Every year millions of people around the world celebrate Valentine's Day by exchanging flowers, greetings, chocolate boxes and expensive gifts.
However, not many of us are aware of the story of St. Valentine and how Valentine's Day originated several centuries ago.
The tales surrounding this particular day has many versions.

Some believe that it is the day on which the Roman Emperor Claudius II beheaded Saint Valentine for marrying off couples secretly.
Another story states that the Roman festival, Lupercalia is celebrated to ward off evil spirits in the city of Rome in order to maintain good health and fertility.

Yet another narrative suggests that Valentine was a beloved saint who was locked away in a cell by the Roman king for disobeying the Gods.
Children would send him handwritten notes since they loved this person so much.

  • The funny part about this event is that there is no confirmed story because there were three different Saint Valentines and all of them were martyred!
Some suggest that this day owes its origin to the Roman Empire during the reign of Emperor Claudius II.
This ruler felt that married men turned out to be poor soldiers and thus he was against the very idea of marriage of young couples.
But when Saint Valentine defied him and secretly encouraged lovers to get together, the emperor announced his execution.
  • This day happened to be 14 February 270 A.D., when the great Saint Valentine died.
Infact, there are a couple of stories suggesting that this man protected the Christians against any harsh Roman punishments.
  • A large part of the population maintained that Valentine himself initiated the concept of sending love messages due to the fact that he had once ended a note with the words: ‘from your valentine'.
The tale behind this is that during the time of his imprisonment, the saint fell in love with the jailor's daughter.
He expressed his feelings for her in the most romantic manner i.e. by writing her a love letter.
  • One of the most prominent beliefs was that St. Valentine was a very romantic person who laid the foundation for lovers to come forward and express feelings to their loved ones.

No matter what is the history behind Valentine's Day, this day continues to hold great importance among lovers and is celebrated with great vigor and gaiety all over the world.

Mother's Day is celebrated at different dates across the world, but some dates are more preferred than others.
The most common date of Mother's day is the second Sunday of May.
The modern Mother's Day is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March, April, or May as a day to honor mothers and motherhood.

Mother's Day is celebrated to honor all mothers and express gratitude for the hardships they bear in bringing up a child.
Mothers Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother's Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914.
Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and devotion.

Mother’s Day has been celebrated worldwide for many centuries.
Historians and archaeologists have found ancient scriptures describing people from the ancient Greek era congregating to pay their reverences to the Greek goddess Rhea, who was in Greek mythology the “mother” of all gods.
In 15th century Europe, Christian followers would get together on “Mothering Day”, which specifically recognized the Virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus Christ.
When the English colonists first arrived to the United States, they stopped celebrating the European tradition “Mothering Day” as a result from separating themselves from England’s rule, and also due to the increased focus on protecting one another from the hidden dangers of the New World.
Subsequently after the Civil War, “Mothering Day” became a continued tradition but was renamed to “Mother’s Day.”

As Mother’s Day grew to become a popular national holiday, the act of family members giving their mother’s, grandmothers, and new mother’s gifts had become an essential fabric interwoven into the tradition of Mother’s Day.
Giving gifts of remembrance, such as personalized gifts, has grown to be one of the most popular kinds of gifts to give on Mother’s Day.
For a mom, seeing a sentimental personalized message monogrammed from her children is the extra mile that makes her Mother’s Day gift that much more of a true representation of the love and admiration that her family shares for her.
Coffee mugs, grocery tote bags, and mom picture frames became the staples of popular personalized Mothers Day gifts that are given to moms worldwide.

Mother’s Day is celebrated worldwide from most cultures and backgrounds, but we all share the universal understanding that cements the diverse lenses of Mother’s Day.
That is, we dedicate a whole day to the special lady that we proudly call “mom.

Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in many countries and on other days elsewhere. It complements Mother's Day, the celebration honoring mothers.

Father's Day is a celebration of fathers inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Father's Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, special dinners to fathers, and family-oriented activities.

