Cast:    Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha, Jagapathi Babu
Direction:    K. S. Ravikumar
Production:    Rockline Venkatesh
Music:    A. R. Rahman

After a gap of four years Superstar Rajinikanth made a comeback this year, with ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ directed by his daughter Soundarya Ashwin Rajinikanth. The 3D animated film is not inferior to the recent films of the Superstar in terms of box office collections.

As a pleasant surprise to his fans, the actor started acting in his next film even before the release of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’. This is of course a phenomenon that was not seen in the actor’s career at least for the past two decades. Rajini has taken up ‘Lingaa’ that is being directed by K.S.Ravikumar and produced by Rockline Venkatesh.

The story written by Ponkumaran has pre independence and contemporary portions and the audience can get to see their matinee idol in dual roles. Bolloywood heroine Sonakshi Sinha is debuting in Tamil as the love interest of Rajini’s character in the pre-independence era while Anusha has been paired up with the character played by Rajini in the present day portions. The film also features Santhanam, Karuna, Radharavi, R.Sundarrajan and many other actors in the supporting cast. Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu has been roped in to play an important role which is reportedly the lead villain role in the film.

Music is being scored by A.R.Rahman and Rathnavelu handles the camera. The shooting of the film is 70% complete and the film is touted to release in December.

Sudheep in ‘Lingaa’?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F03%2FSudeep-150x150.jpg&hash=56c9371093830a72ae951561f175b9a96a02e0c0)

It is a well known news that Rajinikanth holds a special place for Sudheep’s acting skills. The Superstar  has called Sudheep to his house and appreciated him for his stupendous acting in ‘Naan E’. The final leg of ‘Lingaa’ is underway in Karnatakan, and if the sources are to be believed, Sudheep is taking part in the climax sequences.

There’s already a negative lead, which is being played by Jagapathi Babu, but insiders say, Sudheep’s role is pretty crucial & K.S. Ravikumar, who will be directing Sudheep’s next movie in Kannada has requested him to take time and be a part of this movie as well. The movie already boasts a tremendous cast which includes, Sonakshi, Anushka, Santhanam, Karunakaran, and Sudheep’s inclusion will be icing on the cake.

The shooting is progressing swiftly, and Rajini himself has assured the movie will be out for his birthday.

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F08%2Frajani.jpg&hash=ae2b237ffb8db88a740b9ce025d91e14f0affb79)

As we all know, Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ is underway for the final schedule in Shimoga, and the team is working day & night to meet the deadline. Insiders say, the team ‘Lingaa’ was busy shooting some crucial scenes near Linganamakki Dam after getting prior permissions from the authorities. But, some social activists of different Kannada organizations joined hands together and protested against team ‘Lingaa’.

They feared about the shooting might affect the Ecosystem of Lingamakanni Dam. Team ‘Lingaa’ called the officials to the location and made them talk to the protestors. After getting promises from the crew and concerned authorities, the protesters left the scene without creating further fuss. K.S.Ravikumar is directing the film and A.R.Rahman is taking care of the music.

Thambi Ramaiah misses out on 'Lingaa'

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FokgkpCabacffh.jpg&hash=3e916ff144fa6ca2b8809591c023f734e272b3ff)

Thambi Ramaiah is a busy character actor in Tamil. His recent performance in Parthiepan’s KTVI has won him appreciation from several quarters.

He won the national award for Best Supporting actor in Mynaa. He recently got a chance to act with Superstar Rajinikanth in Lingaa. They asked him for 32 days of call sheet from him.

Unfortunately, he is busy with too many movie commitments. So he couldn't accept the movie and thus missed a chance to work with Superstar Rajinikanth in Lingaa.

Actor Thambi Ramaiah will be seen in important role in Siddharth’s Kaaviya Thalaivan, Karthi’s Komban, Vijay’s  Chimbudevan movie and several other upcoming movies. He is also planning to introduce his son Umapathy as a hero.

After Kuselan and Endhiran, comedian Santhanam rejoins Superstar Rajinikanth in Lingaa. As Lingaa wraps up the shoot, he shared his work experience with Superstar, director KS Ravikumar and Anushka.

Santhanam says Rajinikanth has a good sense of humor. Both of them had a great vibe and he felt as though he was working with his regular younger heroes – Arya, Jiiva and others.

Santhanam will accompany Superstar as his friend throughout the movie.

Before working with Dir. KS Ravikumar, he heard a lot about the man as a tough task master, but he enjoyed working with him.  Santhanam has worked with Anushka in several movies earlier such as Singam and Thandavam. Since Anushka is an ex-Yoga teacher, he calls her Guruji on the sets. Santhanam has worked with another comedy actor Karunakaran in Lingaa, and their scenes together are sure to bring the house down.

Rajni intro abroad in Lingaa?!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F08%2Flingaa_rajini1.jpg&hash=2145e10122106cb06100f6a0bee48f0677d98cdd)

Watching a Rajnikanth movie has always been a treat to us because we know we can expect a mass intro song with life lessons in it. Usually, these songs become a super hit too. From the 90s to now, almost all Rajni films have had an intro song, except ‘Endiran’, and ‘Lingaa’ is no exception.

KS Ravikumar’s ‘Lingaa’ is to have an intro song too, but with a twist this time. All intro songs of Rajni have been shot in India, but for the first time, his intro song will be shot abroad, mostly in Europe, says sources. As usual, the song is sung by SP Balasubramaniam. ‘Lingaa’ stars Rajnikanth, Anushka, Sonakshi Sinha, Santhanam and more, it is set for release on the 12th of December, on Superstar’s birthday.

Just two songs left for ‘Lingaa’

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F05%2Flingaa1.jpg&hash=1922dbe5c5bfaca243e5c993c39e681306307e6f)

Superstar Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lingaa’ directed by his lucky mascot K.S.Ravikumar is fast nearing completion.  Reliable sources tell us that the shoot of the entire film is complete but for two songs. One song will be Superstar’s duet with Sonakshi Sinha for which the teea will head to Hyderabad this week.  Another one will be the introduction song of Rajini. A source confirms that the shoot for the romantic number will begin in Hyderabad on October 14.

For a change the intro song of Thalaivar in this film sung by veteran S.P.Balasubramaniam which has been the usual affair for nearly two decades, will be shot in foreign locales and for this the team will travel to Macau, France and Honk Kong. The song will be shot in these locations after Deepavali. The film’s composer A.R.Rahman has composed a stylish and foot tapping number intro song for this film.

As we all know Rajini will be having two roles in the film. One is the contemporary one and Anushka will be the lady love of this character. Santhanam gets to play Rajini’s friend. The other one will be a role set in pre-independence era .  Sonakshi Sinha will be the heroine in these ‘period’ portions and Karunakaran will be the friend of Rajini’s character set in this milieu.

The film produced by Rockline Venkatesh on a grand scale is expected to hit the screens on December 12 as Superstar’s birthday treat to his fans

Sonakshi to feature in a peppy number for ‘Lingaa’

Team ‘Lingaa’ has done with the talkie portions and wasted no time to start the proceedings to shoot the songs. Already a couple of songs have been shot featuring Rajini & Anushka in Hyderabad, and for the first time the producers have decided to can the intro song for Rajini in abroad.

As of now, the team ‘Lingaa’ has erected a grand set to shoot Sonakshi for a peppy number and the same has been confirmed by the ‘Dabangg’ girl on her personal handle. “It’s time to sing and dance… In Tamil!! Shooting the last song for Lingaa, royal and grand.”

‘Lingaa’ is slated to release for Rajinikanth’s birthday, and the audio release is expected to happen in a few week’s time.

'Lingaa' to release big in overseas market

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Foi3iKiiacfech.jpg&hash=9de4d98fd159e1fba9a379918090e92964db4ef5)

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa is in the final stages of shoot, with a set song being picturised on Rajini and Sonakshi in Hyderabad.

The audio is expected to release in the next few weeks and the tentative release date is December 12.

The overseas distribution rights have been purchased by AP International belonging to Arun Pandian and Sanjay Wadwa. Both of them are planning for a mega release in nearly 1000 screens across the world. They are planning to release it in countries like Korea, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine where Tamil films have not released before.

If there is one star in Kollywood who has a market all over the world, then it’s Superstar. So it makes sense to widen the boundaries of Tamil cinema with a Superstar movie.

Kochadaiiyaan – being an animated movie had a mixed response at the Box Office. So all eyes are on Superstar’s Lingaa and the trade both in India and overseas are very positive about the movie.

A source close to the film’s unit has said that “Rajini sir recently completed dubbing for the film in less than 24 hours. Usually, dubbing takes a few days for most actors as it requires going over few lines in sync with the scenes. But Rajini sir finished dubbing most of his lines in one take”.

RThe postproduction of he film is on while the shooting is complete but for two songs, Rajini’s introductory song and a duet song between Rajini and Sonakshi Sinha are yet to be canned. For the duet the team reportedly plans to visit Europe which will happen probably after Deepavali.

The unit of Rajinikanth’s big budget action-social drama Lingaa, directed by KS Ravikumar has left for Hong Kong enroute to Macau, on Sunday morning. They have gone to shoot the intro song of Superstar in the film.

The intro song sung by SP Balasubramanian is a must in a Rajini film. So KS Ravikumar is trying to make it look rich and it will be picturised in Macau and Dubai and Abu Dhabi in UAE.

AR Rahman is reported to have given a very peppy tune for the song, which is sung by SPB. It is being choreographed by dance master on Rajinikanth. The unit will be back in a weeks’ time after completing the shoot. The audio of the film will be launched likely on November 9.

'Lingaa' teaser creates frenzy!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fokwrndegdbagh_small.jpg&hash=84e55c821649944cee554e81a0ec5718277a09d3)

The most anticipated teaser of the next Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lingaa’ got released amidst roaring response from his fans thereby creating media frenzy.

Lingaa brings back the proven combination of Rajinikanth-AR Rahman-KS Ravikumar after ‘Muthu’ & ’Padayappa’. The movie also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka, Santhanam, Radha Ravi and many others.

