Lingaa- HC reserves order to stay release

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has reserved its order on a writ petition that sought a stay on the release of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. One KR Ravi Rathinam had filed a petition that the storyline of Lingaa was same as that of his movie Mulla Vanam 999.

The petitioner said he had uploaded the entire story of his film on the video sharing website You Tube on February 24, 2013. The story inspired by the construction of Mullaperiyar dam , revolved around the hero building a dam  and mooting interlinking of rivers. The ‘pooja’ of the film was held at AVM Studio in Chennai. Later he came to know that KS Ravikumar is making a movie with a similar background.

Denying the claim of the petitioner, Lingaa director KS Ravikumar and screenplay writer S Ponkumaran argued that the petitioner had not published his story or even shot the film so far.  In fact the petitioner had not produced any document to substantiate his claims.

After hearing all sides, Justice M Venugopal, reserved orders in the case

The entire trade is happy that the film has been censored and date announced, 17 days before its worldwide release. It gives the producers enough time for all promotional activities and also getting entertainment tax exemption in TN.

A beaming producer Rockline Venkatesh said: “ Lingaa has been made with a budget in excess of Rs 100 Crore. The film is script driven and will have an emotional connect with the audiences. Eros International who has bagged the rights of the film is planning to release it in 5000 screens across the world in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on December 12.”

‘Lingaa’ to fulfill ‘Kochadaiyaan’s promise

Soundarya Rajinikanth toiled hard for 3 long years with ‘Sultan’ and ‘Kochadaiyaan’ and made all possible efforts to get the movie out for Rajini’s birthday last year. But due to loads of glitches in the post production works, ‘Kochadaiyaan’ made its way to the cinema halls after 5 months of its original schedule.

Now, ‘Lingaa’ which was started just right after the release of ‘Kochadaiyaan’ is all set to storm the theatres across the world on Superstar’s birthday. History says that none of the Rajini’s movies in the past were released for Superstar’s birthday and that’s makes ‘Lingaa’ a super special one for the fans of Rajinikanth.

Vendhar movies denies Lyca’s involvement in ‘Lingaa’

A few reports in the afternoon, said that Lyca productions have acquired the rights of Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ and we called up T.Siva, the CEO of Vendhar movies to get a clear picture on this issue. We all are aware of what kind of issues ‘Kaththi’ had gone through with prior to its release and we wanted to present the actual picture in this case.

Vendor movies have clarified that they are going to release the movie all over TN except in Coimbatore. Sukra movies will be releasing the movie in Coimbatore and they do not have any kind of connection with Lyca productions and dismissed the news as mere rumors.

Await a long treat from Superstar

The entire cine fraternity and crores of fans are gearing up to watch ‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Lingaa’ that will be releasing on his 65th birthday on December 12, 2015. The makers have kept up the promise of bringing out the magnum opus as Superstar’s birthday treat to his fans, thanks to the proper planning and perfect execution of its director K.S.Ravikumar.

Now it has been come to light that the film, which has been certified with a clean ‘U’ certificate will be running close to three hours. The exact running time of this Rockline Venkatesh production venture will be 175 minutes and 42 seconds.

Though this is the era of films with a shorter running time, Rajini films which guarantee wholesome entertainment can be exceptions to such trends. It is to be noted that, ‘Padayappa’ the earlier Rajini-Ravi outing that released in 1999 was the lengthy film that ran for almost three hours. The film created new box office records back then and ran for 275 days in theatres.

Moreover ‘Lingaa’ will be a double treat for fans since ‘Thalaivar’ will be appearing in dual roles and one of them belonging to the pre independence era. Also Bollywood lass Sonakshi Sinha makes her debut in Tamil with this film as Rajini’s pair and tall beauty Anushka has been paired up with another Rajini. The film’s star cast includes Santhanam, Karuna, Radharavi, Jayaprakash and many others. Music rendered by Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman  and cinematography by Rathnavely are additional attractions for the film.

Madurai HC dismissed the plagiarism charges against 'Lingaa'

Huge relief for Lingaa team! A producer named Ravi Rathinam had filed a petition at the High Court branch in Madurai stating that Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa is based on his film Mullai Vanam 999 which deals with Mullai Periyar dam and the issues surrounding it.

Now the latest information is that Madurai High Court branch has dismissed the case because of lack of evidence from petitioner side. This verdict from the Justice comes as a huge relief for team Lingaa and now the business in Tamil Nadu will kick start without any hindrance.

Directed by KS Ravikumar, Lingaa has ensemble of star cast including Anushka, Sonakshi Sinha, Santhanam, Karunakaran, Dev Gill, Radha Ravi and Jagapathi Babu.

Lingaa is slated for a grand December 12 release.

‘Lingaa’ secrets revealed

National Award winning art director Sabu Cyril, who is the production designer of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’, has revealed some interesting details on the making of the movie. “We constructed a huge dam like set in a record time for ‘Lingaa’. We also built a full-fledged railway station and a train of British era,” he says.

Sabu and his team also created a palace for some important scenes. And for the ‘Mona Gasolina…’ song, which is already making waves, the production designer had to come up with a ship.

Countdown starts for 'Lingaa' release

The countdown has started a week before the release of Superstar Rajinikanth's Lingaa. It is all set for a grand release on his birthday – December 12. The film has already been censored with a U certificate and is now in the final release stage.

Lingaa is likely to release in nearly 3500 screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi across the globe. It will be one of the biggest ever release for an Indian film.

Meanwhile one more person has filed a plagiarism case against Lingaa in a City Civil Court in Chennai. A person named Sakthivel has now filed a case against Lingaa saying the film's story is a copy of his story titled Uyir Anai.

It looks like filing plagiarism charges against films ready for a release is a new trend. It amounts to harassing the producer and others. The industry should come forward to tackle this menace on the eve of release of a film.

‘Lingaa’, Rajini, Amaran

Since Sabu Cyril was elevated as production designer in Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’, he handpicked his former student Amaran as the film’s art director. Amaran, who worked for six movies with Mysskin, has done a great job in ‘Lingaa’ and won the appreciation of K S Ravikumar, Sabu Cyril, and of course, Rajini.

“We erected a dam, we built a railway station and we erected two grand sets for ‘Va Mannava…’ and ‘Mona Gasolina…’ songs. All this was done in record time,” Amaran says.