The first observance of Father's Day actually took place in Fairmont, West Virginia on July 5, 1908. It was organized by Mrs. Grace Golden Clayton, who wanted to celebrate the lives of the 210 fathers who had been lost in the Monongah Mining disaster several months earlier in Monongah, West Virginia, on December 6, 1907.

It's possible that Clayton was influenced by the first celebration of Mother's Day that same year, just a few miles away. Clayton chose the Sunday nearest to the birthday of her recently deceased father.Unfortunately, the day was overshadowed by other events in the city, West Virginia did not officially register the holiday, and it was not celebrated again. All the credit for Father's Day went to Sonora Dodd from Spokane, who invented independently her own celebration of Father's Day just two years later, also influenced by Jarvis' Mother's Day.

Clayton's celebration was forgotten until 1972, when one of the attendants to the celebration saw Nixon's proclamation of Father's Day, and worked to recover its legacy. The celebration is now held every year in the Central United Methodist Church – the Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was torn down in 1922. Fairmont is now promoted as the "Home of the First Father's Day Service". A bill to accord national recognition of the holiday was introduced in Congress in 1913. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson went to Spokane to speak in a Father's Day celebration and wanted to make it official, but Congress resisted, fearing that it would become commercialized.

US President Calvin Coolidge recommended in 1924 that the day be observed by the nation, but stopped short of issuing a national proclamation. Two earlier attempts to formally recognize the holiday had been defeated by Congress. In 1957, Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith wrote a proposal accusing Congress of ignoring fathers for 40 years while honoring mothers, thus "[singling] out just one of our two parents" .In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, designating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day.

International Nurses week (IND) is celebrated around the world every 6–12 May, to mark the contributions nurses make to society.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has celebrated this day since 1965. In 1953 Dorothy Sutherland, an official with the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, had proposed that then-President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaim a "Nurses Day," but he did not approve it.

In January 1974, the decision was made to celebrate the day on 12 May as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. Each year, ICN prepares and distributes the International Nurses' Day Kit. The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.

In 1999 the British public sector union UNISON voted to ask the ICN to transfer this day to another date, saying Nightingale did not represent modern nursing.

As of 1998, 8 May was designated as annual National Student Nurses Day. As of 2003, the Wednesday within National Nurses Week, between 6 and 12 May, is National School Nurse Day.

On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned on locations all over the globe. 4 October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.

It is intended as a day of celebration for anyone in the world who cares about animals. It is not restricted to any one nationality, creed, religion, political belief or ideology.

World Heart Day is celebrated annually on the last Sunday of September. World heart day encourages awareness of healthy heart. Heart disease and stroke are the world’s largest causes, claiming millions of lives every year.

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-m8rNDVNz5nI%2FTn_KaFX9TCI%2FAAAAAAAADII%2Ferl3DRXNxCQ%2Fs400%2Fheart-day.jpg&hash=12802909b70a2ee5189978db68facf52fac053b5)

World heart day began in 1999 in an effort to create awareness and educate risk factors for heart disease and stroke in the public to promote preventive measures. World heart day activities include public talks, free screenings, walks, runs, fitness events, scientific forums and exhibitions.

The theme of the world heart day is to “Team Up For Healthy Hearts”. The aim of this day is to encourage people to join together and create heart-healthy communities.

Role of heart in daily life is: physically it beats 70 times per minute and plays an important role in body functions and mentally, it shows kindness, generosity and sympathy in nature.

The causes of heart diseases and stroke in people include obesity, cigarette smoking and food habits. Lack of physical activity and improper diet can lead to obesity and it in turn increases the chances of heart disease. Intake of fatty and junk foods in large quantities also increases the risk of heart failures.

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com%2F-FjjCFiy8e-0%2FTn_KmyV0vRI%2FAAAAAAAADIM%2FDyfHh_thYFI%2Fs400%2Fworld-heart-day-2009.jpg&hash=0acd47332a4471e2fb3e2e49d5357898d88b3212)

Preventive measures can reduce the risk of heart attacks and stroke. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends:

  • To develop policies that ensures access to screening and counseling services for heart disease and stroke risk factors
  • To create worksite, school, and health care facility education programs
  • To have access to healthy environments for physical activities and healthy foods

The heart foundation advises all families to team up and talk about how to react when someone starts to experience warning signs of a heart attack.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle helps in maintaining a healthy heart and prevents heart attacks and strokes. Choose a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, reduce the intake of saturated fats, avoid smoking, alcohol and be physically active.

