Dirty Pets? Science Actually Approves It For Your Health!

Why do we keep pets?

Some people want companions at home while some say they want them for security. Although we have a common thing to agree with their cute cuddle moments with them. Our pets also have therapeutic properties where it lessen the levels of stress of the owners.

However, we all agree they tend to be messy at times in our house. Imagine the litter your dog or cat is producing daily. Not to mention the dirt they produce whenever they are from outside playing things in your backyard. However, science says these are actually good for your immune system.

Amazingly, there is a study which stated that people who are normally exposed to animals and their dirt have less tendency to develop asthma and allergy as compared to those who live in the city. What is more fascinating is an unborn child has 30% lesser chance to develop asthma when his pregnant mother has a pet at home.

Why?

It is called the Hygiene Hypothesis. This occurs when kids are exposed to bacteria and dirt and other factors caused by our pets are less likely to develop allergy due to an enhanced immune system. We know that pets are good for the health but this one is a new development!

Yay for pet owners!
