Cast: Vikram Prabhu, Ranya Rao
Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Mohan Raj, Arunraja Kamaraj
Music: D.Imman
Direction: GNR Kumaravelan
Album Analysis:
Yedho Maayam Seigirai
Singers: Jithin Raj, Vikram Prabhu
Lyrics: Mohan Raj
The song starts with Vikram Prabhu vocalizing few lines and the tune kicks in later. The song albeit similar to some of Imman’s previous numbers is worthy of a listen and is likely to get better with the visuals. The second interludes add nuances to the track.
Aasai Kadhal Aaruirae
Singer: Vandana Srinivasan
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
The best of the lot! ‘Aasai Kadhal’ sees Vandana Srinivasan in fine form delivering a typical Imman melody. The pitching of the rendition is done with élan with a pellucid diction. Vairamuthu’s lyrics play out nicely along with the tune. There are haunting chorus portions near the end of the track that gives a gothic sense to this profound melody.
Aaniye Pudunga Venandaa
Singer: Shenbagaraj
Lyrics: Arunraja Kamaraj
‘Aaniye Pudunga’ is probably too loud and jarring to appeal instantly. The ‘kuthu’ tune, ‘local’ lyrics with dubstep-EDM arrangements sound interesting on paper. But, the execution is somewhat stale. There is always a skip button in iPods.
Sollathan Ninaikiren
Singer: Divya Kumar
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
The eternal pallavi line ‘Sollathan Ninaikiren’ gets a new makeover in Imman’s retro-ish arrangements. Divya Kumar, who is a regular associate of Imman these days, takes care of the vocals and deliberately sounds nasal at few places that add a lot of depth to the singing. Although the backgrounds sound forced & too modern for what it tries to be, there is enough pep in the track to keep one occupied.
Love For Our Nation
Instrumental
This instrumental track sets the tone for the film and tries to stay rooted to the emotional core of the movie. The vocal humming employed here propels the theme music and one can expect this to feature in heavy scenes in the movie. Neatly bridges the patriotic feeling with the emotional undertone!
On the whole, the melodies in the album has a Kumki hangover but the composer has stuck to his domain and continues to churn out hummable melodies.