Follow healthy lifestyle for a Healthy Heart.

World Photography Day celebrated on August 19 each year is about remembering how special a photo can be.
We may take our photographs for granted but the next time we go through our photographs, we realize that those precious moments cannot again be captured, only shared, and with precious memories and feelings that only photographs can convey.

Early cave paintings show that man has always wanted to record himself, his activities, and the environment around him.
Painters of great renown have abounded through the centuries and have left remarkable visual histories of our journey through time.
While the camera was not invented until the 19th century, the basic elements of a camera had been known for hundreds of years.
As early as the 1400’s it was documented that inserting a lens in a hole would produce a crisper, clearer image.
The technology which was known as “camera obscura” was used by artists to sketch objects more quickly.
In 1847, the first ever photograph was taken by Joseph Niepce.
A few years later, Louis Daguerre, a Frenchman painter for the Opera, experimented with various methods to try and secure a permanent image.

World Photography Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre.
On January 9, 1839 The French Academy of Sciences announced the Daguerreotype process but a few months later on August 19, 1839 the French government announced the invention as a gift “free to the world.”
Another photographic process, the Calotype, was also invented in 1839 but later announced in 1841.
Together, the invention of both the Daguerreotype and Calotype processes mark 1839 as the year that photography was invented.
On August 19th, celebrate photography and share your world with the world.

The United Nations’ (UN) International Youth Day is celebrated on August 12 each year to recognize efforts of the world’s youth in enhancing global society.
It also aims to promote ways to engage them in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.

International Youth Day is a time to think about the different problems and challenges that face young people across the globe, such as malnutrition and disease.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about the state of young people in each country.

In 1999, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared August 12th to be International Youth Day through resolution 54/120.
Their hope was that people would organize activities on this day that would educate the public about issues that involve youth.
They also wanted to promote the World Programme of Action for Youth, created in 1995 to find solutions to these situations.

World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.
The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.

This day seeks to raise public awareness about global population issues and to empower societies to achieve a better future.

Good trivia questions about the world's population are not hard to come by.
For example, did you know that the Population Reference Bureau estimates that the total number of people who have ever lived is approximately 110 billion?
Or that a new baby is born every 4.2 seconds?

You can celebrate World Population Day by becoming more aware of global issues such as hunger and poverty, or by donating to charities across the world.
Today is a day to think about others.

Video Games Day celebrates popular video games that stormed onto the market, and changed the way your kids play games.
From Atari to Nintendo to Xbox, video games provide all too many hours of playing time on your television set.
In grandma and grandpa's day, they had stick horses for toys and playtime.
Todays kids (big kids and little kids) have an enormous array of video games to play.
Before you get tired of one game, another one hits the market.

Our extensive research into this special day discovered two separately distinct dates.
Also, both dates for this special day refer to it as Video Games Day and National Video Games Day.
Based upon our research results, we give the edge to September 12th as National Video Games Day.
Lucky gamer that you are, you get to celebrate two video games days.
Celebrate  National Video Games Day by playing video games.
If you are off from school (or if you are a big kid off from work), make this a marathon day for video games.
Better still, invite a few friends and hold a competition.
Just make certain that you have enough controllers.

May Day occurs on May 1 and refers to several public holidays. In many countries, May Day is synonymous with International Workers' Day or Labour Day, a day of political demonstrations and celebrations organised by communists, anarchists, socialists, and activist groups.
May Day is also a traditional holiday in many cultures.

May Day can refer to various labour celebrations conducted on May 1 that commemorate the fight for the eight hour day.
May Day in this regard is called International Workers' Day, or Labour Day.
The idea for a "workers holiday" began in Australia in 1856; after a Stonemason's victory, April 22nd was "Eight-Hour Day", a public holiday.
With the idea having spread around the world, the choice of May 1st became a commemoration by the Second International for the people involved in the 1886 Haymarket affair.