The teaser gives out glimpses of the plotline that is said to be set in the Pre-Independence era centered on a dam construction. The teaser also shuffles between the two portions in the movie with Rajinikanth being the pivot. Although there is nothing remarkable with the music of the teaser, one would hope that Rahman makes it a hat-trick of successful albums when it comes to the songs.

Rajinikanth simply oozes charisma and his trademark walk is there in the teaser too. The song sequences look grand with elaborate sets and large number of dancers.

With the audio launch just around the corner, this teaser has generated the necessary butterflies among fans who are waiting to catch their ‘Thalaivar’ back on the big screen.

‘Lingaa’ teaser review

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F09%2Flingaa-tajani.jpg&hash=e6ffe79cdcb20f7173753dcbee0ded7f6195b2a3)

The superstar is back in action after 4 long years and we are just a month and 10 days away to see the style Samrat smoking all the box office records once again. The 30 second teaser gives enough idea about what we can expect from Ravikumar – Rajinikanth. We get to see younger Rajini is making his way in front of the dam, which was built by his grandfather, Raja Lingeswaran in 1944. Then we get to see a jaw dropping fight on a moving train choreographer via CG.

The teaser shows both the Rajini for a few seconds and we get to see a frame of a Rajinikanth walking out of a Govt office with his typical swag. That frame could well be the interval block in the movie. Sonakshi Sinha & Anushka does come for a second or two and the art works for the songs are quite catchy. In short, the teaser is enough to cook the excitement for the fans of Rajinikanth all over the world. And, we get to see a clearer picture on the storyline by the end of next week with the theatrical trailer release.

Will 'Lingaa' release on December 12?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Foi3iKiiacfech.jpg&hash=9de4d98fd159e1fba9a379918090e92964db4ef5)

Superstar Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed Lingaa is scheduled to release on December 12, worldwide. Now the Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Lingaa release date may be pushed to either Christmas or Pongal.

Rumours are there that audio scheduled to be held on November 9 has been pushed to 16, as the audio dart is not ready. The entire shoot of the film is getting over tomorrow (Nov 5), with the completion of Rajini introduction song in Dubai.

Post-Production work has been going on along with a shoot. Remember KS Ravikumar has always kept to his dates in the past, and he targeting to get the film censored by November 30.

December 12 is a very good date to release the film, as it is Rajinikanth’s birthday and a big solo date. The buzz around birthday will be an added boost to ensure an even bigger opening. And if it gets pushed to Christmas, there is competition from other language movies.

Lingaa also gets a clear one week window in the international market before Aamir Khan’s PK releases. Remember Rajinikanth has the biggest share among south Indian actors in the international market.  So producer Rockline Venkatesh is trying his best to see the film releases on December 12.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year ‘Lingaa’ was wrapped up yesterday and the biggest question is, when will we get to hear the songs of ‘Lingaa’? There was a buzz that the audio launch will take place at Satyam Cinemas during this weekend, but, till now there hasn’t been any official information for the same. We tried inquiring with our sources and found out that the audio will be released a week after the proposed date, i.e on 16th, and the venue is yet to be decided.

Team ‘Lingaa’ released a 35 second teaser last Saturday and as expected the video carried the typical swag of Rajinikanth and it looked very colorful from the word go. The movie is getting ready on a brisk pace and the plans for releasing the movie for Rajinikanth’s birthday is very much on.

Eros International media Limited, after buying the audio rights of superstar Rajinikanth's Lingaa has gone ahead and has bought the worldwide rights of the most anticipated movie for a record price.

Eros has given out a press statement confirming the news. The buzz is that 150+ Crores was the amount paid by Eros for Lingaa's worldwide rights. This certainly seems to be a record for a South Indian movie. Lingaa is in post-production now and the movie is expected to release on Dec 12th.

Meanwhile, the audio release of Lingaa will happen next Sunday Nov 16th in a gala function in Chennai. Rockline Venkatesh has produced the movie. KS Ravikumar has directed it. AR Rahman has scored the music for the movie.

‘Kaththi’ affects ‘Lingaa’ story?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Foi3iKiiacfech.jpg&hash=9de4d98fd159e1fba9a379918090e92964db4ef5)

‘Kaththi’, the recently released Vijay and Samantha starrer supposedly has a similar story to Rajni’s upcoming Lingaa. Sources fear that this fact might reduce the chances of Lingaa becoming a hit film and are changing a few scenes in Lingaa now.

Rockline Venkatesh, the producer of Lingaa has strongly denied any such rumours. Kaththi was based on a foreign firm taking villagers land to infilterate water, and Lingaa runs through the same plot and so KS Ravikumar is reshooting some scenes to reduce the similarities says rumours. But, the two films have no similarities says team Lingaa. They also say that Lingaa shoot completed ages back and is now in dubbing, so all this is just rumours. Only time will tell.

Sources say that Vairamuthu and Madhankarky have written the songs for Lingaa and the question of whether Lingaa has a theme music is unanswered yet. Lingaa is an action thriller directed by KS Ravikumar and the music has been helmed by AR Rahman. Eros International is handling the distribution of the film while Rockline Venkatesh is the producer.

Now plagiarism charges against Lingaa!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Foi3iKiiacfech.jpg&hash=9de4d98fd159e1fba9a379918090e92964db4ef5)

On the day when the court dismissed plagiarism charges against Kaththi director AR Murgadoss, a case has been filed by one KR Ravi Rathinam against Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed Lingaa.

The Madras High Court Bench here on Wednesday ordered notice to DGP and  Rajinikanth, among many others, on a writ petition filed by Ravi Rathinam, an aspiring filmmaker who has accused the Lingaa team of copying his script.

Justice M. Venugopal also ordered notice, returnable by November 19, to producer ‘Rockline’ Venkatesh, Kannada script writer B. Ponkumar and director KS  Ravi Kumar. He, however, refused to pass interim orders restraining the crew from releasing the film’s music on Sunday.

The petitioner Ravi Rathinam of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board colony at Chinna Chokkikulam in Madurai alleges that Lingaa script is based on a script he had written for a movie called Mullai Vanam 999 based on the construction of the Mullaperiyar dam by John Pennycuick. He claims that he had uploaded a video relating to it on YouTube, and urged the court to take action.

‘Lingaa’ borrows a strategy from ‘Kaththi’

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F08%2Flingaa_rajini.jpg&hash=128b2b547b39552f5616c78c02a28233f48d0ec0)

For the first time ever, Rajinikanth’s intro song will feature a rap portion; Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam, a Sri Lankan rapper has lent his voice along with the ace singer, S.P.B for ‘Lingaa’. The audio launch is scheduled to take place on 16th of this month and the movie rights along with the audio has been purchased by EROS for a record sum. One could remember that even Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ had a ‘T (rap)’ portion in ‘Pakkam Vanthu’, which composed for ‘Kathiresan’ intro. Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi clarified that it is not ‘rap’, a new genre called ‘trap’ which is quietly making its wave in western countries.

The title track is said to be ‘Oh Nanba’ and the album to carry 6 songs which include a couple of duets. The OST is expected to carry a typical Rajini’ish inspirational number and the composer, A.R. Rahman has himself sung, ‘Indiane Vaa’. Kaviperarasu Vairamuthu has penned 5 songs while his son, Madhan Karky, the lyric engineer wrote ‘Mona Gasolina’.

It has become a routine in Kollywood that someone else or other to file a suit against the much expected movies’ prior to its release. The latest victim is Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’, where a case has been filed against the movie in Madurai sub High court to ban the movie.

Producer Dhanu, who had experienced similar situations in the past with his movies ‘Kandasamy’ and ‘Thuppakki’ expressed displeasure and asked the producers’ council to take immediate actions to curb this.

He adds that, it is okay to demand a ban after the movie’s release, but, filing a case for intellectual theft and for other reasons just by looking at a poster or trailer is not a healthy trend.

'Lingaa' audio rated and reviewed

Cast: Rajinikanth, Anushka Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha, Jagapati Babu, Radha Ravi, Santhanam, R Sundarrajan
Music: A. R Rahman
Cinematography: R. Rathnavelu
Lyrics: Vairamuthu, Madhan Karky
Direction: KS Ravikumar

‘Lingaa’ marks the re-union of KS Ravikumar-Rajinikanth-A. R Rahman combo for the third time after successful outings like ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padayappa’. Although a Rajini movie offers very little room for experimentation with music, there is always a buzz when the audio is round the corner. Let us see how the album has turned out:

Oh Nanba
Singers: S. P Balasubramanyam, Aaryan Dinesh Kanagarathnam
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
‘Oh Nanba’ is the quintessential SPB number which everyone would look forward to in a Rajini movie. The entire song has an arabic touch to it and is stylized like a 70’s bollywood number. Aaryan Dinesh who sung the impressive ‘Magudi’ in Kadal is underutilized here. The entire tune feels a bit rushed and one would rather have to say that the regular ARR touch is missing.

Mona Gasolina
Singers: Mano, Neeti Mohan, Tanvi Shah
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
The real show stealer! ‘Mona Gasolina’ is vintage Mano at his best with thundering vocals and grand percussion arrangements on the lines of ‘Athiradi Kaaran’ and ‘Om Zaarare Zaara’. The ‘pallavi’ when repeated in several places gives us goosebumps. The lyrics although nonsensical are very Vaali-ish. The album’s best!

En Mannava
Singers: Srinivas, Aditi Paul
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
The standard duet that would find place in a Rajini movie has arrived in the form of ‘En Mannava’ featuring vocals from Srinivas and Aditi Paul (her diction being too good). The tune is pretty simple and is catchy. The instrumentation relies more on dholak, chimes and other pleasant instruments that don’t jar Vairamuthu’s lyrics. Has scope to be visually shot well too!

Indiane Vaa
Singers: A. R Rahman
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
‘Indiane Vaa’ is a typical inspiration number which one would expect in a Rajini-Rahman combo. The gospel like chorus portions during the interludes adds depth to the song.  The scale shift during the ‘charanam’ is signature Rahman who dons the singer’s hat and pulls off the song successfully. ’Indiane Vaa’ is one of the better tracks in the album.

Unmai Orunaal Vellum
Singers: Haricharan
Lyrics: Vairamuthu
‘Unmai Orunaal Vellum’ is pretty much a lyric oriented number giving space to emotions and values. There is nothing remarkable in the tune which is shaped on the mold of yesteryear Rahman’s numbers like Vidukadhaiya, Rajyama Imayama. This track in all probabilities would appear at a crucial juncture in the movie.

