Cast:    Ajith, Anushka Shetty, Trisha Krishnan, Arun Vijay, Vivek
Direction:    Gowtham Menon
Production:    A. M. Rathnam, A. Raguram, Sunil Lulla, Gautham Menon
Music:    Harris JayarajEver since the news broke that Gautham is directing Ajith, the fans and movie buffs have been waiting to see how the movie would shape up? Will it be a Gautham’s movie where Ajith reprises what the director say or it would be the other way round? But, the recently released teaser has put an end to all those speculations and one could clearly see that Gautham had made use of Ajith’s mass factor and cleverly mixed his stylish story telling.

Gautham Vasudev Menon has mentioned that the story will be travelling from the view point of Ajith and he tried to cover the life of ‘Sathyadev’ between 28-38. The teaser showed three stages of Ajith and his decision to stay put in the right and wrong side of his life.

Casting:

Arun Vijay has been roped in to flex his muscles against Ajith while Trish and Anushka will be romancing Gautham’s brain child. Vivek, who filled the comic portions in Gautham’s first movie ‘Minnale’ has found a place in this action drama.

Technical crew:

Harris Jayaraj is on board for a Gautham’s movie after seven long years, and the BGM in the teaser is more than enough to say that he is well and truly back to create one more epic like, ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, and ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu’. The cinematographer Dan Mcarthur, who stayed  put with Gautham even after two projects which shelved and his visuals are quite promising in the teaser. Kollywood fans might get to see a different tone altogether with ‘YA’.

Expectation:

Ajith movie’s doesn’t require a huge push in terms of marketing and the last two days is a fine example for the same. The teaser got a thunderous welcome as it gained more than 1.5 million views with a record number of ‘Thumbs up’ (like) to the video. The makers have announced that the movie will be out for Pongal, 2015, and expected to create new avenues for both Gautham and Ajith Kumar.

Yennai Arindhaal:Ajith fans to have an unique audio launch

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom3jIajggbggc.jpg&hash=1558243117d4df1bbda26564818925ff0847ea44)

It is well known fact that Ajith never encourage grand audio launches for his films and he himself avoid attending film related functions.

Despite Ajith’s polite requests, his die-hard fans are planning a surprise for him to reiterate the fact that Ajith is the only hero who commands the best opening in Tamil Nadu.

Now the audio of Ajith’s Yennai Arindhaal will be releasing on January 1st and again the team is not having any special function for it but what we hear from Ajith fans is that they are planning for a unique audio launch at Ritchie Street, Chennai.

Fans from various zones in Chennai will be present for the audio launch and also similar functions are being planned in other parts of Tamil Nadu as well. Mean time, the trailer of Yennai Arindhaal will also be released on January 1st and it is officially confirmed through a press statement.

'Yennai Arindhaal' trailer opens to tremendous response

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom3jIajggbggc.jpg&hash=1558243117d4df1bbda26564818925ff0847ea44)

For Thala Ajith fans, New Year started with a stunning power-packed trailer of Yennai Arindhaal.

The trailer had Gautham Menon trademark stamp written all over it. The two minutes visuals had glimpses of two beautiful heroines, a rough and tough protagonist (Thala Ajith) and rich cinematography along with the trendy edits of Anthony who is a regular in any Gautham Menon film but the real surprising fact is that Thiyagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam fame has co-written the film which has certainly created huge curiosity about the film.

The real lynchpin of Yennai Arindhaal trailer is of course Ajith, the actor’s screen presence taking the visuals to a different level. The way Ajith fiercely orders a villain saying “Innum Oru Nimisham Inga Iruntha **** (sleaze word) Un Thala irukathu easily shows that the film is going to have many such mass scenes.

The trailer ends with a voice over “Now get the **** (Sleaze word) out.  The two minutes trailer also depicted the bond between Ajith and a little girl and gives an idea of Arun Vijay’s powerful role.

Yennai Airndhaal trailer opened with tremendous response that it has clocked in nearly 3.5 lakhs views in 8 hours.