World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed around the world every year on May 31.
It is meant to encourage a 24-hour period of abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption across the globe.
The day is further intended to draw global attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and to negative health effects, which currently lead to 5.4 million deaths worldwide annually.
The member states of the World Health Organization (WHO) created World No Tobacco Day in 1987.
In the past twenty years, the day has been met with both enthusiasm and resistance across the globe from governments, public health organizations, smokers, growers, and the tobacco industry.

World Environment Day (WED) is a day that stimulates awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and public action.
 It is on 5th June.
It was the day that United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began.
The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment was from 5–16 June 1972.
It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972.
The first World Environment Day was on 1973.
World Environment Day is hosted every year by a different city with a different theme and is commemorated with an international exposition in the week of 5th June.

The purpose of celebrating World Environmental Day every year is to show the world the importance of environment and provoke political attention towards it.
It points towards the importance of the issues concerned with today's environmental challenges.
The organizations create different activities and debates on the importance of environment on every year so that an understanding can be promoted between different communities about the key role of environment in our daily life.

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F-40WyHl3lle8%2FTewvRCS_XRI%2FAAAAAAAAEQ0%2FJopFtqK4ehw%2Fs400%2FWorld%2BEnvironment%2BDay.jpg&hash=0649cd7b48b4d73ce3cf785a5bc50aded9077cf1)

It is also a good tool to encourage people to become active agents and supporters for the environmental issues concerned to them.
Every year different activities and topics are chosen to be discussed on 5th June.
In this way this day is celebrated every year on 5th June.

On December 18, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 62/139, tabled by the State of Qatar, which declares April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) in perpetuity. Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, Consort of His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, supported the campaign for a World Autism Awareness Day through the current 62nd UN General Assembly Session, garnering consensus support from all United Nations Member States.

This UN resolution is one of only three official disease-specific United Nations Days and will bring the world's attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions. The World Autism Awareness Day resolution encourages all Member States to take measures to raise awareness about autism throughout society and to encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. It further expresses deep concern at the prevalence and high rate of autism in children in all regions of the world and the consequent developmental challenges.

World Autism Awareness Day shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis. WAAD activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism epidemic and  impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of persons with autism and is a day when individuals with autism are warmly welcomed and embraced in community events around the globe.

On 14 June 2011, countries worldwide celebrate World Blood Donor Day with events to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.

The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2011 is, "More blood. More life." This theme reinforces the urgent need for more people all over the world to become life-savers by volunteering to donate blood regularly.

Every year, countries throughout every region of the world organize a huge variety of events and activities to celebrate the day, from football matches to free concerts, and from mobile blood donation clinics to monumental decorations.

Why should we donate blood?

Safe blood saves lives and improves health. Blood transfusion is needed for:
women with complications of pregnancy, such as ectopic pregnancies and haemorrhage before, during or after childbirth;
children with severe anaemia often resulting from malaria or malnutrition;
people with severe trauma following accidents; and
many surgical and cancer patients.
It is also needed for regular transfusions for people with conditions such as thalassaemia and sickle cell disease and is used to make products such as clotting factors for people with haemophilia. There is a constant need for regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time before use. Regular blood donations by a sufficient number of healthy people are needed to ensure that safe blood will be available whenever and wherever it is needed.

Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person - the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life or even several if your blood is separated into its components - red cells, platelets and plasma - which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.

Who can donate blood?

Any healthy adult can donate blood: men once in every three months and women every four months. The universally accepted criteria for donor selection are:

Age - 18 to 55 years

Haemoglobin : not less than 12.5 g/dL

Pulse : between 50 and 100/minute with no irregularities

Blood Pressure : Systolic 90 : 180 mmHg and Diastolic 50 : 100 mmHg

Temperature : Normal (oral temperature not exceeding 37.5 degree C)

Body weight : not less than 46 Kg

Who can not donate blood?