On the whole, ’Lingaa’ is a highly underwhelming album from the twin Oscar winner whose recent music releases ‘I’ and ‘Kaaviya Thalaivan’ grew tremendously on the listeners and got him rave reviews. The fact that every song’s genre is almost similar to a template gives no room for experimentation. The visuals are sure to engage the audience as the presence of Rajini is an added boost. But musically, ’Lingaa’ needs some time to grow and is definitely nowhere near Rahman’s best.

Lingaa audio launched in style

The audio of superstar Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed Lingaa was launched in style at Sathyam Cinemas on Sunday (Nov 16) morning. There was a lot of fanfare, bonhomie and the highlight was a crisp speech by the superstar himself.

The programme started on dot of time at 10 am. The entire Lingaa crew of director KS Ravikumar, Rajinikanth, Anushka, Sonakshi, Santhanam, Sudeep,  Vijayakumar and technical crew of cameraman Retnavelu, production designer Sabu Cyril, writer Ponkumaran and producers Rockline Venkatesh,Munirathna and Nandu of Eros  were there on the stage.

The special guests were Vairamuthu, Jagapathy Babu, director Shankar, Ameer, Cheran and SP Muthuraman.  The notable absentee was AR Rahman, who was said to be busy with his international commitments.  The programme was anchored by actor Shiva for Jaya TV, who holds the satellite rights of the film.

The programme started with a welcome speech by KS Ravikumar followed by an AV of Rahman, where he explained each song from the film. It was followed by the trailer launch of the film. The trailer is pure mass and has all ingredients of a Rajinikanth film like action, sentiments, comedy, glamour and punch lines. Sample of punch lines – Let’s begin and See you soon. Two song teasers were also played at the audio launch.

Later there were emotional speeches from director Ameer, Cheran and Vairamuthu urging the superstar to come to politics. Rajinikanth concluded the event with a short and crisp speech, explaining on why he acted in Lingaa. He says there were some health issues which created a doubt in his mind on weather he could act, dance or fight the way he did like old days. It was then that he came across Lingaa story through KS Ravikumar and Rockline Venkatesh his old buddy was willing to fund it without blinking an eyelid.

And he chose KS Ravikumar for his speed in executing any project along with world class technicians. There were lot of hiccups during the shoot of the film due to unseasonal rain, still KSR completed the film under 100 days. Rajinikanth remarked : “The Lingaa unit took care of me like a baby, and I was given sufficient time to rest during the shoot and everything worked out well.” Finally the Lingaa audio was released.

Shankar added “The visuals of Lingaa have reminded me the Rajinikanth whom we all saw in Sivaji and I should seriously learn about how to quickly complete a film from KS Ravikumar”.

Produced by Rockline Venkatesh, Lingaa has Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka, Santhanam and many others to its star cast. Lingaa is slated for December 12 release.

'Mona Gasolina' in 'Lingaa' is an instant hit

Yesterday, the makers of Lingaa have released the video teaser of Mona Gasolina...from Lingaa which went on to become a viral in social networking sites.  Sources say that the number is a concept based song where Rajini will appear in three different get-ups namely, Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Robin Hood and a hacker.

The video teaser of Mona Gasolina... has already clocked in more than one lakh views within 24 hours. Music listeners say that the high pitch vocals of Mano, along with the trendy singing of Tanvi Shah and Neeti Mohan together made it as a chartbuster.

Madhan Karky who has written the lyrics tweeted “Mona Gasolina... is a song about how a girl steals the heart of a thief told with three short stories: Pirate, Robin Hood and hacker “.

Karky is already known for penning concept based songs like Asku Laska.. which conveys the romance between a Doctor and an Engineer,  Irumbiley..  which conveys the Robo’s point of view on love and its romantic experience,  also the Antarctica.. number in Thuppakki where he wrote the song based on how an army officer would express his love .

It is worth mentioning that Vikram has already sported different get-ups for a song in Rajapattai and Rajini himself has the penchant for sporting different makeovers in his films, especially the trendy makeovers in the ‘Style’ song in Sivaji was quite popular among his fans.

Who saved Rajini’s life in a tragic accident

One of the most ambitious project of the year is hardly a month from its release. Music album of the movie, composed by AR Rahman, was launched yesterday at a grand event. The programme was filled with moments to take snippets from. And one such was the pregnant pause in KS Ravikumar’s speech, followed by his silent tears.

They say it takes a lot to make others smile; but it takes a lot more to have someone cry for you. Jawahar drove the entire ‘Lingaa’ team emotional with his real life stunt. “We were to shoot a scene along a train, in the rain, where Rajini would walk. We had everything ready – a train artificial rain setting and a Jimmy jib to capture it all” Ravikumar begins to narrate what happened. “Just as we started rolling, the skies rolled and it really started pouring. This cuts a few electrical lines in the shooting set. Not having noticed that, and not turning an ear to the commotion on the other side, I simply urged to get the shot done with. But what had actually happened is that Jawahar, who was handling the Jimmy got electrocuted and thrown away to a distance. Rajini did not notice the cut wires too. As the conductive crane approached Rajini, Jawahar did not think twice about his condition or putting his life at stake to electricity again. He jumped up and leaped forward to remove the crane from the way, with his bare hands. Jawahar did not let the fear of shock affect his mind.” Saying this, Ravikumar was moved to tears, reminiscing Jawahar’s heroism. After a pause, the director proceeded to thank Jawahar and the rest of the team.

Santhanam: I was worried about what to talk, if others speak everything ahead of me. Well, more than an actor, Superstar is my spiritual guru. Only he can finish a massive movie like ‘Lingaa’ in such a short time and I thank all the people who suggested my name to be a part of this magnum opus.

Vijayakumar: Rajini & I share 3+ decades of memories and friendship. ‘Lingaa’ is a special movie, which talks about unity, water scarcity, and patriotism.

Vairamuthu: No one can guess Rajini’s mind and I can proudly say that, I’m the one who travelled with Rajini all these years like Vaali and Kanndasan for M.G.R. No one can force him to test the waters in politics.

K.S. Ravikumar: Let me conclude ‘vote of thanks’ now itself, because, I know, no one will be around once Rajini completes his speech. It was a conscious decision about not to open up about the movie before it completes and I’m sorry for not accepting calls from the media people. I’m all done with the movie and we can talk now.

Rajinikanth: I was worried whether I can be as active as I used to be post my illness and thank god; here I’m standing in front of you with glorious energy levels. There’s been so much speculation about my entry into politics and I know that my fans are not going to accept my regular answer by raising my fingers to the almighty as an answer. I’m not sure about entering into politics as of now, but, I will definitely serve the people of TN, who has given everything to me.

Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ is already breaking every possible record in the industry even before 4 weeks of its release. Arun Panidan, who bagged the distribution rights for the movie in U.S.A has announced that the movie will be released in more than 200 screens, which will be a brand new record for a Tamil movie.

Meanwhile, EROS International is said to have bought the movie for 165 crores and they are pretty happy with the trade so far, as the satellite rights and dubbing rights for the movie is all set to make more than 200 crores.

If the above numbers are true, then, what were we discussing about 100 crore club a few weeks ago? Rajinikanth is all set to claim the numero uno position

KSR denies ‘Lingaa’ story theft

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F09%2Frajini_ravikumar.jpg&hash=cc4767b7b8fbf48abf6b6d9c6e63a54b7ea2faf0)

KS Ravikumar filed a defense case at the High Court last Tuesday. The case was that KSR stole the Mullaivanam 999 story which belongs to KR Raviratnam who is a serial director in a channel in Madurai. He filed a case saying Lingaa is his story and should therefore be banned from release.

And to this, the Lingaa director, said, “Just because Lingaa has the Mullai Periyaar issue in it doesn’t mean it belongs to him. How can someone assume the story of the film with just a trailer? I deny the theft. The person who wrote Lingaa registered the story in December 2010 itself. Nobody can own history and stories that come with it.”

I believe ‘Lingaa’ will give me a glittering entry to the South Indian cinema.” – Says Sonakshi.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has reserved its order on a writ petition that sought a stay on the release of Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. One KR Ravi Rathinam had filed a petition that the storyline of Lingaa was same as that of his movie Mulla Vanam 999.

The petitioner said he had uploaded the entire story of his film on the video sharing website You Tube on February 24, 2013. The story inspired by the construction of Mullaperiyar dam , revolved around the hero building a dam  and mooting interlinking of rivers. The ‘pooja’ of the film was held at AVM Studio in Chennai. Later he came to know that KS Ravikumar is making a movie with a similar background.

Denying the claim of the petitioner, Lingaa director KS Ravikumar and screenplay writer S Ponkumaran argued that the petitioner had not published his story or even shot the film so far.  In fact the petitioner had not produced any document to substantiate his claims.

After hearing all sides, Justice M Venugopal, reserved orders in the case

Soundarya Rajinikanth toiled hard for 3 long years with ‘Sultan’ and ‘Kochadaiyaan’ and made all possible efforts to get the movie out for Rajini’s birthday last year. But due to loads of glitches in the post production works, ‘Kochadaiyaan’ made its way to the cinema halls after 5 months of its original schedule.

Now, ‘Lingaa’ which was started just right after the release of ‘Kochadaiyaan’ is all set to storm the theatres across the world on Superstar’s birthday. History says that none of the Rajini’s movies in the past were released for Superstar’s birthday and that’s makes ‘Lingaa’ a super special one for the fans of Rajinikanth.

A few reports in the afternoon, said that Lyca productions have acquired the rights of Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ and we called up T.Siva, the CEO of Vendhar movies to get a clear picture on this issue. We all are aware of what kind of issues ‘Kaththi’ had gone through with prior to its release and we wanted to present the actual picture in this case.

Vendor movies have clarified that they are going to release the movie all over TN except in Coimbatore. Sukra movies will be releasing the movie in Coimbatore and they do not have any kind of connection with Lyca productions and dismissed the news as mere rumors.