'Yennai Arindhal' pushed to Jan 29!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom0wKOidjaife_small.jpg&hash=8766d821e8f1cb583ca3128e9ab1596aa52fb7a1)

It is official producer AM Ratnam has confirmed that his Ajith starrer Yennai Arindhal directed by Gautham Menon will release on January 29. Please note the film was so far advertised as a Pongal 2015 release.

The audio and trailer of the film was released at mid-night on Jan 1, 2015 and has been well received. AM Ratnam felt that due to post-production delays it would be better that the film releases on January 29, as he did not want to do a hurried job.

Speaking to us, AM Ratnam said : “ The Re-Recording of Yennai Arindhal is going on and Harris Jayaraj will hopefully complete the work in a week’s time. I hope to get the film censored before January 15 and start work on the release.”

It clearly means that Shankar directed I and Vishal’s Sundar C directed Aambala will be the only Pongal releases. Karthi’s Komban and Sivakarthikeyan’s Kakki Sattai which were planned as Pongal releases have been shifted to February.

'Yennai Arindhaal' audio review

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom0wKOidjaife_small.jpg&hash=8766d821e8f1cb583ca3128e9ab1596aa52fb7a1)

Cast: Ajit Kumar,Trisha,Anushka,Vivek,Arun Vijay,Parvathy Nair
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Lyrics: Thamarai
Direction: Gautham Menon

Yennai Arindhaal stars Ajith, Anushka, Trisha, Vivek and many others and is being directed by Gautham Menon while Harris Jayaraj reunites with Gautham after ‘Varanam Aayiram’ as the music composer. The movie has been the cynosure among the announced Pongal releases and carries huge expectations. Let us check out whether Harris has opened 2015 with a bang or not:

Yaen Ennai
Singers: Sunitha Sarathy,Kharesma Ravichandran
Lyrics: Thamarai
‘Yaen Ennai’ is Harris trying to experiment with the vocals of Sunitha Sarathy who sounds completely western here which works totally in synch with the tune. This number which will be picturized on Anushka has traces of ‘Thoodhu Varuma’ in the charanam portions and the samples from ‘Google Google’ do make an appearance here and there. The song has a tinge of auto-tune but at no point, it spoils the pep of the track. A slow poison!

Mazhai Vara Pogudhae
Singers: Karthik,Emcee Jezz
Lyrics: Thamarai
To begin with, ‘Mazhai Vara Pogudhae’ is an absolute rocking song much on the lines of Harris’s usual numbers but Karthik simply elevates the song with his rendition. The song has a catchy hook, foot tapping beats and the lyrics by Thamarai deserve special praise too. The synthesizer woven interlude adds a new layer of freshness to the track. Instantly likeable number!

Unakenna Venum Sollu
Singers: Benny Dayal, Mahathi
Lyrics: Thamarai
‘Unakenna Venum Sollu’ is a pretty soothing melody backed mainly by the guitar strumming & light percusssions. The tune is free flowing and Thamarai’s lyrics are certainly uplifting. Benny Dayal shoulders the tune effectively while Mahathi makes a welcome comeback. ‘Unakenna Venum Sollu’ is a perfect example for why simple tunes work more spontaneously than the loud and jarring ones.

Yennai Arindhaal
Singers: Devan Ekambaram,Mark Thomas,Abhishek
Lyrics: Thamarai
The much awaited title track! ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ is a dubstep feast where Harris has mixed Devan’s base vocals effectively along with several EDM pieces and dubstep arrangements. The music portion which was heard in the teaser features as an interlude here. The bassline in the track is a delight for people who listen to this in headphones. A uber cool heroic number!

Adhaaru Adhaaru
Singers: Vijay Prakash,Gaana Bala
Lyrics: Vignesh Shivan
Probably the weakest track in the album! ‘Adhaaru Adhaaru’ is Harris trying his hand at folkish kuthu & the results are pretty underwhelming. The tune looks dated and the instant catchiness one would associate with a Harris number is missing. Aimed at the masses, this track is expected to get a rousing reception for the dance & visuals.

