Why is the Olympic Diving Pool Green?

One issue that has been highlighted by athletes and the media worldwide is the colour of the water in the Olympic diving pool. The water is really, really green.

Reports described the diving pool as having "murky green" water, which caused the athletes to feel a little worried.

When journalists asked about the unusual colour of the pool's water, the International Federation of Swimming (FINA) explained that this is due to the absence of certain chemicals in the water tank used for water treatment. This caused the pH level in the water to go out of range, resulting in the murky green colour.

FINA did assure the press and athletes that the water's colour pose no health and safety risk. The Olympic officials have also treated the pool and carried out tests to determine the safety of the pool water.

They expect the pool to be clear again in a few days.
