Rajini will not go to Himalayas anymore: K.S. Ravi Kumar

In a recent interview to a popular weekly, K.S. Ravi Kumar has opened up about his experience with Superstar and quoted that Rajinikanth will not go to Himalayas anymore and even if he do so, it will be purely for personal pleasure as a traveler and not in the mood to become a saint.

He adds that, after ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padayappa’, I planned two movies with Rajni and both of them  (Jaggubhai & Rana) did not take off for many reasons. In spite of a couple of setbacks, Rajini was kind enough to partner with me for the third time and my personal relationship with the superstar helped me completing ‘Lingaa’ in just 6 months.

‘Lingaa’ is all set to release next Friday across the state in more than 600 screens.

Will ‘Lingaa’ release as per plan?

Just a couple of days ago, Madurai High Court dismissed the intellectual theft case filed by Ravi Ratnam, who directed the movie ‘Mullai Vanam 999’ against ‘Lingaa’. And, the moment team ‘Lingaa’ thought that they are off from every hurdle, they got one more today. Sakthivel, director of ‘Uyir Anai’ filed a case against K.S. Ravi Kumar and Venkatesh, and the court has issued noticed to the director and producer.

The case will be on, on Monday only, given the fact that the next two days are weekends. This case might release affect the release of ‘Lingaa’ as planned. Watch this tab for more.

Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ to get a strong release

With just a week to go, Lingaa sure is the talk of the town. Superstar’s movie has always garnered the interests of many, and this time the makers have ensured that it reaches out to the maximum. The film is slated to be released in over 3000 screens around the world, that’s a staggering number indeed!

The rights for TN and Kerala have been grabbed by Vendhar movies who will be releasing in around 1000 screens across this region except the Coimbatore center. There were reports earlier that the makers were having a hard time to release it in Kerala as the distributors wanted the producers to settle and make up for the loses of previous Rajinikant movie “Kochadaiyaan”. Vendhar movies have confirmed that all the issues have been resolved and the film will hit the screens as expected.

Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, the film also features Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead with AR Rahman composing music.

Legal battle continues for ‘Lingaa’

The entire film fraternity and Tamil movie buffs spread across the globe are getting ready for a Superstar feast with ‘Lingaa’ scheduled to release on the forthcoming Friday, December 12, which is also the 65th birthday of its lead actor Rajinikanth. However the legal battle that the makers are facing are far from over.

A couple of days back a single Judge bench has disposed the petition of Raviratnam who claimed that the script of the film directed by K.S.Ravikumar has been copied from ‘Mullaivanam’ which is a film he made and uploaded in internet. However Raviratnam has made an appeal in the Madras High Court citing the contradiction in the reply filed by Rajinikanth and Ravikumar for his petition. While Rajini had said the story and screenplay of the film has been written by Pon Kumaran Ravikumar has said that Pon Kumaran has written the story while he (Ravikumar) has written the Screenplay for the Rockline Venkatesh Production venture. Raviratnam has stated in his appeal that the Judge has failed to note this contradiction which is well enough to launch an inquiry against those involved with ‘Lingaa’. The appeal is going to be heard by the High Court bench on Monday, the 8th of December,.

Meanwhile another person named Sakthivel has filed a case against ‘Lingaa’ claiming that the film might have been inspired by ‘Uyir Anai’ which is the story he had written in 2011 about John Penny Quick, the British Officer responsible for the construction of the Mullair Periyar Dam and wanted to launch an inquiry. The petition comes for hearing in a city civil Court on Tuesday, the 9th of December.

There are three surprises in 'Lingaa', says Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth was super cheered up at the promotional event of Lingaa which happened at Hyderabad.  Superstar started his speech by an apologizing message for not attending the ‘Memu Saitham’ fund raising event for helping out hud-hud cyclone victims.  He said that he was busy with a family wedding and hence couldn't make it.

Rajini said “As soon as I reach Chennai, will contribute the best I can”.