1.Pregnant or lactating women, or those who have recently had an abortion or miscarriage

2.Those who are on steroids, hormonal supplements or certain specified medication

3.Persons with sexually transmitted diseases or infections like HIV or those who are addicted to drugs

4.Those who have had an infection like jaundice, rubella, typhoid or malaria

5.Persons who have undergone surgery in the previous six months

6.Persons who have consumed alcohol in the 24 hours prior to donation

7.Women should avoid donation during their menstruating period

Common myths about blood donation

1.I can get infection while donating blood
Fact - Sterile equipment is used, which limits the chance of infection.

2.It’s not healthy to donate blood.
Fact - Provided that you're healthy prior giving blood, your health will not deteriorate after donating blood. One should take a few hours of rest after donation.

3.The process is very time consuming
Fact - A single donation session normally does not take more than an hour.

4.My haemoglobin will dip after donating
Fact – Not more than 470 ml of blood is taken at one session. Your body replaces this in a very short period of time. Donating blood does not lead to any decrease in your haemoglobin level.

5.Elderly people can not donate blood
Fact - Anyone up to the age of 60 years and is fit and healthy can donate blood

National Sister's Day is on first Sunday in August.Though you may argue, fight, tattle tail to mom, and pull each others hair, you know that deep down your sister truly is your best friend. You share your deepest secrets, earliest memories, and countless laughs with one another.

Did you know that approximately 85% of the people living in the United States have at least one birth sibling? Children often learn lessons about socializing and interacting with others through their sibling relationships. Sisterhood is a strong bond between siblings that should always be cherished.

Take this day, Sister's Day, to show your gratification and love to your sister. Plan a trip to the beach, grab lunch together. You can exchange childhood memories and build a sister bond that will last a lifetime!

Brothers and Sisters Day is a day to cherish your siblings. Sure, there's times when you love your brothers and sisters. And, there's times when you want to disown them. All in all, having a brother and/or a sister or two is invaluable. The older you get, the more you learn to appreciate them.

Celebrate Brothers and Sisters Day by touching them in some way.  A card or a phone call is appropriate for those who are separated by too many miles. A visit, or sharing a meal together, is a great way to enjoy this special day.

National Sibling Day is on  April 10th.
National Sibling Day is a day to appreciate and cherish your brothers and sisters. Siblings are truly a special blessing that we probably all too often take for granted. They are often our best friends and supporters through life. Another reason to celebrate is that not everyone is lucky enough to have siblings. Their lives are significantly different growing up, and throughout  life.

Celebrate National Sibling Day in a variety of ways. It's a great time to be thankful for your sibling. But, most importantly get in touch with your siblings. Visit them if they live nearby. Call them, if they live far away. Send them a card, a letter, gifts, or flowers.

It's a whole day dedicated to something that drives most people crazy—text that is written in ALL CAPITALIZED LETTERS!

International Caps Lock Day was created in 2000 by Derek Arnold of Iowa. This holiday began as a parody. It was intended to poke fun at those individuals who unnecessarily capitalize letters, words and phrases.

The day became so popular with internet users that it is now celebrated twice a year—on June 28th and on October 22nd. In fact, the June observance coincides with the death of Billy Mays, the shouting infomercial king. There is even a Twitter account dedicated to this day (@CAPSLOCKDAY).
Hit your caps lock button and celebrate INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY!

June 29th is National Waffle Iron Day. Waffle irons were originally a long handled device consisting of two metal plates held together by a hinge. One side was heated at a time, so knowing the right moment to turn the waffle iron was a skill acquired through trial and error. Here is how to Celebrate National Waffle Iron Day.
National Waffle Iron Day is an important date on the calendar of every true breakfast lover! After all, homemade waffles are a morning time staple. Waffle irons make the preparation of these fluffy favorites easy. Just prepare the batter, pour it into the machine and voilà! You’ll have delicious, golden-brown waffles in minutes.