Maya Bazaar
Singers: Aalap Raju,Priya Subramanian,Velmurugan,Krishna Iyer
Lyrics: Thamarai
‘Maya Bazaar’ is basically the culmination of several mini tracks of three separate genres and in all probabilities, would be the track to feature Trisha in the movie. The first segment which is similar to the Title track is enriched with dubstep and catchy lyrics while the second & fourth segments are classical ones reminiscent of the 60’s with Aalap Raaju & Priya Subramanian’s vocals. The small ode to ‘Kalyana Samayal Saadham’ in the second interlude is a clever addition. The best part of the song is when the track goes into folk mode where Velmurugan dominates the show. A total surprise package!

Idhayathai Yedho Ondru
Singers: Chinmayi
Lyrics:Thamarai
‘Idhayathai Yedho Ondru’ is the female solo version of ‘Unakena Venum Sollu’ with Chinmayi’s vocals taking the honors. The tune works one more time and the pan flute interlude adds lot of depth to the track. ‘Heartwarming’ is the word!

On the whole, ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ is a solid album having tracks in a variety of genres like dubstep, melody, western, fusion, folk, etc. Except his attempt with ‘Adhaaru Adhaaru’, the remaining songs work instantly and would add great value to the movie. Although the longevity of these songs is there to be tested, Harris Jayaraj-Gautham Menon’s combination proves once again to be fruitful and shows how Harris can deliver when he works with his favorite director. Yennai Arindhaal is among Harris Jayaraj’s better work in recent times.

Why ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ will be a must watch?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom0wKOidjaife_small.jpg&hash=8766d821e8f1cb583ca3128e9ab1596aa52fb7a1)

The trailer of ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ threw a massive surprise in the title cards as they have shown two prominent people in the industry; they are, Thiyagarajan Kumararajah and Sriram Raghavan. Here we tell you what we can expect from these two guys.

Sriram Raghavan – A notable scriptwriter, who was born in TN and raised in Pune. Sriram Raghavan completed the filmmaking course back in 1987 and shot to fame with his stories for CID teleserial. Later, he went on to direct, ‘Johnny Gaddar’, which marked the debut of, ‘Kaththi’ villain, Neil Nithin Mukesh in Hindi. His last film was, ‘Agent Vinod’, starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Thiagrajan Kumararajah – The director of, ‘Aranya Kaandam’, which received global acclaim prior to its official release in TN. The gangster saga is considered as one of the top 10 films ever made in Tamil cinema and the fans have been asking for the original bluray print to its producer for more than 3 years now. Such is the response to the movie and the movie buffs are excited to see him in action once again.

Now, this is where, Gautham Vasudev Menon shines better than other directors’. He has let his ego and discussed his script with the best brains in the industry to start a new trend. Given the track record of Sriram and Thiyagarajan Kumararajah, one can guess that Gautham has let them to fine tune the characterizations of Ajith in the episodes of Cop & Gangster. And, there is Gautham, who can seamlessly handle the love sequences.

This is where, ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ stands out big time and with just one ticket for 120 rupees, we might get to see three movies from 3 very good directors/screen writers.

‘Yennai Arindhaal’ overtakes ‘I’

Fans of Ajith have been doing some tremendous public relation works for their faith star’s movie and they have already shown enough love for the teaser of ‘Yennai Arindhaal’. Now, they have repeated the same for the trailer, and overtook the number of ‘likes’ garnered by ‘I’ in less than 36 hours.

‘I’ got 47k odd likes and ‘YA’ received 48k thumbs up and going strong. Adding to the excitement, the songs are topping the charts, but, the only disappointment is, the movie is getting postponed for a fortnight, and it will hit the screens only on Jan 29th.

Well, Gautham Menon is known for giving his audiences pleasant surprises and it looks like he has few more in his kitty as far as Yennai Arindhaal is concerned.

Initially Gautham did not reveal the information that Aaranya Kaandam director Thiyagarajan Kumararaja has co-written the script of Yennai Arindhaal and later we all came to know it through the trailer credits.

Now the latest is that Daniel Balaji who played as a deadly psychopath in Gautham Menon's Vettaiyadu Vilayadu is playing a crucial role in Yennai Arindhaal and it was revealed through the film's promotional posters.

Yennai Arindhaal has ensemble of star cast including Thala Ajith, Trisha, Anushka, Arun Vijay.