The complete speech of Rajinikanth was fun-filled that he made everyone laugh. Rajini said “There are three surprises in Lingaa” and we have listed them as follows…

First surprise:
These days completing a big-budget film within six months is a herculean task but hats off to director KS Ravikumar for pulling off in style.  When I say big budget film, it doesn't mean that the film involves top technicians and artists.  Lingaa’s subject and backdrop is really big, the film is set in pre-independence era. There is a train fight and there are scenes involving elephants, horses then there is a huge dam set erected for the film.

Rajini added “Out of 70 scenes, 40 scenes will have thousands of junior artists and I should also thank producer Rockline Venkatesh for it. We artists just come for the shoot, finish our work and leave but these technicians who took the task of completing the film within six months and worked hard for it have to be lauded”.

Second Surprise:
Rajini sarcastically pointed out that there are four people who are claiming that Lingaa story is written by them. Rajini said “Yes the film is having a good story but it actually belongs to Ponkumaran and not to those four people”.

Rajini also mentioned a Twitter comment which said “Do Rajini’s films have story? As many people claiming that they have written the story for the film, I would like to see this Rajini film which is having a story in it”.

Though many say that Rajini is not active in Twitter, his speech at yesterday’s event clearly shows that he is closely following the Twitter happenings.

Third Surprise:
The third surprise in Rajini’s speech brought glee on everyone’s face. Rajini said “I have struggled a lot for Lingaa, I’m not talking about those train fights or climax fights but dancing with these heroines at this age is seriously a tedious task”.

Rajini jovially added “I knew Sonakshi Sinha from childhood and she grew up along with my daughters Soundarya and Aishwarya. The fact is that even during my first shot in Aboorva Ragangal there was no pressure but when they said I’m having a duet with Sonakshi, I really literally sweated. If God wants to punish someone he should make a 60 years old hero to perform a duet with young heroines”.

Rajinikanth also pulled cinematographer Rathnavelu’s leg by saying “Randy was so outspoken during his speech at the Lingaa audio launch. Randy said that he has struggled a lot to show me young and beautiful in Lingaa . Well, I do accept with the first part. Showing me young is okay (possible) but beautiful? (Laughs louder)

'Lingaa' all decks cleared for a big release!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed Lingaa is all set for a worldwide release on December 12. The film is releasing only in Tamil and Telugu, the Hindi version release has been postponed.

Today (Dec 9), the Madras High Court refused to grant stay on the release of Lingaa on a petition filed by Balaji Studio Karthika. Earlier Rajinikanth had filed a caveat application on Monday in the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai, anticipating the filing of a writ appeal in a case preferred by an aspiring filmmaker alleging theft of his script for making the actor’s much awaited movie Lingaa. The caveat was filed to prevent passing of any kind of interim order without hearing his stand.

Now it looks like all legal issues has been sorted out and Lingaa will release on December 12. The final copy of the film and technical corrections on the print is over. Linga cinematographer R Rathnavelu Tweeted: “Nonstop work!! Sleepless nights are over, just handed over Lingaa overseas release prints, thanx 2 my team.”

A lot of office goers has applied for leave on December 12, to watch Lingaa first day first show. Photographs of Lingaa tickets have been appearing online and bulk booking have started in theatres in suburban Chennai. AGS Cinemas have started bulk booking in their multiplexes on OMR and Villivakkam.

Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai will start their online booking from tonight. Vendhar Movies are directly releasing the film in Chennai city. The trade is expecting a huge opening for the film and it is sure to take a fantastic opening.

10 ways to get your 'Thalaivar' fix on!

With 'Lingaa' releasing just days away, there's bound to be a whole bunch of Superstar fans who were unable to bag those prized first-day-first-show tickets. So this is for those who'll go into instant withrdrawl for having not watched the latest Rajini padam on Friday.

And this is how you do it:

1
Kick-start your day with an intro song, Rajini style. We suggest you start with the mother of all intros, Pothuvaga Enn Manasu Thangam. Nothing like a 'gethu' track for that morning feel-good swagger as you hop out of bed.

