A major tourist attraction and one of the superior Lahore's landmarks, the Badshahi Mosque was built by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1673 to become a reminder of the majesty and the grandeur of the Mughal era architecture. In terms of its size, Badshahi is the second largest mosque in Pakistan, after the Islamabad's Faisal Mosque. The materials used for the construction of the Mosque are red sand stone and marble. Four minarets, soaring up to the impressive 54 meters, with an outer circumference of 20 meters, surround the seven prayer chambers. Tasteful decoration, consisting of frescoes, Islamic calligraphy and traditional Persian tile sheathing cover the walls and the roofs of the prayer halls. Exceptional monumentality lends the usage of marble and stone for the interiors and the exteriors of the Mosque. Pretty sensible is the Indian, Central Asian and Indo-Greek influence in regards to the embellishment. Near the Badshahi Mosque one could also check in the mausoleum of the poet-philosopher Dr Sir Allama Muhammad lqbal, entirely made of red sandstone, delivered from Rajasthan.

Situated centrally in the amazing city of Lahore, the Lahore Fort is astounding fortified palace complex, which has served as seat for all of the successful governments. According to reliable sources, the mud fort existed there in 1021, when the Mughal Emperor Akbar conquered the area and constructed modern fort on the old mud foundations. The Lahore Fort has gone through rapid development and renovation processes ever since it was restored, as every succeeding emperor added wall, palace and pavilion, making it this way the one and only monument, which keeps the tracks of the entire history of Mughal architecture. The Fort has 13 gates, as the main are located on the eastern and the western walls. The western gate, called Alamgiri gate, is nowadays used as main entrance. Once you go through the twin-domed entrance of this magnificent complex, you will find yourself in the marvellous inferiority of the Fort. There you will indulge in the beauty of the lavishly decorated pavilions and courtyard. Some of them boast still intact gorgeous wall decorations of colourful painted designs and sumptuous semiprecious stones. A stand-out fact in regards to the scales of the complex is that is large enough to make it possible for several elephants to enter at one time, while carrying the royal family members. For the purposes of these ceremonial elephant processions there were built flight of stone steps.

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vacationhomes.net%2Fblog%2Fpub%2F1330515154_Minar-e-Pakistan.jpg&hash=5f2e7fe67685f1b143d4d922cd07816b4abcabbd)

Recognized officially as the National Monument of Pakistan, the Minar-e-Pakistan was built to commemorate the notorious Lahore Resolution, during which Pakistan Muslim League managed to regain the foundation of a separate homeland for the sub-continental Muslims. The tower is work of the architect/engineer Nasreddin Murat-Khan, who supervised and designed it free of cost. Minar-e-Pakistan soars to a height of approximately 60 meters and is constructed of reinforced concrete, as the walls and floors are rendered in marble and stone. The tower consists of four different platforms, all with particular structure and composition. Built of uncut Taxila stones, the first platform comes to symbolize the timid beginning of the freedom struggle. Hammer-dressed stone is the material, which the second platform is constructed of, while the third one is made of chiselled stones. The success of the Pakistan Movement is represented via the polished white marble, which the fourth final platform consists of. Through its in-gradation architecture the Minar-e-Pakistan bears special symbolism which makes it even more mysterious and attractive.

Situated in one of the busiest parts of the Walled City, the Wazir Khan Mosque will enchant you with its beauty once you enter it. Its construction started in 1634-35, during the glorious reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan and lasted the impressive seven years. Originally it was accessible through 13 gates, but presently only 6 of them have survived. What make the mosque famous are its octagonal corner minarets and the extensive and beautifully glazed faience tile work, also known as terra-cotta. The interior courtyard is marked by the 107 feet high minarets, decorated with unique mosaic tiles made up of Arabic calligraphy and floral motifs. In the construction of this fantastic structure is used small tile-like brick instead of stone. What makes it even more unusual is the fact it is one of the first mosques worldwide, which incorporates shops (22 in the presence) into its design.
