The human immune response can be specific (specific for each type of pathogen) and non-specific (similar for all). When speaking about boosting immunity, most often we mean the intensification of the non-specific immune response, which is also called the body’s general immunity to various diseases. It is possible to influence the strength of a specific immune response to a certain extent.
To ensure that all parts of the immune system work well, you need to:
Adhere to complete nutrition (immunoglobulins are protein by their nature; vitamins and trace elements take an active part in counteracting foreign agents).
Get enough sleep (your body should have enough time to recover the resources spent on fighting an infection).
Keep the state of psychological comfort (avoid chronic stress).
Go for long walks.
Spend enough time in the sun.
Carry out hardening procedures, the essence of which consists in a sharp change in the temperature regime (contrast shower, dousing, grinding, walrus, visiting the sauna, steam room, hammam).
Nutrition for boosting the immune system
Probiotics (more than a hundred years ago, the father of immunology, Ivan Mechnikov, recommended using probiotics on a regular basis) have a modulating effect on the links of specific and non-specific immune responses. Yoghurt and dairy products of the new generation should be an obligatory component of the daily diet of both adults and children. Do not forget about prebiotics (dietary fiber and lactulose), which create optimal conditions for the reproduction of normal intestinal microflora and have an indirect positive effect on the immune system.
Biologically active substances that are found in seasonings and spices (ginger, bay leaf, cinnamon) have a positive effect on immunity.
Exercises to strengthen your body
For many centuries, yoga, qigong, respiratory gymnastics, acupuncture, and shiatsu massage have been effective means for strengthening the body and enhancing the body’s protective functions.
Immunity of children
If your child has low immunity, we suggest that you follow our parents’ and grandparents’ advice. This includes annual trips to the sea in the summer, as well as visits to salt caves as preventive measures in the spring-autumn period. In home conditions, aromatherapy can be a good alternative.
