1. Tasmania, Australia
Tasmania is actually an island off the coast of Australia and it is a state of the country and well-known for being the home of the Tasmanian devil. The island is highlighted as being in "natural state” and it is thought by many to be a place of inspiration in many ways. It wasnt until ten thousand years ago that the state was cut off from the mainland of Australia due to rising sea levels at the end of the last glacial period. The history of the island dates back as far as 35,000 years ago and it has many historic ruins from when Europeans first started arriving on the island in the middle of the 1600s. The land geography of Tasmania is primarily rugged and there is not much commercial development except in the main city of Hobart which is the capital city and this is what makes Tasmania one of the interesting wild places to discover.

2. Serengeti, Tanzania
The wild Serengeti found in Tanzania of Africa is regarded and one of the natural and wild travel destinations of the world. The destination has really earned the title too as there are many huge mammals found in the wild region. The area encompasses over 12,000 square miles of open plains, marshes, rivers and untamed lands. Some of the animals found in the outback of Tanzania are zebra, buffalos, wildebeests and over 65 more different species of large mammal. 80% of the Serengeti is protected under the authority of the government and are considered national parks. A unique land feature of the Serengeti is the small outcroppings of granite that puncture up through the ground as a result of volcanic activity. The Serengeti also holds an active volcano. Lately there has been a big controversy about the land regarding a traffic road being constructed through the precious lands, so it goes to show that these unspoiled lands will likely not be so in the future.

3. Nepal
The country of Nepal may be one of the most popular destinations and especially for mountain climbers as it is the home of the Himalayas and to top that off the home of the great Mount Everest. Although everyone might not want to climb the giant mountain there are still many excellent trekking opportunities available with a perfect view of the monster mountain. The country is also home to many national parks and reserves to see as well with an abundance of unique wildlife to see. The lands remain largely untouched and the scenes within the countrys vast lands are like those out of a movie. The hilly and mainly mountainous lands make it difficult for development and that is what has primarily kept the wildernesses of the country largely intact. Even roads are hard to build in the country. If you are a mountaineer or just love being close to nature Nepal is one of the top places to spend some time.

4. Pantanal, Brazil
Compared to the Amazon in many ways but the Pantanal in Brazil differs from the well-known Amazon with several of its own merits. Like the amazon the wildlife of the Pantanal , which is 10 times as big as the Everglades by the way, is some of the most unique in the world, the difference is that the animals of the Pantanal remain out in the open and primarily within view of travelers. Eco tourism is one of the main attractions of the region but there are very few roads all of which are dirt roads and footpaths are rare too. The primary modes of travel through the Pantanal are by FWD trucks and boats but the equestrian enthusiasts will be glad to know that going horseback through the wildernesses will bring you to places other forms of travel cannot. It is wise when exploring the region to be with a knowledgeable guide as making their home in the region are a variety of large predatory creatures such as anacondas and panthers.

5. Uluru, Australia
In Australia one of the most intriguing places to visit is Uluru, which is a land filled with ancient paintings found on the walls of rock caves. Waterholes and densely forested areas house some of Australias unique animals; the area is the epiphany of all the natural lands of the country all in one place. Uluru is a World Heritage Site and it is the sacred land of the native people of the lands that Uluru encompasses. One of the most recognizable and distinguished landmarks of the area is the giant sandstone mountain surrounded by almost completely flat plains. The sharp sided hill protrudes from the ground and extends up into the air at a height of 1,147 feet. Some of the wildlife found in Uluru is the rock wallaby, 73 species of reptiles and around 50 species of mammals, foxes are quite common. Aside from the nature that inhabits the land there are many folklore tales, legends and stories of Uluru that have been told throughout the last 10,000 years by the native inhabitants.

