Whether you need them or not, glasses can be an awesome accessory for you. There is just something appealing about rocking the right pair of glasses and wearing them with pride. But there’s a catch. If you have no clue how to choose the right glasses, you will most likely end up with one that looks all wrong on your face. But don’t fret. There’s a simple solution. Knowing the shape of your face will determine what kinds of glasses will look great on you.

The most common face shapes are: Heart, Round, Oval, Diamond, Oblong, Rectangle and Square.

How do you know which one is yours? Well, all you need to do is stand in front of a mirror, pull your hair back and use something legible (a lipstick, maybe) to draw the outline of your face. Once you figure out your face shape, then it’s time to learn what types of glasses work well for you.

Round Face Shape (Characterised by full cheeks, a soft chin line, and a forehead, proportional in width and length).

You will need to choose glasses that add definition to your face. Find ones with strong, angular shapes like rectangular frames. Avoid circular glasses.

Square Face Shape (Characterised by a strong jaw and broad forehead, proportional in width and length).

Go for glasses that soften your features. Round glasses that sit high on your nose are perfect. Avoid boxy frames.

Diamond Face Shape (Characterised by a narrow forehead and a jawline).

Fun cat-eye and oval shapes help play up your unique features. Avoid boxy and rectangular frames.

Oblong Face Shape (Your face is longer than it is wide).

Try oversized glasses, especially ones that are wider than your face. Go for glasses that are rounder. Avoid small or short frames.

Rectangular Face Shape (Strong jaw but long face).

Curvy and oval glasses help to balance the sharpness of your face. Wider frames are more flattering. Avoid rectangle shapes.

Heart Face Shape (Characterised by broad forehead and cheekbones with a narrow chin).

Look for thin, light metal or clear plastic frames. Avoid overly embellished or heavy glasses.

Oval Face Shape (Forehead, jaw, and chin are all proportionate).

Congratulations. You can rock almost any type of glasses and frames. Have fun, switch it up and experiment.
