One day in ancient Greece, a man rushed to Socrates, bursting with excitement:
— “Socrates! You won’t believe what I just heard about your friend!”

The philosopher calmly raised his hand and said:
— “Wait. Before you tell me anything, let’s run your words through three filters.”

🧠 First Filter – Truth.
Are you absolutely sure that what you’re about to say is true?
— “Not really… I just heard it from someone else.”

💚 Second Filter – Goodness.
Is what you want to tell me something kind or positive?
— “No… quite the opposite.”

🌿 Third Filter – Usefulness.
Will this information be helpful to me or anyone else?
— “Honestly… no.”

Socrates smiled and said:
— “Then why tell me at all?”

A timeless lesson:
If what we say isn’t true, good, or useful — maybe it’s better left unsaid.
Because sometimes, silence speaks louder than gossip.