A thrilling surprise in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ cast

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom0wKOidjaife_small.jpg&hash=8766d821e8f1cb583ca3128e9ab1596aa52fb7a1)

Well, ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ is not releasing for this Pongal, but that hasn’t dampened the spirits of Ajith fans as the team ‘YA’ is keeping them busy by releasing pictures and revealing small surprises, often. The latest, ‘rabbit out of the hat’ move is, Daniel Balaji’s role in the movie. Daniel’s role as Amudhan was well received in, ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu’ and the fans are quite excited to see his face on the posters and started to predict, what he would be doing in the movie.

In the mean time, the team ‘YA’ is very upbeat about the movie business and the Chennai distribution rights are said to be sold for a record price. As Ajith fans claim, this year, we could see the euphoria for Pongal twice, one being on the 14th and the other one for ‘YA’ release.

Two climax for 'Yennai Arindhaal'?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fpbkm3yhjcjjda.jpg&hash=daa0a501bc06d861d14b3e400aec0c934447d262)

Gautham Menon is having a successful track record of having two climaxes for his films and in some of them he has changed the climax after knowing the response from the general public.

In Khakha Khakha, Maya (Jyothika) was murdered in the theatrical version while the DVD had a climax in which Jyothika was shown alive. Similarly the Telugu version of Khakha Khakha which is also directed by Gautham Menon had a positive climax where Asin and Venkatesh lead a happy life.

innai Thaandi Varuvaya too, there were two climaxes for Tamil and Telugu versions respectively. In Telugu the lead pair joins together in real life while the Tamil version had a different climax.

Now sources say that Gautham Menon’s Yennai Arindhaal will also be have two climaxes but Gautham Menon is yet to fix one.  Though a little birdie, revealed a clue we won’t be breaking the suspense now!

Dan Macarthur speaks about 'Yennai Arindhaal'

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FpbmuFWbehbbfc_small.jpg&hash=74b5d32978cf86c302e9b78eb82ac21060cb38f1)

Ajith was by far the most interesting actor I’ve ever worked with – says Dan Macarthur, cameraman of 'Yennai Arindhaal '

After Thala Ajith, one factor which impressed everyone in the trailer of Yennai Arindhaal is Australian cinematographer Dan Macarthur’s scintillating cinematography. Dan is currently in Australia and  we had a chance to interact with him. Excerpts...

Rarely do we see cinematographers from foreign land agreeing to work in a Tamil film. How did Yennai Arindhaal happen and what made you to accept the film?
The project came up while Gautham and I were working on the Simbu film. I heard mention about the project and Gautham pitched the idea to me and it sounded like a big concept, so I was happy to come on-board.

Gautham Menon is known for his aesthetic and gritty portrayal in his movies... he is a rare director who captures romance aesthetically and executes violence in his own style. Few words on your experience on working with him
Gautham is a very calm and relaxed person to work with which I really like. I think he tries to get himself as close as possible to the characters and the story. There are many times during the shoot when he just likes to roll camera on candid actor interaction, because films can be so contrived and he tries to capture these natural moments.

We are absolutely impressed with the visuals seen in the trailer Of Yennai Arindhaal. It looks like you have used different color tones projecting different time periods in the film. We also got to know that Ajith sporting four different looks for the four different time period … Do tell us something about it
Yes, the film does flash backs to earlier adventures in Ajith’s (character’s) life and separating those time frames was a goal of mine. For those looks I used older lenses and I shot in ways that would be in sync with those times to create a different feel for each era. I applied certain ‘rules’ if you like to the modern day such as the extreme low depth of field, which is used widely in modern cinema.

We know cinema is a universal medium but working in a Tamil film would have demanded you to know more about the culture and taste of Tamil audience so that you can deliver a product which will be enjoyed them. Did you change your usual style for Yennai Arindhaal?
That’s an interesting question because there were quite a few times when Producers were inquisitive about how I was lighting and shooting because the audiences are used to a certain style here.  I do have a different style from what is the norm here but I think that’s what Gautham was really interested in and from the initial audience feedback it’s paying off already. Many times I used quite dark lighting in scenes to add some mystery and mood. In other scenes, like love stories, I wanted to show that the audience could feel safe with some high key lighting and be able to identify with that style.

