Colombia leads Uruguay 1-0 at halftime
James Rodriguez scored a stunning long-range volley to give Colombia a 1-0 lead over Uruguay at halftime of their second round game at the World Cup on Saturday.
With his back to goal, Rodriguez took the ball on his chest outside the area in the 28th minute and in one fluid motion turned around and fired a left-foot volley that went off the underside of the crossbar and into the net.
Rodriguez's fourth goal of the tournament puts Colombia 45 minutes away from reaching the quarterfinals for the first time. Colombia would play Brazil.
Missing banned striker Luis Suarez, Uruguay labored in attack with replacement Diego Forlan and Edinson Cavani struggling to create scoring chances.
Cavani's free kick in the 33rd went just over the bar in Uruguay's best chance.

World Cup: Germany vs Algeria
The match ends 0-0.
A chaotic Germany was fortunate to hold an attacking Algeria to 0-0 Monday at halftime in the second round of the World Cup.
Nine minutes into the match, Islam Slimani collected a long vertical pass behind Germany's defense and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had to race far out of his area to block a shot from the striker.
Slimani had a goal waved off when he was offside in the 17th. After a brief protest, Algeria was threatening again when Faouzi Ghoulam's shot skimmed across the goalmouth.
Germany produced little until a flurry of shots shortly before halftime.

The United States held tough against Belgium's pressure and went into halftime even at 0-0 in the second round of the World Cup.

Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne stood out in the opening 45 minutes and saw a shot go wide in the 23rd minute.
Clint Dempsey had the best chance for the United States in the 21st minute, but Thibaut Courtois made a good save.
The game was delayed for about a minute when a fan ran onto the field in the 16th.
