Do you think you are lazy and underproductive? In reality, everyone is. The scientists have proven that doing nothing is the second most preferred activity of animals. It’s beaten only by eating! So procrastination is quite normal.

Here’s another amazing fact: constituting less than 1% of your body volume, your brain consumes 30% of your energy, so it doesn’t like to be bothered! Alas, modern life requires much effort from people, who want to live a decent life. The question is:

Do you want to do more and spend less time?

I’m pretty sure you want, and the great news is that YES, YOU CAN!

Here are some useful tips for you from professor Cal Newport, who seemingly mastered the time and is effective at working at University, writing scientific articles and books, and being a dedicated father.

1. Create a schedule instead of mere to-do-lists, which have proven to be ineffective. Don’t forget to secure some time for distractions by other people!

2. Set the deadline for your work every day. Don’t make it too late. 17–30 will do!

3. Plan the whole week and month rather than one day!

4. Remove the things you’re not good at from your schedule. There are types of work, at which you excel. Focus on them. And don’t do those assignments that you’re not good at. Learn to say “no.”

5. Save more time for “deep work.” Have you ever felt exhausted from numerous emails and discussions? I hate this part when people get together and talk about some situation over and over in many details. Mostly, it doesn’t get you anywhere. Try to do less of this and focus on your primary tasks!