Ajith is a superstar here in Tamil Nadu and we get to know that he is having excellent skill in photography as well? Few words on Ajith and your experience of working with him...
I’ve said this quite a few times and there is no word of a lie when I say that Ajith was by far the most pleasurable actor I’ve ever worked with. His keenness and attentiveness on set was always 100 percent and that really made my life easy. He was always very keen to do the small things I had asked him in order to favor the light etc and I really hope I get to work with Ajith again soon.

Rarely do we see western films having songs but a well choreographed song is must for a Tamil film. Gautham Menon used to convey stories through songs as well. Share your experience in filming a song and did you enjoy doing it?
I love the song aspect of Indian films. It’s a romantic side that is rare in western films. It’s also like film magic where the audience gets go on a fantasy journey and I love that about Indian films. So much of that film magic has been lost in my opinion in western films which suffer greatly from harsh opinions and reality checks. The big song scenes also tend to feature beautiful landscapes or colorful studio sets which gave me some creative scope with the cinematography.

Which is that one song you like from Yennai Arindhaal?
There is a traveling song during the film which is a really beautiful part of the story that Gautham has told and it brings a tear to everyone’s eye. I love that song.

Can we see Dan Macarthur doing more Tamil films in future? Do tell us about your future projects...
I think for sure I’ll be spending more time in Tamilnadu.I’ve never experienced such appreciation for cinematography in a film, hence i feel good.

Harris & Gautham works 24*7 for 'Yennai Arindhaal'

Both Gautham Menon and Harris Jayaraj are working day and night to complete the background score of Yennai Arindhaal.

Harris posted "After continuous sleepless nights of working 24/7, the director and myself crashed during the last day...."

It's quite common that the makers use dummy score for censor and later enhance it till the last moment to bring the best for the film and it happened with Yennai Arindhaal as well.

It has to be noted that after seven years Harris Jayaraj and Gautham Menon are working together in Yennai Arindhaal, already the songs are big hits while fans are waiting to witness the background score of Harris.

'Yennai Arindhaal'- Tidbits

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FpcepBefagehfc.jpg&hash=e2a1ec394d7c1723b1444acc1244dff1d0fd1ab7)

Thala Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal is all set to have grand release tomorrow (Feb 5) worldwide. We bring you seven interesting tidbits about the film, which are revealed by Gautham Menon himself in a video interview

Running time & Extended version
The final cut of Yennai Arindhaal which we are going to see will have a running time of 2hr and 46 mins but Gautham Menon is planning to release the extended version after three weeks after the release in selected screens. He is also planning to release the uncut version soon on dvd and tv unning time will be 190 minutes.

 A script like Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu
When Ajith met Gautham Menon, the actor suggested to come up with something like Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu and hence Gautham Menon made it as a cop story.

Anushka as Thenmozhi, Trisha as Hemanika
When AM Ratnam approached Gautham Menon, he wanted Ajith and Anushka to play the lead roles but by the time Gautham wrote the complete script he got an idea to rope in Trisha for a particular role of Hemanika.

During the narration, Trisha was initially skeptical about signing the film as Anushka is also having a strong role in the film. When Gautham conveyed this to Anushka, she expressed to interchange her role but later both the divas understood that their respective characters are having equal scope.

Arun Vijay as Victor
Gautham Menon is highly impressed with Arun Vijay's performance in the film. "Being a hero, Arun Vijay's idea of playing a different character is something laudable” said the actor in a recent interaction.

Gautham Menon also equally complimented Ajith as he allowed having Arun Vijay to enjoy good screen space in the film.

Vivek as Revolver Richard
Vivek plays a character called Revolver Richard. Gautham Menon says he feels that the advantage of casting Vivek is far too many and his character travels throughout with Ajith.

Harris and Gautham joining after seven years
After seven years, both Gautham and Harris Jayaraj are working together. Gautham says that though he and Harris didn't work together all these years, they always remained family friends.

After Gautham signed Yennai Arindhaal, he went to Harris' place along with his wife.