6. Lake Titicaca, Bolivia
Being the highest above sea level and commercially traveled lake in the world sitting over 12,000 feet above sea level the lake is home to some rare marine life because of this fact. One of the weirdest of the animals is the Titicaca Water Frog which can grow up to a weight of 2 pounds or more, they are the biggest water dwelling frog in the world. The Goliath Frog that is found in Africa gets as big or bigger but it can also be found on land. This specie of frog is growing more and more endangered by the day, this is due to many factors, one of them being over fishing for human consumption. One of the major attractions even for those of Peru and Bolivia is the group of 44 islands or so that lie in the middle of the lake. The islands consist of floating reeds and can actually be moved from one spot to another, another cool fact that brings in many tourists to see the islands is the reed constructed watchtowers that are found on many of the weird islands.

7. Borneo
The 3rd biggest island in the world by land mass, Borneo still has a large amount of land area that remains untouched and far from human development. What makes the island so special is that it contains one of the oldest rainforest in existence in the world today, next to the Amazon and the Daintree Rainforest. The island contains about 287,000 square miles of land and is surrounded by several different seas and straits. Some of the rarest sites in the world can be found in Borneo especially within the vast cave systems that are found on the island. The longest underground cave dwelling river and a cave that has over three million bats living in it can both be seen on Borneo. "The Bat Cave” or Deer Cave as it is officially known has a mountain of guano within it, due to all the bats of the cave, over the years feces of the rodents has reached a height of 330 feet.

8. Tongass National Park, Alaska, USA
In Alaskas vast wilderness is the biggest national park found in the United States, it spans over 17,000,000 acres and is known as Tongass National Park or Forest. The remote location is the resting places of many extinct flora and fauna as well as several endangered species of plants. Geographically speaking the land is made up of coastal mountains, glaciers and fjords. The Alexander Islands are also a part of the park and the archipelago stretches for about 300 miles in total. The archipelago has its own forest reserve as well. In the park there are to this day around 75,000 inhabitants that make their home in the lands of Tongass and they are largely dependent on the land. Most of the inhabitants are Alaskan Natives and have ancestral roots that date back centuries in the land. There are many other aspects to the island such as its native wildlife that attract many to the park and are well worth some time spent visiting the lands of the park.

9. Mongolia
Mongolia was founded by the infamous Genghis Kahn in 1206 and has been ruled by various nomadic societies throughout the centuries. In present times the country is a parliamentary republic and the brunt of its population lives in the capital. With 45% of the populous residing in the capital city the lands throughout Mongolia are sparsely populated and very in touch with the natural side of the world. Many of the small village inhabitants make their living from the soil and this is how they survive too. The country is strongly landlocked and this has prevented much of the land subduing to commercial development. Mongolia has been inhabited since the time of Homo Erectus and there is evidence of this in "White Cave”. The human history of the land dates back almost 800,000 years ago, some of the deepest human history in the world. The country of Mongolia is one of the few places on earth that everyone should go at least once in their lifetime.

10. Hindu Kush, Afghanistan
Although Afghanistan is war-torn in present years it still has one of the greatest places to see in this list, although traveling to this location may not be the safest in this day and time. Hindu Kush is a part of the Himalayas and runs from the country of Afghanistan and into Pakistan. It is common belief in the scientific community that Hindu Kush is the spawning point of human population or otherwise referred to as the "Center of Population”. The surprising and semi disturbing nature of the name of the region is that Hindu Kush literally means "Kills the Hindu” and this name is a reflection of the history of the land as there were many Hindu slaves that lost their lives in the mountains due to the harsh weather and cold climate. The highest point of Hindu Kush is around 25,000 feet above sea level and the lands are quite amazing.
These amazing wild places on earth are some of the most mesmerizing places in the world to explore, although some of them are quite dangerous to trek alone there is always a good guide nearby when traveling to these great destinations, so finding someone to bring you to the remote areas safely is never an issue. Also there are always great accommodations within a short distance from these wild places. Adventurers, historians and just those looking to explore the wonders of the world will find that these 10 destinations and areas will satisfy their sense of wonder and excitement. Plan ahead for a trip to one of these places as a little extra planning goes a long way when traveling to these wonderful, unspoiled and largely untouched places.
