Tea Tree Oil Can Be Used For MUCH More Than A Fragrance.
« on: August 28, 2017, 07:54:13 AM »
For a while, we have seen a fashionable trend of the use of organic oils (such as coconut), but it seems all the attention has concentrated on a few of them while others have been completely forgotten about.

That has been the case with tea tree oil, which isn’t very well known in spite of it having many benefits for the home as well as the health of our bodies.

Tea tree oil has been used for thousands of years as a powerful antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic to treat wounds and speed up the healing process. It is thought that it was first used in Australia and thanks to its many benefits, its popularity quickly grew throughout the world.

Here are seven of many reasons to have a jar of tea tree oil at home:

Dandruff

Tea tree oil is an excellent hydrating cream. Add a few drops to your favorite shampoo to help avoid a dry, itchy scalp.

Acne

The disinfectant properties of tea tree oil can work wonders for the face. Put a drop of tea tree oil on a cotton bud and apply directly to the areas affected by acne. The oil penetrates the blocked pores, drying out blackheads and zits as it disinfects the area.

Insect bites

Tea tree oil is great for calming and healing insect bites, as well as preventing them. The strong disinfectant smell acts as a natural insect repellent. Add six to eight drops in two tablespoons of water, then apply directly to exposed areas of skin to repel mosquitoes and other insects.

Cuticle therapy

The antibacterial and anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil make it ideal for treating cuticles and preventing nail fungus. Mix 10 drops of tea tree oil and another 10 drops of lavender tea with a tablespoon of jojoba and avocado oil. Massage the nutritive mixture on your cuticles.

Athlete’s foot

Massage equal parts of tea tree oil and another base oil (such as almond, avocado or olive) onto the feet to get rid of athlete’s foot. The tea tree oil completely eliminates fungi and provides immediate relief.

Vaginal yeast infection

Lubricate a tampon with coconut oil, and add a few drops of tea tree oil to treat a yeast infection. Leave it for an hour and repeat up to five times per day until symptoms disappear. The same mixture can also be used to treat itching.

Mouthwash

Combine 12 to 15 drops of tea tree oil with one ounce of water to create a mouthwash solution which kills bacteria and freshens your breath. As with any mouthwash, just swish it around inside your mouth for a minute or two, then spit it out.

We know that all these uses sound incredible, but tea tree oil, unlike others, is a little more aggressive on sensitive skin and can be toxic if swallowed, so dermatologists recommend performing a tolerance test on your skin before trying it.