2
Keep that good energy flowing with 'Baba'. Spring that mudra and lend a helping hand to those in need of one. Be that good samaritan sans the beedi and the paan parag. Kinda defeats the purpose if you purport to do good while reeking of cheap smoke and sporting stained teeth.

3
Spend some quality time with your mother. For after all, there's no higher calling than to serve one's mom.

4
Why not help her out in the kitchen? Channel all the earnestness of Rajini's attempts in Pandian, with hopefully none of that disastrous lack of instinct.

5
Well, it's a weekday and there's no avoiding work. Rajini didn't.

6
The clock's struck 5 and it's time to step out for a rockin' evening. And you've got to set the tone right by dropping a 'idhu yeppadi irukku' in front of the mirror before you head out into the sunset.

7
But not before you get yourself a wingman, your brother from another mother, the 'Deva' to your 'Surya'.

8
It's time to get the groove on and what better way than with a dance off!

9
As you wind down for the night, make sure you end on a high and not on a soppy note moping about the guy who jumped you to the ticket counter.

10
Keep the faith because good things come to those who wait.

Rajinikanth will always have my blessings: K. Viswanath

Legendary director K. Viswanath has blessed the Superstar Rajinikanth in the curtain raiser event for ‘Lingaa’ and said that his long time wish to act along with Rajinikanth and K. Balachander has come true in this year.

” I used to have two wishes in my life. One is working as an assistant for K. Balachander and Bapu for at least one week and the other is acting with Rajinikanth. Both of them have been fulfilled, this year. I acted in ‘Uttama Villain’ along with K. Balachander and I acted with Rajinikanth in ‘Lingaa’. Youngsters should learn a lot from Rajinikanth. The respect he shows towards elders is really praise worthy. He will always have my blessings”

Rajinikanth: Duets in sixties is a big punishment

Super Star Rajinikanth, who has attended the audio success meet of ‘Lingaa’ yesterday, said that he felt very tensed when dancing with Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha in duets. “I had worked very hard for this film. I am not talking about the train fight or the other action sequences in the movie. I am talking about how I felt when dancing for duets with Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka. I’ve never felt so tensed even when working for the first scene of my first film. I know Sonakshi Sinha right from when she was a child. When dancing along with her, I felt very nervous. If God has to punish an actor, he makes him dance for duets in sixties”, Rajinikanth said.

‘Lingaa’ creates records in France

It is ‘Lingaa Fever’ everywhere. With fans queuing up for tickets here in Chennai and online reservations literally freezing websites with heavy activity, one can easily conclude that Rajinikanth’s reign is still supreme over the Box Office.

Time and again the Superstar has proven his dominance in the Tamil film industry with his screen presence and fiery charisma. Similarly, it is no wonder he has a massive fan following spread all over the world.

Adhering to the huge fanbase, Etienne DUBAILLE’s Night ED Films in France have allotted 44 screens for Lingaa. This makes it a record for any Tamil movie so far in French screens. With the release nearing in only less than two days, fans will surely be in rushing in to get hold of their tickets for a feast awaiting them on ‘Lingaa Day’ – 12-12-14

Lingaa starring Rajinikanth is directed by K. S. Ravikumar also has Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty playing the female leads with A. R. Rahman scoring the music.

Madurai HC orders 'Lingaa' producer to deposit 10 crs as guarantee

The Madurai branch of Madras High Court has ordered Lingaa producer Rockline Venkatesh to deposit Rs 10crs before 12 pm tomorrow if the film has to release.

A producer called Ravirathnam has appealed once again against team Lingaa that the story of the film is based on his film Mullaivanam 999.

After hearing the plea, the Justice ordered the producer of Lingaa should deposit in the court Rs 5 Cr as deposit and Rs 5 Cr as guarantee and only after that he will be allowed to release the film.

This interim order comes as a shocker for many distributors and theater owners but Rockline Venkatesh who is producing Lingaa has said that he will abide by the court’s order and Lingaa will be released as planned.
