Endometriosis is a painful problem many women around the world experience during their fertile period. This condition occurs when tissue that normally lines in your uterus starts to grow outside of it. Ovaries and fallopian tubes are typically involved, but sometimes it can spread beyond pelvic area.
In some cases, endometriosis hasn’t any symptoms. Although this disorder usually isn’t life-threatening, it may lower the quality of your life. The thing is that displaced endometrial tissue acts the same as in uterus. It thickens and bleeds according to your menstrual cycle. As a result, endometrial cysts may appear in your ovaries. If endometriosis involves other areas, surroundings tissues may become irritated, and this also may turn into health problems, including infertility. Nearly one-third to one-half women with endometriosis have trouble getting pregnant.
Endometriosis can be very painful, especially during your period.
However, women should remember that symptoms of this unpleasant condition vary greatly. The severity of the pain isn’t linked to the stage of endometriosis. Therefore, you may experience terrible pain even if you suffer from a mild form of the disorder.
The common symptoms of endometriosis are following:
- pain in your lower belly before and during menstruation;
— pain during sex;
— painful periods
— trouble getting pregnant;
— heavy bleeding during menstruation;
— bleeding between periods;
— painful bowel movements;
— cramps;
— pain in your lower back.
Some women have only one symptom; others experience all of them. You may also have no symptoms. Unfortunately, endometriosis has no cure, but don’t leave it untreated.
Luckily, there are several ways to manage the painful symptoms and avoid complications. Your doctor may advise you medical treatment, but a surgical option is also available. Every woman reacts differently to certain forms of treatment, so only an experienced gynecologist may find the best one for you.
It is very important to get regular gynecological exams to notice any changes in your body and start proper treatment in time.