Await a long treat from Superstar

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F10%2Flinga_rajini_santhanam.jpg&hash=53e60df120a8b84203d9cb03db3b3ab401b915b4)

The entire cine fraternity and crores of fans are gearing up to watch ‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Lingaa’ that will be releasing on his 65th birthday on December 12, 2015. The makers have kept up the promise of bringing out the magnum opus as Superstar’s birthday treat to his fans, thanks to the proper planning and perfect execution of its director K.S.Ravikumar.

Now it has been come to light that the film, which has been certified with a clean ‘U’ certificate will be running close to three hours. The exact running time of this Rockline Venkatesh production venture will be 175 minutes and 42 seconds.

Though this is the era of films with a shorter running time, Rajini films which guarantee wholesome entertainment can be exceptions to such trends. It is to be noted that, ‘Padayappa’ the earlier Rajini-Ravi outing that released in 1999 was the lengthy film that ran for almost three hours. The film created new box office records back then and ran for 275 days in theatres.

Moreover ‘Lingaa’ will be a double treat for fans since ‘Thalaivar’ will be appearing in dual roles and one of them belonging to the pre independence era. Also Bollywood lass Sonakshi Sinha makes her debut in Tamil with this film as Rajini’s pair and tall beauty Anushka has been paired up with another Rajini. The film’s star cast includes Santhanam, Karuna, Radharavi, Jayaprakash and many others. Music rendered by Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman  and cinematography by Rathnavely are additional attractions for the film.

Madurai HC dismissed the plagiarism charges against 'Lingaa'

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fol0mEwdifeiie_small.jpg&hash=57e8e98e7eca792801fd5e14f3e6374e397722b0)

Huge relief for Lingaa team! A producer named Ravi Rathinam had filed a petition at the High Court branch in Madurai stating that Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa is based on his film Mullai Vanam 999 which deals with Mullai Periyar dam and the issues surrounding it.

Now the latest information is that Madurai High Court branch has dismissed the case because of lack of evidence from petitioner side. This verdict from the Justice comes as a huge relief for team Lingaa and now the business in Tamil Nadu will kick start without any hindrance.

Directed by KS Ravikumar, Lingaa has ensemble of star cast including Anushka, Sonakshi Sinha, Santhanam, Karunakaran, Dev Gill, Radha Ravi and Jagapathi Babu.

Lingaa is slated for a grand December 12 release.

‘Lingaa’ secrets revealed

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftamilbase.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F11%2Frajani-linga.jpg&hash=38bf51cd55f4cb436c105ba30464d9224abc8106)

National Award winning art director Sabu Cyril, who is the production designer of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’, has revealed some interesting details on the making of the movie. “We constructed a huge dam like set in a record time for ‘Lingaa’. We also built a full-fledged railway station and a train of British era,” he says.

Sabu and his team also created a palace for some important scenes. And for the ‘Mona Gasolina…’ song, which is already making waves, the production designer had to come up with a ship.

Countdown starts for 'Lingaa' release

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fol0mEwdifeiie_small.jpg&hash=57e8e98e7eca792801fd5e14f3e6374e397722b0)

The countdown has started a week before the release of Superstar Rajinikanth's Lingaa. It is all set for a grand release on his birthday – December 12. The film has already been censored with a U certificate and is now in the final release stage.

Lingaa is likely to release in nearly 3500 screens in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi across the globe. It will be one of the biggest ever release for an Indian film.

Meanwhile one more person has filed a plagiarism case against Lingaa in a City Civil Court in Chennai. A person named Sakthivel has now filed a case against Lingaa saying the film's story is a copy of his story titled Uyir Anai.

It looks like filing plagiarism charges against films ready for a release is a new trend. It amounts to harassing the producer and others. The industry should come forward to tackle this menace on the eve of release of a film.

‘Lingaa’, Rajini, Amaran

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fol0mEwdifeiie_small.jpg&hash=57e8e98e7eca792801fd5e14f3e6374e397722b0)

Since Sabu Cyril was elevated as production designer in Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Lingaa’, he handpicked his former student Amaran as the film’s art director. Amaran, who worked for six movies with Mysskin, has done a great job in ‘Lingaa’ and won the appreciation of K S Ravikumar, Sabu Cyril, and of course, Rajini.

“We erected a dam, we built a railway station and we erected two grand sets for ‘Va Mannava…’ and ‘Mona Gasolina…’ songs. All this was done in record time,” Amaran says.

Rajini will not go to Himalayas anymore: K.S. Ravi Kumar

In a recent interview to a popular weekly, K.S. Ravi Kumar has opened up about his experience with Superstar and quoted that Rajinikanth will not go to Himalayas anymore and even if he do so, it will be purely for personal pleasure as a traveler and not in the mood to become a saint.

He adds that, after ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padayappa’, I planned two movies with Rajni and both of them  (Jaggubhai & Rana) did not take off for many reasons. In spite of a couple of setbacks, Rajini was kind enough to partner with me for the third time and my personal relationship with the superstar helped me completing ‘Lingaa’ in just 6 months.

‘Lingaa’ is all set to release next Friday across the state in more than 600 screens.

Just a couple of days ago, Madurai High Court dismissed the intellectual theft case filed by Ravi Ratnam, who directed the movie ‘Mullai Vanam 999’ against ‘Lingaa’. And, the moment team ‘Lingaa’ thought that they are off from every hurdle, they got one more today. Sakthivel, director of ‘Uyir Anai’ filed a case against K.S. Ravi Kumar and Venkatesh, and the court has issued noticed to the director and producer.

The case will be on, on Monday only, given the fact that the next two days are weekends. This case might release affect the release of ‘Lingaa’ as planned. Watch this tab for more.

Superstar’s ‘Lingaa’ to get a strong release

With just a week to go, Lingaa sure is the talk of the town. Superstar’s movie has always garnered the interests of many, and this time the makers have ensured that it reaches out to the maximum. The film is slated to be released in over 3000 screens around the world, that’s a staggering number indeed!

The rights for TN and Kerala have been grabbed by Vendhar movies who will be releasing in around 1000 screens across this region except the Coimbatore center. There were reports earlier that the makers were having a hard time to release it in Kerala as the distributors wanted the producers to settle and make up for the loses of previous Rajinikant movie “Kochadaiyaan”. Vendhar movies have confirmed that all the issues have been resolved and the film will hit the screens as expected.

Directed by KS Ravi Kumar, the film also features Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead with AR Rahman composing music.

Legal battle continues for ‘Lingaa’

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fomhmavefaajjd.jpg&hash=e874a9682f673e0298918d33425c9f7748dafca7)

The entire film fraternity and Tamil movie buffs spread across the globe are getting ready for a Superstar feast with ‘Lingaa’ scheduled to release on the forthcoming Friday, December 12, which is also the 65th birthday of its lead actor Rajinikanth. However the legal battle that the makers are facing are far from over.

A couple of days back a single Judge bench has disposed the petition of Raviratnam who claimed that the script of the film directed by K.S.Ravikumar has been copied from ‘Mullaivanam’ which is a film he made and uploaded in internet. However Raviratnam has made an appeal in the Madras High Court citing the contradiction in the reply filed by Rajinikanth and Ravikumar for his petition. While Rajini had said the story and screenplay of the film has been written by Pon Kumaran Ravikumar has said that Pon Kumaran has written the story while he (Ravikumar) has written the Screenplay for the Rockline Venkatesh Production venture. Raviratnam has stated in his appeal that the Judge has failed to note this contradiction which is well enough to launch an inquiry against those involved with ‘Lingaa’. The appeal is going to be heard by the High Court bench on Monday, the 8th of December,.

Meanwhile another person named Sakthivel has filed a case against ‘Lingaa’ claiming that the film might have been inspired by ‘Uyir Anai’ which is the story he had written in 2011 about John Penny Quick, the British Officer responsible for the construction of the Mullair Periyar Dam and wanted to launch an inquiry. The petition comes for hearing in a city civil Court on Tuesday, the 9th of December.

There are three surprises in 'Lingaa', says Rajinikanth

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FomjiIWfchabeh.jpg&hash=1f1c3bc8b2cb04c2bcd7f93d5c0ae2fa35860c85)

Rajinikanth was super cheered up at the promotional event of Lingaa which happened at Hyderabad.  Superstar started his speech by an apologizing message for not attending the ‘Memu Saitham’ fund raising event for helping out hud-hud cyclone victims.  He said that he was busy with a family wedding and hence couldn't make it.

Rajini said “As soon as I reach Chennai, will contribute the best I can”.

The complete speech of Rajinikanth was fun-filled that he made everyone laugh. Rajini said “There are three surprises in Lingaa” and we have listed them as follows…

First surprise:
These days completing a big-budget film within six months is a herculean task but hats off to director KS Ravikumar for pulling off in style.  When I say big budget film, it doesn't mean that the film involves top technicians and artists.  Lingaa’s subject and backdrop is really big, the film is set in pre-independence era. There is a train fight and there are scenes involving elephants, horses then there is a huge dam set erected for the film.

Rajini added “Out of 70 scenes, 40 scenes will have thousands of junior artists and I should also thank producer Rockline Venkatesh for it. We artists just come for the shoot, finish our work and leave but these technicians who took the task of completing the film within six months and worked hard for it have to be lauded”.

Second Surprise:
Rajini sarcastically pointed out that there are four people who are claiming that Lingaa story is written by them. Rajini said “Yes the film is having a good story but it actually belongs to Ponkumaran and not to those four people”.

Rajini also mentioned a Twitter comment which said “Do Rajini’s films have story? As many people claiming that they have written the story for the film, I would like to see this Rajini film which is having a story in it”.

Though many say that Rajini is not active in Twitter, his speech at yesterday’s event clearly shows that he is closely following the Twitter happenings.

Third Surprise:
The third surprise in Rajini’s speech brought glee on everyone’s face. Rajini said “I have struggled a lot for Lingaa, I’m not talking about those train fights or climax fights but dancing with these heroines at this age is seriously a tedious task”.

Rajini jovially added “I knew Sonakshi Sinha from childhood and she grew up along with my daughters Soundarya and Aishwarya. The fact is that even during my first shot in Aboorva Ragangal there was no pressure but when they said I’m having a duet with Sonakshi, I really literally sweated. If God wants to punish someone he should make a 60 years old hero to perform a duet with young heroines”.

