Buddha Quotes

A spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism.
Siddhārtha Gautama was a spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism. In most Buddhist traditions, he is regarded as the Supreme Buddha of our age, "Buddha" meaning "awakened one" or "the enlightened one." [note 1] The time of his birth and death are uncertain: most early 20th-century historians dated his lifetime as c. 563 BCE to 483 BCE, but more recent opinion dates his death to between 486 and 483 BCE or, according to some, between 411 and 400 BCE. By tradition, Gautama is said to have been born in the small state of Kapilavastu, in what is now Nepal, and later to have taught primarily throughout regions of eastern India such as Magadha and Kośala.

Here are some famous quotes by Buddha.

It is better to travel well than to arrive.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body but an evil friend will wound your mind.

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past not to worry about the future nor to anticipate troubles but to live the present moment wisely and earnestly.
