When I started, I had to stay at home and maintain my focus rather than going out with friends. It was hard for me to say "no" to my friends when they went to clubs during the evenings. You need to get proper rest after you've practiced as hard as you can, so I couldn't go with my friends. Now after all this success when I go to the clubs, there I know the DJs and everyone knows me. They even let me mess around decks at the end of the night.

There is ALWAYS a room for improvement



Bolt recalls that he always had problems during the start of the sprint due to his tall height. He is 6ft 5 inches. According to bolt, it didn't come naturally and he had to practice a lot for it. Each time he made his start better and better and now after years of hard work, he tells his start is really better now. When the world's fastest human thinks that there is room for improvement for him, then there is definitely a room for improvement for everyone.

Don't believe in your own hype



Bolt was the youngest gold medal winner at the World Junior Championships. He was just 15 then! He says that doesn't stop him from working hard. That was over for once and now it's no use thinking about it again and again. He says he woke up the next day and didn't think about it. He straightaway went to practice.

Enjoy whatever you do



Bolt reconciles his childhood memories and says his coach always told him to enjoy whatever he does and that is very important in any field you want to excel in. If you enjoy what you do you can really put your heart into it. If you do something which you are not interested in, then unknowingly you might not give you the desired results.

It's important to have role models



Michael Johnson and Don Quarrie were my role models when I was young. Johnson was the best runner in the world at that time particularly at the 200 m which was my favorite and Quarrie was the best Jamaican sprinter in the history of Jamaica. I wanted to be like them because they were my idols. I still have idols and right now it's Kevin Durrant(basketball player) who is strong, determined and is also a good leader. He plays for the Oklahoma city and is always pushing his teammates to do their best.

The biggest motivator in the world is the fear of losing



I don't want to loose, I am very competitive. The greatest fear I have while racing is the fear of losing. In fact, it is the only fear which I have and is always there .The only way to overcome this fear is by focusing and practising harder than ever before.

Keep right people around you who motivate you



Bolt says the main reason behind his success is his team, hard work is another thing. He says his dad was a disciplinarian and all of them feared him. His dad instilled that fear when he was very young. Bolt also says that his family was very supportive and they made it sure that Bolt doesn't miss any track meetings and he has everything which he needs for training. He says his team also has a large sacrifice behind his success.

Learn to be street-smart



According to Bolt education is important but being street smart is also as important as education. It is what gives me an edge. It's all about experience and you can learn from experiences you encounter. Travelling a lot has helped me gain knowledge.