Rajinikanth also pulled cinematographer Rathnavelu’s leg by saying “Randy was so outspoken during his speech at the Lingaa audio launch. Randy said that he has struggled a lot to show me young and beautiful in Lingaa . Well, I do accept with the first part. Showing me young is okay (possible) but beautiful? (Laughs louder)

'Lingaa' all decks cleared for a big release!

Superstar Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed Lingaa is all set for a worldwide release on December 12. The film is releasing only in Tamil and Telugu, the Hindi version release has been postponed.

Today (Dec 9), the Madras High Court refused to grant stay on the release of Lingaa on a petition filed by Balaji Studio Karthika. Earlier Rajinikanth had filed a caveat application on Monday in the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai, anticipating the filing of a writ appeal in a case preferred by an aspiring filmmaker alleging theft of his script for making the actor’s much awaited movie Lingaa. The caveat was filed to prevent passing of any kind of interim order without hearing his stand.

Now it looks like all legal issues has been sorted out and Lingaa will release on December 12. The final copy of the film and technical corrections on the print is over. Linga cinematographer R Rathnavelu Tweeted: “Nonstop work!! Sleepless nights are over, just handed over Lingaa overseas release prints, thanx 2 my team.”

A lot of office goers has applied for leave on December 12, to watch Lingaa first day first show. Photographs of Lingaa tickets have been appearing online and bulk booking have started in theatres in suburban Chennai. AGS Cinemas have started bulk booking in their multiplexes on OMR and Villivakkam.

Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai will start their online booking from tonight. Vendhar Movies are directly releasing the film in Chennai city. The trade is expecting a huge opening for the film and it is sure to take a fantastic opening.

10 ways to get your 'Thalaivar' fix on!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fomjqjdbhbjieb_small.jpg&hash=e9f39d1cf22cca65df20f63e556609faeb9e8a28)

With 'Lingaa' releasing just days away, there's bound to be a whole bunch of Superstar fans who were unable to bag those prized first-day-first-show tickets. So this is for those who'll go into instant withrdrawl for having not watched the latest Rajini padam on Friday.

And this is how you do it:

1
Kick-start your day with an intro song, Rajini style. We suggest you start with the mother of all intros, Pothuvaga Enn Manasu Thangam. Nothing like a 'gethu' track for that morning feel-good swagger as you hop out of bed.

2
Keep that good energy flowing with 'Baba'. Spring that mudra and lend a helping hand to those in need of one. Be that good samaritan sans the beedi and the paan parag. Kinda defeats the purpose if you purport to do good while reeking of cheap smoke and sporting stained teeth.

3
Spend some quality time with your mother. For after all, there's no higher calling than to serve one's mom.

4
Why not help her out in the kitchen? Channel all the earnestness of Rajini's attempts in Pandian, with hopefully none of that disastrous lack of instinct.

5
Well, it's a weekday and there's no avoiding work. Rajini didn't.

6
The clock's struck 5 and it's time to step out for a rockin' evening. And you've got to set the tone right by dropping a 'idhu yeppadi irukku' in front of the mirror before you head out into the sunset.

7
But not before you get yourself a wingman, your brother from another mother, the 'Deva' to your 'Surya'.

8
It's time to get the groove on and what better way than with a dance off!

9
As you wind down for the night, make sure you end on a high and not on a soppy note moping about the guy who jumped you to the ticket counter.

10
Keep the faith because good things come to those who wait.

Legendary director K. Viswanath has blessed the Superstar Rajinikanth in the curtain raiser event for ‘Lingaa’ and said that his long time wish to act along with Rajinikanth and K. Balachander has come true in this year.

” I used to have two wishes in my life. One is working as an assistant for K. Balachander and Bapu for at least one week and the other is acting with Rajinikanth. Both of them have been fulfilled, this year. I acted in ‘Uttama Villain’ along with K. Balachander and I acted with Rajinikanth in ‘Lingaa’. Youngsters should learn a lot from Rajinikanth. Super Star Rajinikanth, who has attended the audio success meet of ‘Lingaa’ yesterday, said that he felt very tensed when dancing with Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha in duets. “I had worked very hard for this film. I am not talking about the train fight or the other action sequences in the movie. I am talking about how I felt when dancing for duets with Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka. I’ve never felt so tensed even when working for the first scene of my first film. I know Sonakshi Sinha right from when she was a child. When dancing along with her, I felt very nervous. If God has to punish an actor, he makes him dance for duets in sixties”, Rajinikanth said.

Rajinikanth's son-in-law and actor Dhanush  has tweeted that he has given his leave letter to Balaji Mohan, with whom he is shooting currently, so that he can watch Lingaa on Friday.

Unlike Kochadaiiyaan, Dhanush is promoting Lingaa aggresively on his Twitter page.

Dhanush tweeted “LINGA day after tom !!!! Reservations from today :) I have given my leave letter to balaji Mohan ;)”.

Balaji Mohan who is directing Dhanush’s Maari is also a Superstar Rajinikanth fan and the director replied back by tweeting “@dhanushkraja #LingaaLeaveLetter received sir :) could u also send me a #LingaaFDFS ticket ;)”.

It is worth a mention that Lingaa is also the name of Dhanush’s younger son.

‘Lingaa’ creates records in France

It is ‘Lingaa Fever’ everywhere. With fans queuing up for tickets here in Chennai and online reservations literally freezing websites with heavy activity, one can easily conclude that Rajinikanth’s reign is still supreme over the Box Office.

Time and again the Superstar has proven his dominance in the Tamil film industry with his screen presence and fiery charisma. Similarly, it is no wonder he has a massive fan following spread all over the world.

Adhering to the huge fanbase, Etienne DUBAILLE’s Night ED Films in France have allotted 44 screens for Lingaa. This makes it a record for any Tamil movie so far in French screens. With the release nearing in only less than two days, fans will surely be in rushing in to get hold of their tickets for a feast awaiting them on ‘Lingaa Day’ – 12-12-14

Lingaa starring Rajinikanth is directed by K. S. Ravikumar also has Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty playing the female leads with A. R. Rahman scoring the music.

Madurai HC orders 'Lingaa' producer to deposit 10 crs as guarantee

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FomkssVdgfjjhg_small.jpg&hash=8a8e787b46a5306fadd04137bf95b65255f10212)

The Madurai branch of Madras High Court has ordered Lingaa producer Rockline Venkatesh to deposit Rs 10crs before 12 pm tomorrow if the film has to release.

A producer called Ravirathnam has appealed once again against team Lingaa that the story of the film is based on his film Mullaivanam 999.

After hearing the plea, the Justice ordered the producer of Lingaa should deposit in the court Rs 5 Cr as deposit and Rs 5 Cr as guarantee and only after that he will be allowed to release the film.

This interim order comes as a shocker for many distributors and theater owners but Rockline Venkatesh who is producing Lingaa has said that he will abide by the court’s order and Lingaa will be released as planned.

KS Ravikumar speaks on 'Lingaa' & Rajinikanth

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fomlxuthdbeafg_small.jpg&hash=b94db1596c4a78360c4d8d97409a78ac0ea445f1)

Rajinikanth and director KS Ravikumar go a long way back. Lingaa is their third project together after Muthu and the sensational Padayappa. In between two of their films got shelved –Jaggubhai and Rana. In an exclusive interview KSR as he is known in the industry opens up on the eve of the release of Lingaa.

Lingaa is facing plagiarism charges. Please comment.
It has become fashionable in the industry to make charges of plagiarism against big films just before release. In case of Lingaa too some people have made some wild accusations that we copied. Let the film release and then you decide. Some people told me that Dhoom 3 is a copy of my Ajith starrer Villain, but when I saw the film I realised the plot is similar but not even one scene is the same. Only if screenplay is copied exactly can I say it is plagiarised.

Tell us about Lingaa story?
Pon Kumaran has written the story and the basic thread is life and times of John Pennycuick who built the Mullaperiyar dam.  However it is not a bio pic or something like that. Lingaa is a pucca commercial entertainer catering to Rajinikanth’s mass fan base.

How did Lingaa happen ?
Rajinikanth and I share a nice bond. He is the complete professional and a joy to work with. We were in discussion for a long time. And this March he wanted to do a quickie, his first live-action film after Enthiran. The only condition he had was that the film should release for Diwali. But I did not have a script ready. Once I started working on it, the script fell into place.

How do you work on your scripts?
If I work with a star like Rajinikanth, I always keep his image in mind while writing the final script. I feel in commercial cinema the star’s image is the most important factor that drives the expectation around the film. I’am a common man’s director and not a Bharathiraja or a K Balachandar . I try to make films that will work with the mass audiences. Normally in my films story will be woven around the hero’s star image.

Did Rajinikanth watch the film and what did he say ?
Rajinikanth saw the final copy of the film two days before release at Media Artist preview theatre. After seeing the film he came and hugged me and thanked me for making Lingaa. Now it up to  audiences, I’m confident it will work with mass audiences.

Lingaa Movie Review

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fim.sify.com%2Fsifycmsimg%2Fdec2014%2FEntertainment%2F15058733_review_1_330x234dec12.jpg&hash=e813f8d3547b809fcd70643f617eb1ef687e31f4)

Director: KS Ravikumar
Cast: Rajinikanth, Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Shetty, Santhanam, Jagapati Babu

Rajinikanth’s KS Ravikumar directed much hyped Lingaa was completed in record time but has arrived almost twenty years too late. It is a predictable old-fashioned entertainer that's a throwback to those mid-80’s mass masala films, and it’s hard to tell if there's anything original to this story at all.

Lingaa is a mixed bag. The star charisma of Rajinikanth is intact but the film is long with a weak storyline that flounders with a long drawn out climax. Rajini films are always well packaged and have powerful supporting cast, most importantly a deadly villain and a story with a foundation.

Lingaa follows the same tried and tested formula of KS Ravikumar with a typical Rajinikanth template. A comic first half leading to an emotionally charged flashback and a long drawn out climax. There are two Rajinikanth’s- Raja Lingeswaran a King who constructed a dam for his people against the machinations of the British and Lingaa his grandson a petty thief who does the unfinished job of his grandfather.

