Buying household detergents and body care products can undermine any budget. However, there’s a solution to this problem. An ordinary product that is found in any kitchen can replace them all!

Baking soda is a great chemical that can tackle many cleaning tasks, at which even the most expensive products fail. There are over 30 different ways of applying it, but here’s my top 5:

1. Toothpaste. An average person uses approximately 2–3 packs of toothpaste per year. Take 1 tsp of baking soda, 1/2 tsp of sea salt, add 2–3 drops of water and your favorite essential oil. Mix.

2. Exfoliant. How many scrubs for different parts of your body do you have? This one will replace them all. Take 1 cup of soda and 1/3 cup of water, mix and apply on your face and body. Not only will you remove the dead cells, but you’ll also soften your skin.

3. Grease Stains. This is the problem no 1 in any kitchen — no matter how careful you are, you can’t avoid them. Put some soda on a stain and then rub with a wet cloth.

4. Deodorant. Many things in our household become stinky over time. The worse situation is with refrigerator and footwear. Put a pack of baking soda in your fridge. Sprinkle some in your shoes (don’t forget to shake it off before using).

5. Dishwashing. Instead of your detergent use the mix of 1 1/2 tbsp of soda with 2 tbsp of Borax. Enjoy the results.
