular granite cliffs, rapid streams and rich biological diversity. What is really intriguing about the park is the fact it is one of the least fragmented habitat blocks in Sierra Nevada and almost 95% of it is designated wilderness.  The Yosemite National Park is suitable habitat and home to rich diversity of animals and plants; more than 160 rare plants have been documented there. A series of glaciations have been modified with the course of time as a result of complex geological processes and at least four (Sherwin, Tenaya, Tahoe and Tioga) have occurred in Sierra Nevada. Glacial systems are now one of the main attractions in the Yosemite, as they reached depths of up to 4,000 feet and left their whimsical mark. In the Yosemite National Park one could also grovel biking, rock climbing, cross- country skiing, hiking, visiting the Yosemite Museum or the Nature Center at Happy Isles.