The vintage Rajinikanth is back with his style and dialogue delivery intact. The film is a treat for his die-hard fans who have not seen him in a live action for nearly four years. Among the two heroines Anushka has a better role while Sonakshi is wasted. The villains Jagapathy Babu and some unknown foreigners are the film’s biggest drawback. They do not match up to the hero in a single scene, which makes it lacklustre.

The music of AR Rahman is a big let down. Not even one hummable number and picturisation is very similar to earlier Rajinikanth films. Technically, Lingaa is just average except for the grand visuals of cameraman Rathnavelu, who has done a neat job. The VFX in the climax are tacky and clearly indicates that things were done in a jiffy.

The screenplay of Lingaa skittles from cliché to cliché, packing in every stereotype you can think of. What saves this film from complete disappointment is Rajinikanth the larger-than-life superstar. On the whole, Lingaa is a well-worn, formulaic fare that might appeal to viewers who find comfort in the familiar, and who are still excited by the age-old hackneyed stories about a mass hero turning savior to a village. If it's not entirely unwatchable, you have Rajinikanth to thank!

'Lingaa' worse than 'Baba'? Fans share their thoughts

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FommqzNdhhhgbb_medium.jpg&hash=3effc38106d54c281573927cf75defe35a5f000f)

The highly anticipated film of 2014 is out. Supestar's Lingaa has everything going for it. A fortuitous release date on his birthday, direction by KS Ravikumar, a soundtrack by AR Rahman and two stunning heroines. Unanimously, fans love Rajini's screen presence. But the same doesn't got for the film.

Was it all hype for nothing? Well, that's what a few Rajini fans told post the first-day first show. In fact, some feel it rivals Baba in levels of disappointment. Here are their thoughts on the film:

A S Kumar: As a Rajini fan, the movie has appeal. But as a movie lover, the movie disappoints. It is a drag, the story is explained in detail and that gets boring too often.

A director who works with Rajini best is Shankar and not KS Ravikumar. The movie has too many loopholes and many an instance which is unbelievable. The fans are clearly taken for granted by KS Ravikumar.

Lingaa is a movie, a celebration on Rajini's birthday, a one time-watch. The movie will not be a failure like Baba. KS Ravikumar is a great disappointment and he is under-utilised.

It is hard to believe AR Rahman is the music director, even his third level assistant would be able to churn out the music in Lingaa. Songs are what keeps the movie alive even after it leaves the theatre, but Lingaa songs are a complete disappointment.

Even the dialogues seem forced. Anushka has done a better job than Sonakshi. Sonakshi fails in establishing a connect with the audience. Santhanam is also wasted. The movie would have been a brave attempt had it been a play in college culturals, but as a movie it is a failure. And the blame lies solely on KS Ravikumar.

Bharat Kumar: For a rajini fan it is a must watch, a one-time watch. The script is a let down. AR Rahman is a let down. KS Ravikumar is also a huge let down.

Rajini is there in every frame. It could have been presented better. It was a huge disappointment.

Concept was good but script could have been better. Flashback was done well. Rajini's charisma, style, costume and dance are the plus points. But he was better in Padayappa. Here, the flavour is missing.

Aamithh Ram: Movie was mass entertainment. Excellent screenplay. Awesome fight. Complete Rajinimania. The climax fight is not needed.

Rating: 4 on 5

Shivaram PK: With the Superstar's birthday and LINGAA releasing even the Rain god's were waiting to catch a glimpse of Thalaivar!! Yes Rajinikanth as Lingeshwaran for sure is to take you by storm and leave you in a state of frenzy. The grand opener starts off at the Ferrari World and what's more, Rajini looks dashing as ever.

First few minutes of the movie has a certain lag which could possibly dampen your spirit. However, Rajinikanth compensates for the loss in momentum with his trademark dialogue delivery and ever mesmerizing style quotient.

First half of the movie breezes past with the music portion in shambles right from the word GO.

Second half with full focus on Lingeshwaran you get the privilege of the Marana mass dialogues. Yes, and I mean it!! This man has the uncanny knack or should I say the gift of dialogue delivery which is phenomenal.

With a roller coaster ride in the story line Lingeshwaran emerges a man of the masses and leaves behind a very apt tag line for one and all 'Got to leave a mark of life lived and valued for/by the rest.'

Heroines Anushka and Sonakshi Sinha have done a decent enough job with the limited scope. ARR a very big let down with the background score that leaves a fanatic like me fuming.

KS Ravikumar had to bundle too many things and deliver, which has not probably clicked. However, with the Superstar in the lead who cares!! Lingaa - Thalaivar all the way!!'

'Lingaa' opens big worldwide

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fommrxxidbfich_small.jpg&hash=ff45e638aaf869800b54de59cd3e1bd4c0c41279)

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa has opened big worldwide, though the film carries mixed report. The film took almost a 95% opening in Chennai city and suburbs, where it started with early past mid-night shows as early as 1am and 4 am. At the TN box-office the film has taken a flying opening.

The tickets for the early morning shows were priced at three to five times the market rate, but still went houseful. Early reports from Rentrak, Hollywood’s tracking agency, revealed that Lingaa had beaten popular franchise Hunger Games 2 at the US box office by grossing $206850 from just 91 screens compared to the $190000 the Jennifer Lawrence film collected from 1583 screens.

It took a monstrous opening at USA. According to the distributors in US, the film grossed $404,556 for its Thursday premiere and broke many top hero  films’ all time box office collections.

The premiere collections alone made Lingaa in the all time top seven films with respect to box office figures. Now all eyes are on the weekend report to know if it will break Rajinikanth’s earlier records in US. Remember, Rajinikanth’s Endhiran and Sivaji are the top two highest grosser in US.

'Lingaa' trimmed by nine minutes

Despite mixed word of mouth, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa collected a whopping 32 crs (approx) nett in Tamil Nadu alone. Now the makers have decided to trim the film by nine minutes so that the film will be racier than the original cut.

Sources say that from today, Lingaa’s trimmed version will be shown in theaters and some of the key theater owners in Tamil Nadu have confirmed it.

Sources from theater owners also say that many Rajini fans have asked them to trim down the climax for the poor VFX and over the top action sequence.

Lingaa has Rajinkanth, Anushka, Sonakashi Sinha and many to its star cast.

Real Figures of ‘Lingaa’ Profit

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FommqzUdiejfii_medium.jpg&hash=d906bd361a90d2f7bd337651281bf969753da757)

Superstar celebrated turning 64 with the release and phenomenal success of his 174th film, ‘Lingaa’. The first weekend for any big release is a golden goose. In that regard, there have been numbers floating on the cyber that point to a century crore bucks for the legendary period-set flick that was released on the eve of Thalaivar’s birthday. But as it does seem quite obvious, 100 crore rupees is a rather far fetched dream. But it is certain that the film has grossed close to 60% of that figure! Here we have the actuals of the collection.

Highest contributor to this whooping sum is undoubtedly the state of Tamil Nadu, standing proudly at 30 crores for ‘Lingaa'; Chennai city alone contributed 2.7 crores. Singapore, Malaysia, Middle East countries and the United Kingdom,  together have given the film a collection of roughly about 10 crores. USA fans have sky rocketed collections for ‘Lingaa’ at 11 crores, standing the second highest contributing conglomerate, after the collection of screens in Chennai. The rest is accounted by Kerala, Andhra, Telangana and North Indian fans. Pinning hopes on the dream figure of 100 crores, we can confidently say that ‘Lingaa’ is fast progressing towards the fancy of the record collection of highest sum of money for any movie!

Rajinikanth Mania helps ‘Lingaa’ The Movie cross 100 Crore Club in 3 days!

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FommqzUdiejfii_medium.jpg&hash=d906bd361a90d2f7bd337651281bf969753da757)

The Rajnikanth mania associated with a Rajinikanth movie has been yet again proved with LINGAA breaking all box office records and becoming the fastest Tamil film to join the 100 crore club! The movie according to trade pundits has collected a colossal Rs 102 crore rupees in its first weekend.

Though the movie has not gone down well with few hardcore film critics yet movie buffs have given their thumps up and declared the movie super hit.

The typical Rajinikanth Mania was seen to be believed at the premier of LINGAA which was held at several theatres at 1 a.m. on Friday. Film fanatic had thronged the theatres even before Thursday midnight to watch the premiere. The theatre management had hard time controlling the crowd. There was furor and turmoil all around with chanting of ‘Happy Birthday Rajinikanth’ echoing all around!

On its first day (Friday) itself, the movie managed to gross Rs 32 crore becoming the first Kollywood movie to do so. Interestingly LINGAA also collected Rs 33 crores worldwide on its first day, making it First Tamil movie to have biggest-ever first day collection.

Elated at the heartening response from audience Nandu Ahuja, Theatrical Head, Eros International, said, “There is just one word to describe reactions post the film’s release – Unbelievable! We have got fantastic showcasing for the film pan India and overseas with some theatres running as many as 72 SHOWS DAILY!

The Rajinikanth mania associated with the superstar reached places outside the South states as well. According to reports from certain screens at PVR where shows were booked well in advance and are still running into packed houses.

In Mumbai too, renowned Aurora theater in Matunga witnessed people thronging the cinema hall in huge numbers right through the weekend

K.S.Ravikumar asks the fans to get out of cinema halls before the climax

One unanimous negative point that everyone quoted who watched the ‘Lingaa’ was the climax fight and made fun of it in the social network. In a recent interview, K.S. Ravikumar says that the movie is over before the gravity defying stunt and he asks the people to step out the cinema hall if they don’t want to watch it.

He adds that the fight was placed only to suit Rajni’s mass appeal and he had witnessed children are enjoying the same fight sequence which went under the knife of critics. It is worth mentioning that the ‘Lingaa’ movie got trimmed about 9 mins owing to the negative remarks by the media and the general public.

Lingaa was sold to distributors at exorbitant prices and now we hear that the buyers of the film are far from ecstatic and have started demanding a compensation from the Superstar for their losses.

According to distributors, the film opened well for two days but from third day  collections are not at all encouraging  and they are paranoid about even recovering fifty percent of their investment!