Deja vu of Gautham's previous films in Yennai Arindhaal
People saying that the trailer of Yennai Arindhaal reminds us about Gautham Menon's previous works but the director says there is nothing wrong about it.

Gautham says just like how audiences expect some touches of Mani Ratnam, Bharathiraja or Mysskin in their films, he too have some trademark things in his movies. Having said that the director clarified that he is not comparing himself with the legends but 'director's touch' is inevitable.

Gautham says that he takes real life inspirations from his experience and incorporate it while writing scripts hence there will be similarities in his movies.

Record opening for 'Yennai Arindhaal' in US

Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal has been opened with favorable reviews and the film registered a record opening for Thala Ajith in USA.

The film has grossed $113,232 (approx 69 lakhs ) in 75 screens on its premiere day which is really good. Ajith's previous best was Arrambam and now Yennai Arindhaal has broke the record.

It would be really interesting to see whether Yennai Arindhaal breaks Arrambam's life time USA collection of 380k$ and enters the half million club along with Rajini, Kamal, Vijay and Vikram.

Directed by Gautham Menon, the film also has Trisha and Anushka playing the female leads.

Yennai Arindhaal Movie Review

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fim.sify.com%2Fsifycmsimg%2Ffeb2015%2FEntertainment%2FMovies%2FTamil%2F15058970_yarindal340.jpg&hash=936bc85bd77fc5b77e2a3d8dffd331c73a138601)

Director: Gautham Vasudev Menon
Cast: Ajith, Trisha, Anushka,
Music: Harris Jayaraj

Yennai Arindhaal is a typical Gautham Menon movie and one can call it as the director’s cop trilogy. After Suriya (Khakha Khakha) and Kamal Haasan (Vettaiyaddu Vilayadu), this time Ajith wears the Khaki and it is yet another episode in a police officer’s life.

The film starts with Thenmozhi (Anushka) who meets the mysterious Sathya Dev (Ajith) in a flight and from there we basically get to know the story of Ajith, an undercover cop who befriends gangster Victor (Arun Vijay) in jail. Later, like any other undercover missions seen in upteen movies, Ajith unmasks himself at one point of time and kills the head of the powerful gang and puts Arun Vijay back in prison. The rest of the film is a mere cat and mouse game between the duo.

To be honest, Yennai Arindhaal is just a rehash of all Gautham Menon movies in the past, but here the novel factor is the emotional quotient between Ajith and his daughter Isha (Baby Anikha ) and the mature yet cute romance between Ajith and Trisha. But sadly, those sequences come only for thirty minutes.

Coming to the main theme, the film lacks the reason behind Arun Vijay’s revenge against Ajith and it is left to the audience as it is obvious that Ajith is the protagonist and Arun Vijay is the antagonist. Yennai Arindhaal definitely has its moments and keeps us entertained but somewhere down the line, the mixing is inappropriate.

To point out, the initial gangster portions lacks detailed depiction and it seems that a lot of scenes are chopped off, may be an extended version will do the needful but as of now the back story is not convincing. Also, romantic portion between Anushka and Ajith falls flat which is strange for a Gautham Menon film.

Performance wise, it is Ajith’s best work in recent times. The actor is full of energy and constantly shines in the classic emotional portions and racy action sequences. The scene where Ajith yells at Ashish Vidyarthi is one of the best mass moments in the film and also the scene where he single handedly threatens group of goons while safeguarding Anushka and Anika evokes an electrifying atmosphere. After Ajith, it is Arun Vijay who takes the film to a different level in the film especially his phone conversations with Ajith is terrific.

Trisha looks beautiful and elegantly emotes in the brief role but her presence is felt throughout the movie, thanks to her pleasing face, endearing performance and good characterization. Anushka like all her recent films (Irandam Ulagam, Lingaa) looks jaded and mature in a not-so-well etched out role.

Technically, Dan Macarthu’s cinematography is scintillating that he captures both the tense and emotional portions with vivid color tones. Harris Jayaraj songs (has a sense of déjà vu) and background score along with editing by Antony is commendable.

Overall, Watch Yennai Arindhaal for Ajith’s majestic screen presence and the underlying emotional current.