The earliest waffle iron is said to have been made in the 14th century in what is now Belgium and its surrounding areas. However, it wasn’t until 1869 that Cornelius Swarthout patented the American waffle iron. Then in 1911, General Electric produced the first electric waffle iron. This innovation helped increase the contraption’s popularity. Now, waffle irons are used in homes across the country.

When you make your waffle, don’t forget the toppings! Syrup, whipped cream, fruit, chocolate and even fried chicken can finish off your masterpiece perfectly. Pick your favorite and celebrate National Waffle Iron Day.

Workaholics Day on Jul 5th

Workaholics are pretty easy to spot. They are the first people to enter the office in the morning and the last to leave at the end of the day. On Workaholics Day, salute the workaholics in your office and help them relax.

If you are related to a workaholic, today is an especially important day for you. Pry this person away from his or her desk. Show them the benefits of a day off! Take an afternoon nap, read a book or procrastinate on the web. Tell them that they can finish their work tomorrow!

Workaholics Day is also a good opportunity to take a step back and evaluate your work ethic. Recognize the tremendous dedication that workaholics show but also think about the advantages of breaks. Today, try to work at a pace that achieves a happy medium. Find your balance!

World UFO Day on Jul 2nd

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F-XNtzMmP4JOA%2FTg6tQHabWXI%2FAAAAAAAAEnw%2FPhwc2XBNWfc%2Fs1600%2FWorld%2BUFO.jpg&hash=3c0a608fb7316d2bfec835a62acadfc4125e9670)

Many people are certain that aliens from outer space have visited Earth. They believe that there is enough evidence to support alleged UFO (“Unidentified Flying Object”) sightings, such as the incident of 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. That’s why today is World UFO Day!

The idea of aliens has always spiked human curiosity. Our imaginations run wild when we think about the possibility of life in worlds outside of our own. It shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that aliens have a prominent spot in Hollywood. A great way to celebrate World UFO day is to watch a science fiction movie. Some favorite flicks about extraterrestrials are "Star Wars", "Signs" and "E.T". If science fiction movies aren't your thing, dream up some intergalactic-themed crafts to make today, like a UFO-shaped cake!
No matter what you believe, today is the celebration of the possibility of life beyond Earth. So let your imagination soar and may the "force" be with you!

World UFO Day was first celebrated in 2001. For a while there were two World UFO days in the year: 24 June and 2 July; however, WUFODO (World UFO Day Organization) has now declared 2 July to be the official World UFO day.

Doctor's Day on Jul 1st

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F-Dps5GWCfCYw%2FTg6uzi7l08I%2FAAAAAAAAEn0%2FPnyETvxtkUM%2Fs1600%2Fdoctors%2Bday.jpg&hash=c8389fd353673e78642a4bf4493ca1d8319dfbb2)

The Doctor's Day is celebrated on July 1 all across India to honour the legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on July 1, 1882 and passed away on the same date in 1962, aged 80 years. Doctor Roy was honoured with the highest civilian honour of Bharat Ratna in 1961.

However, the day will be observed as Black Day and doctors will hold a march from Gumar Mandi to protest against the Clinical Establishment Bill. The decision was taken by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana.  According to the association, the government took the decision unilaterally, completely ignoring the problems of medical fraternity. The members said it will lead to tremendous increase in the cost of treatment due to expenses needed to fulfill the provisions of the Bill.

Meteor Day on Jun 30th

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com%2F-iKUSsfXO2oQ%2FTgvPvIKtpwI%2FAAAAAAAAEm0%2Fqw73TTHKxeY%2Fs1600%2Fmeteor.jpg&hash=fd882e44f667b8e9ab2c3c03f4ffae80021e8a7d)

The word 'meteor' refers to the visible streak of light produced by fallen debris from space—'meteoroids'. We also call these beautiful sights 'shooting stars' or 'falling stars'.
Did you know that shooting stars are actually quite small? In fact, the average meteoroid is about the size of a pebble. Though many meteoroids enter the earth’s atmosphere every day, few of them actually hit the earth. When they do, they are called 'meteorites'.
Tonight, make sure you look to the skies. If you see a meteor, don’t forget to make a wish! Happy Meteor Day!