Distributors say that theater owners are repeatedly calling them for compensation and they are not able to get proper response from Vendhar Movies who distributed the film in Tamil Nadu. Lingaa has also failed to take off in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra, according to trade reports.

Now the distributors have requested Rajinikanth to interfere and compensated the losses incurred to them. It is worth a mention that the Superstar has compensated distributors for his loss venture Baba.

In a statement, T Siva of Vendhar Movies said strict legal action would be taken against such persons, as collection figures released by them (Vendhar Movies) alone were authentic.

“It’s true that revenues were little less since the film hit the screens during half-yearly exam season and it was simultaneously released on more than 600 screens in Tamil Nadu. But starting Friday evening (December 19), people have been coming to theatres with their families and shows are house-full,” he added.

Though Vendhar Movies have issued a press statement stating that the film will be a profitable venture and not to believe the claims of fake distributors, some of the key area distributors have asked for police protection for their meeting plan with Rajinikanth at Sri Raghavendra Mandapam today at Chennai.

According to the petition given to Police commissioner, the distributors stated “We bought Lingaa for exorbitant price but the collections are not up to the mark so that the theater owners are pressurizing us. Regarding this matter, we are planning to meet Rajini at Raghavendra Mandapam and distributors across Tamil Nadu are attending the meeting, hence we seek a proper police protection”.

Looks like the Lingaa box office is like a maze that no one knows the real truth except for the producers and distributors involved.

We might get a clear picture after today’s meeting; keep tabbing this space for more updates.

‘Lingaa’ reviews upset Anushka

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FommqzNdhhhgbb_medium.jpg&hash=3effc38106d54c281573927cf75defe35a5f000f)

Lingaa, the much looked forward to Superstar film is running successfully, thouhg amidst mixed reviews. Then again, reviews never matter when it comes to Rajnikanth films. He appears in the film? Of course we’ll make it a hit. But the reviews seem to have hurt Anushka more than anyone, as most of the negative comments on social media have been about this actress.

The comments and reviews state that Anushka did not have much scope to shine with her acting in the film and also that she wore ill fitting outfits which did not suit her at all in Lingaa. Sources close to the actress said that this upset her very much, though she keeps up a brave front up for the public. Anushka feels that her lack of workouts is the reason and she has been really busy shooting for four films at the same time, namely, Yannai Arindhaal, Lingaa, Bahubali and Rudramdevi. This actress has promised herself that she will get back into shape after the shoots of the remaining three films and will be a show stopper in her upcoming film in Telugu for which the shoot is yet to begin.

Will Lingaa issues be resolved?!

Lingaa, the movie has been heading a lot of news headlines since Day One; with the case of authenticity of the name, the story and so on. The latest news circulating about Lingaa is regarding its income and losses. Rumors stated that the movie grossed over 100 crores in its first 3 days, but in reality, the movie did not do that well after the initial buzz and excitement of release. Sources close to the team also say that this is a rumor sourced by theater owners and that Lingaa is running well.

Attempts to meet Rajinikanth to speak about this has failed by many, but sources say that a final news about this Lingaa issue will be released by the team on Monday. It is believed the original budget of the film, the actual income or losses incurred, and much more will be answered then. Lingaa has been the talk of K town for the past couple of months and most queries have still gone unanswered. We look forward to Monday!

Distributors of 'Lingaa' come together for a hunger strike?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fommrxkibjbghj_small.jpg&hash=17b40006fe63647960f6f1702810c94119787109)

It is a well known fact that the distributors of Lingaa  who  brought the film ended up in huge loss but the producers have asked them to wait for some time and even promised that the film’s collection will pick up for Christmas holidays.

Now Singaravelan, TT area (Trichy-Tanjore) distributor of Lingaa has released an audio note stating that all area distributors and theater owners will be coming together for a hunger strike on January 10 at Valluvar Kottam, Chennai.

According to Singaveralan, till now Lingaa has gave them only 30% of their investment. The distributor also questioned the makers who shot the film with 45 crores has sold it for 220 crs but not caring for the losses incurred by the film.

We got back only 30% of our investment-Lingaa distributor

It looks like the dispute between the area wise distributors of Lingaa and its producers will never end. In a recent interaction, Singaravelan (Trichy- Tanjore) distributor has said that he and rest of the distributors in Tamil Nadu have got back only 30%  of their investment.

According to Singaravelan, he bought the Trichy –Tanjore are distribution rights for a whooping 8 cr but got back only 4.47 cr in the 21 days run of Lingaa and his share is just around 2.5 cr which is just 30% of the investment.

Singarvelan said “The makers of Lingaa told us that the film will be better than Endhiran and Padayappa which is analogous to the protagonist of Sathuranga Vettai conning innocent people”.

Singaravelan also says that he and all the distributors of Lingaa will come together for one day hunger strike in Valluvar Kottam, Chennai and they have already requested permission from Chennai commissioner.

Police grants permission for Lingaa distributors

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2Fom3ol8bccibfa_small.jpg&hash=720e84a1c8b736a551d743a444f1fe63030d8212)

Even after its release Lingaa is running into problems, as reported earlier the distributors of Lingaa were constantly behind the superstar ever since the movie did not meet their expectations rather monetarily. Now with back to back movies being released, even the multiplexes have reduced the screenings.

The distributors have now planned to stage a fast in Chennai to seek Rajini’s intervention in getting back their money. The Chennai city police has granted permission to the distributors to stage a fast on the 10th of January.
The claim from the distributors is that the movie suffered drastic losses in spite the fact that they paid high prices for their rights.

Why are distributors blackmailing Rajinikanth?

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FomkssTdgdjfdf_small.jpg&hash=13c56d2d427bdafdccce3cfd857c2e24fccdfa43)

Some background – 'Lingaa' is an out-and-out Rajinikanth film and is based along the same lines as the massive super-hit 'Sivaji'. Audiences however were not impressed and the film bombed at the box office. The issue should have ended there.

However, in a sadly anticipated twist, distributors and theater owners, who allegedly suffered losses of 40 crores, have not only asked Rajini for the money back, but have also threatened to go on a hunger strike.

This is blackmail, pure and simple. The line is simple – give us money otherwise we will cause trouble. Isn’t this the same logic that mafia dons use?

Let us make one thing clear – the only reason that Rajinikanth is being asked to pay for distributor losses is because he paid them in 2002 for 'Baba' and in 2008 for 'Kuselan'.

He paid people back for 'Baba' because perhaps at the time he felt it was the moral thing to do – since he was the script writer and the producer as well.

For 'Kuselan', he paid back because he felt he had misled distributors, who thought they were buying the Superstar's film, when in reality he only guest-starred in it.

If he had not done the decent thing then, out of his own free will, he would not be facing this ugly situation today. After all, many films by many actors flop. But why is Rajinikanth always supposed to be financially responsible for his films?

Hits and flops are the nature of the game in cinema. If someone buys distribution rights of a film for Rs one crore and the film then goes on to become a sleeper hit that rakes in Rs 100 crores, will the same distributors give the filmmakers a higher payment, since the results were unexpected? Obviously not. Or if they have ever done such a thing, it has not been made public.

To be clear – Rajinikanth is not the producer of the film. The film was produced by Rockline Productions. The film was not directed by Rajnikanth. It was directed by K. S. Ravikumar. And it was not written by Rajinikanth. It was written by Cheyyar Arun and Pon Kumaran.

Rajinikanth was the lead hero of the film and that’s it. Like every one else, he came, did his job and left with his payment.

Why is Rajinikanth responsible for the film’s fate?

None of the people involved with the film have particularly bad reputations. Rockline Productions has had several blockbusters in the Kannada film industry. Ravikumar as a director, has a resume that goes back to the 90s and is quite decent in the hit/flop ratio. As an example, he was the director of 'Dasavathaaram' (staring Kamal Haasan), 'Aethirree' (with R.Madhavan) and 'Villain' (starring Ajith).

And Rajinikanth is…well…Rajinikanth. The film had everything going for it.

If it flopped, then its mistakes and shortcomings can be analysed and pointed out, just like every film is criticized.

However, it stretches the imagination to expect Rajinikanth to somehow magically be responsible for the fate of the film. Was the film supposed to be some National Award winning classic, and Rajini's influence directly lead to its flop?

The only plausible way in which the actor of a film can be held responsible for the film's fate is if some major scandal by the actor caused the film to be canceled or if the actor personally went to every theater and forced people to NOT watch the film.

Clearly Rajinikanth did neither.

Also, if you look at the issue logically – the fault is the distributors alone. Why would they pay such a high price, just because the film stars Rajinikanth? His films have flopped, sometimes very badly, in the past. And while his name does draw crowds, it is up to the distributor to make an informed choice. The fact is that they blindly paid whatever amount was asked of them. And now they want to blackmail Rajinikanth into bankrolling their foolishness.

I wonder if we, the audience, can be allowed to treat them this way? Let's say we go to a theater of theirs, watch the film and then demand the ticket price back because we didn’t like the film. Will they give us the money back if we go on a hunger strike?

Sadly, this attempt by the distributors to pressure Rajinikanth only proves one thing – If you do something once for the sake of decency, then you will be exploited again and again.

After obtaining the permission from the commissioner, the distributors of Kanyakumar, North Arcot, South Arcot, and Madurai are staging a protest at Valluvar Kottam today. They request Rajinikanth to take a look at this issue and find a solution to compensate the loss for ‘Lingaa’.

Seeman has extended his support to the distributors  and Velmurugan, who rose to fame by protesting against ‘Kaththi’s release is expected to attend the protest in the evening. The distributors’ have clearly mentioned that they aren’t demanding compensation from Rajinikanth, but they are expecting him to guide them to the producer, so that they can claim their loss.

In the history of Tamil Cinema, this is the first time that the industry is facing these kind of protest from the distributors.

Distributors of Lingaa were present in Chennai for a hunger strike. Speaking at the event, representatives said that Rajinikanth should immediately intervene and solve the issue, otherwise their next step will be sitting for a hunger strike along with their families. (In pic: Rockline Venkatesh)

According to the distributors, the film has brought nearly 39 crs loss to them while the high level business heads including Eros International, Rockline and Vendhar Movies have earned nearly 220 crs. Distributors say that they bought Lingaa for Rajinikanth’s name and now he should take steps to compensate the losses.