Arun Vijay moved to tears

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fpb3kWKjfefich_small.jpg&hash=e02aa9d6d5f5626303aff0a08bcdd8dd6e34bdae)

Arun Vijay made his debut in 1995 which is almost twenty years back but the actor got his break only before five years back in Thadayara Thakka.

Now the actor has reinvented himself, and played a baddie in Ajith's latest film Yennai Arindhaal which fetched huge appreciation and his character Victor had good scope in the last thirty minutes of the film. His body language, good looks and above the amount of hardwork the actor has invested is to be seen.

On the opening day, the Arun Vjay visited Kasi theater in Chennai and after seeing him, the crowd cheered and applauded for his solid performance.

An overwhelmed Arun Vijay moved to tears as his hard work has finally paid off. The actor's next film will be Vaa Deal.

Ajith's Gautham Menon directed Yennai Arindhaal has taken a very good opening  worldwide.  In US it has taken best ever opening for a Ajith film and in TN and Kerala also it has done well.

In Tamil Nadu the film has netted approximately Rs 8.35 Crore on day one (Feb 5) , which is good for a big film on a working day. If the film had released on a holiday and if it was tax free, collections would have been more impressive.

Tamil films seems to be doing well in Kerala. Yennai Arindhaal has grossed nearly Rs 1.65 Crore, a net of approximately Rs 1.30 Crores and a share of Rs 75 lakhs.

In US the distributors Atmus has said best ever Ajith's day one opening. It opened in 75 screens with a record opening of  $113,232.

'Yennai Arindhaal' gets trimmed, holding well at BO

Thala Ajith's Yennai Arindhaal is holding well at the box office and now the makers have decided to trim six minutes of the film. Sources say that as majority of the audience feel that in the first half is slow paced , they have chopped Anushka's introduction song portions in the film.

Mean time, the film is doing humongous business at the USA box office. The film has grossed nearly 415k US $ till Saturday which means it has crossed the lifetime business of Arrambam which is around 380k$.

Previously Arrambam was Ajith's best film at the US box office, now Yennai Arindhaal  broke it in just 3 days (Premiere + 2 days ). Directed by Gautham Menon, Yennai Arindhaal also has Trisha, Anushka, Arun Vijay and Vivek to its star cast.

Is 'Yennai Arindhaal' a profitable venture?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FpckkB4aiggeia.jpg&hash=8ecbc7f9c36b329a8002d84054f02f828899a18b)

Thala Ajith's Gautham Vasudev Menon directed Yennai Arindhaal took a decent opening worldwide. It has grossed nearly Rs 50 crores world wide in its first four days opening weekend - Feb 5 to 8.

In Tamil Nadu alone the film has grossed approximately Rs 32 Cr with a net (after tax) of Rs 24.5 Cr.   Considering the non-holiday release schedule, it is decent and showed Ajith's opening power. In other territories like Kerala and Karnataka, the film is doing average business.

In Kerala, Yennai Arindhaal  managed to gross Rs 2.8 crores and in Karnataka, the film has grossed 3.7 crs (approx).Though, the film did rocking business in USA by collecting 400k$, the opening in UK and Australia is not up to the level of other biggies like Kaththi and I.

Overall, the opening weekend gross of the film is nearly 50 crores, with a net box office around Rs 35 Cr worldwide, which is good. The film carries mixed reports and at the end, may emerge as just an average grosser.

Gautham Menon open to the idea of a YA sequel

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FpckkB4aiggeia.jpg&hash=8ecbc7f9c36b329a8002d84054f02f828899a18b)

Yennai Arindhaal after an encouraging start has failed to create magic at the box-office, considering the huge budget of the film. But in various interactions, Gautham Menon has hinted that he has an idea to direct a sequel to Yennai Arindhaal as the film is driven by Sathyadev’s character!

Now the director has said that he indeed suggested the sequel idea to Ajith and now it is up to the star to consider to go for a sequel of Yennai Arindhaal or not.

Gautham Menon says the sequel won’t be a cop story but an intense emotional bond between a retired cop Sathyadev  (Ajith) and his fourteen year old daughter Eesha.

As of now, Gautham will complete the STR film which has been put on the backburner when Ajith film came through.