Mean while, fans of Rajinikanth are irked by the distributor’s claims and they are blaming the high ticket rates sold by the distributors is the main reason for the film’s loss. “If distributors sold the ticket rates at a nominal price suggested by Tamil Nadu government, then people would have visited the theaters but hiking “ said Nellai Rajinikanth fans club head.

As a matter of fact, Nellai Rajinikanth’s fans club head has said in a statement that if distributors continue their fake claims then they will organize all fans and initiate a protest against the distributors.

Lingaa producer Rockline Venkatesh's reply to distributors

(https://friendstamilchat.in/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.sify.com%2Fcms%2Fimage%2FpbllODighgdjd.jpg&hash=514731daa2660a246e481fa1655a06d0b1c713a2)

After the hunger strike of Lingaa' distributors in Chennai, the film's producer Rockline Venkatesh met the media and revealed the facts from his side.

Rockline Venkatesh said "When Singaravelan was sabotaging the film with his negative comments in You Tube; I met Rajinikanth and expressed my disappointment but Superstar asked me to not feel for Singaravelan's words which came out of frustration and said that after four or five weeks of Lingaa's run, we can do something which will make the distributors happy".

As Singaravelan pointed out that December 12 is not a National holiday and cited the release date as a reason for the losses, producer raised couple of serious questions to him. “We have announced the release date of Lingaa way back during the shooting and all the distributors are aware of it. Did any forced Singaravelan to buy the film even after knowing that the release dates?” Venkatesh also requested Singaravelan to stop ruining Rajinikanth’s image.

In a reply to Singaravelan's claim that Lingaa's producer himself hired some fake writer to file a case for the film's publicity, Venkatesh said "Why would I go for a cheap publicity, when I'm having Superstar on board".

"Singaravelan is saying that the first day shows of Lingaa got minimum occupancy, do you all believe his claims?" questioned Rockline Venkatesh.

The producer moved to tears and broke down when he explained how Singaravelan's comments murdered the film. "Now Singaravelan has killed the film, will I get another chance to produce a film like this?  I agree that our film might not have met the expectations but what's the necessity to spread hatred within five days of the release? Only a real producer like me will know the pain" said the anguished producer.

Venkatesh openly asked Singaravelan to produce proof of him earning 220 crs out of 45 crs budget invested for Lingaa. "If Singaravelan proved my 175 crs earnings from Lingaa, I'm ready to compensate his losses and if he can't prove, then he should openly announce his apology in front of the media" concluded the producer.

Distributors deny Vijay's involvement in 'Lingaa' loss fiasco

After Rockline Venkatesh’s outburst, the distributors met the press yesterday and clarified certain things about their stand. Singaravelan, the Trichy-Tanjore area distributor said “I never abused Rajinikanth in my statement and if there is one word which hurt Rajinikanth then it would be question ‘Whether Rajini’s birthday is a National holiday to release Lingaa’ and I’m openly apologizing for it, the statement came out of frustration”.

When the reporters asked whether the distributors are acting as per the advice of actor Vijay to defame Rajinikanth? The distributors denied and said “We mentioned Vijay’s Kaththi because it is the big film of 2014 and there is no motive behind it”.

The distributors added “The same Vendhar Movies Siva got Rs 5 crores as compensation from Vijay for Thalaivaa’s loss, Ajith did Billa in order to settle the losses causes by Red and Anjaan losses are also settled.  Asking a compensation from a top hero film is not new to Tamil cinema”.

Distributors also revealed that Vendhar Movies has recently invited all of them to their office and asked to write an apology letter so that they can move forward for compensation but the distributors refused to submit their apology letter as they feel that they have not commited any crime.

Protesting distributors of ‘Lingaa’ clarified on Monday evening that actor Vijay was not instigating their agitation. They refuted some reports in this regard. Speaking to reporters in Chennai on Monday evening, the distributors said they would undergo fast unto death if they are not compensated by the film’s producer and super distributor.

They also made charges made by ‘Lingaa’ producer Rockline Venkatesh. On Saturday, these distributors conducted a dawn to dusk hunger strike at Nungambakkam, you may recall.

If industry sources are to be believed, Rajinikanth has asked famous distributor Tiruppur Subramaniyam to estimate the amount of money to be refunded to the distributors who bought Lingaa.

It has to be remembered that the same Tiruppur Subramaniyam estimated and settled the loss amount to the distributors who earlier bought Rajini's Baba and Kuselan.

ight from the beginning, Rajini didn't show much interest on the Lingaa loss issue but this news on Rajini' intervention has certainly brought cheer to distributors.

Earlier Lingaa's distributors planned for a huge hunger strike, now it looks like the protest will be cancelled.

We had earlier reported about Rajinikanth's intervention in returning the losses incurred to the distributors of Lingaa.

After receiving authenticate reports from an ace distributor Thiruppur Subramaniyam, Rajinikanth is said to have sent the loss report to Rockline Venkatesh to know how much he could contribute.

Rockline Venkatesh in turn is said to have approached Eros who bought the entire theatrical rights of Lingaa and resold it to various parties for a fancy price.

It is said that word from Eros international is not encouraging. Being a corporate house, they are in no mood to settle the losses.

Now it looks like the distributors have to wait little longer to get their compensation.

It is well known that the Tamil Nadu distributors of Lingaa were demanding compensation for their losses and they believed that Rajinikanth's intervention would give the much needed relief.

To the distributors' misfortune, Eros International who bought the all India distribution rights have refused to compensate and Lingaa's producer Rockline Venkatesh said that he could compensate only 10% of the loss.

Refusing Venkatesh's offer, now distributors have decided for 'begging bowl' protest and they are planning to start their protest from Rajinikanth's house at Poes garden.

Distributors also said that a famous politician will be kick starting their protest. Now it looks like the whole Lingaa issue gets ugly by the day.

Following distributors’ decision of going for a ‘begging bowl’ protest in front of Superstar Rajinikanth’s house, now Tamil Film Producers’ council have issued a statement condemning the distributors.

The statement reads “In past, 97% of Rajinikanth’s films were box office success and fetched profits for the theatre owners and distributors. Now if Lingaa incurred losses, distributors and theatre owners should have arranged for proper talks to solve their issue. Instead, protesting against Rajinikanth and degrading his name with ‘begging bowl’ protest is against our professional ethics”.

Producers ‘council also condemned distributors for bringing in political leaders in the Lingaa loss issue.

Now a political party called Hindu Maha Sabha has issued a statement which reads “When the distributors invested based on Rajinikanth’s name, there is nothing wrong  in protesting against the actor “.

“It is our prime duty to protect 500 theater owners and nine distributors. We will oppose people who betray these distributors and theater owners” said the statement.

The political party also said that they will support the begging bowl protest which is to be organized by the distributors.

Recently, Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) condemned distributors’ decision of protesting against Rajinikanth and degrading his name on the Lingaa loss issue. The producers’ council also opposed distributors’ strategy of inviting political parties to support their protest against the makers of Lingaa.

Now the distributors have issued a befitting reply to the producers’ council by saying “Why producers’ council is supporting Rockline Venkatesh  who is not a member of TFPC. Also in Tamil Nadu both cinema and politics are amalgamated, so political parties’ intervention in Lingaa fiasco is inevitable”.

“In past Rajinikanth came forward and settled the losses of Baba and Kuselan, same goes to Kamal Haasan who shared the losses of Hey Ram and Mumbai Express. Many such on the record and off the record compensations have happened in the past and the producers’ council is very much aware of those incidents” said the statement.

“Had both producers and distributors equally incurred losses, then claiming the compensation is unfair but in case of Lingaa, we are just asking them to share their profit.   Instead of adding insult to our injury, do support our ahimsa protest “said the statement issued by the distributors.

Ban to criticize and protest against Rajinikanth

On hearing Lingaa producer Rockline Venkatesh’s plea, Bangalore Court has issued a ban to distributors to not protest, criticize and talk against Lingaa issue and Rajinikanth to media.

Right from the first week of Lingaa release, the distributors have brought the loss issue to media and demanded compensation from its makers.

As the issue reached its peak, Rockline Venkatesh filed a case on February 20 stating that the distributors are pressurizing his production house and also degrading Rajinikanth’s name. The producer has also requested in his plea that court should ban the distributors’ protests, interviews to media and harsh criticisms against his production house and Rajinikanth.

Now as the court has banned distributors’ protest, it will be a huge setback to them. Mean time, Nadigar Sangam’s President Sarath Kumar is holding talks with distributors to settle the issue amicably.

'Lingaa' problem is not yet settled, thanks to the internal disputes?

When everyone thought that the Lingaa loss issue has been amicably settled, here comes another controversy.

According to the distributors Rajinikanth and Rockline Venkatesh have given 12.5 crores as compensation but now distributors are unhappy with various third party involvement including Tirupur Subramaniyan (ace distributor and Rajinikanth's close associate).

The statement issued by Chengalpattu distributor Mannan, North Arcot- South Arcot distributor Krishna Kumar and Tiruneveli distributor Ruben has strongly condemned the involvement of Tirupur Subramaniyan and directly asked the producers to distribute the loss share to all the theater owners and distributors of Lingaa.

It is known that Rajinikanth’s Lingaa caused a huge loss to the distributors and they even announced ‘begging bowl’ protest in front of Superstar’s house.

Later with series of talks, the issue was amicably settled as Rajini agreed to settle Rs 12.5 crs out of the total loss amount of Rs 33 crs.

Now sources say that 6 crs of the total amount has been settled so far and only distributors like Singaravelan who spearheaded the protest campaign only have got their settlement.

Today (May 26), the rest of the distributors will be meeting the media and reveal the details on behind the stage talks happened during Lingaa settlement.

Distributors have requested Rajini to involve in this issue and settle the remaining 6.5crs without fail otherwise the distributors council is planning to give a ‘Red card’ to Rajinikanth and his films.

Distributors of Lingaa have again taken the loss issue in hands and they are demanding Rajinikanth to settle the remaining 6.5 crs  amount.

It is said that the total loss amount offered to distributors is 12.5 crs but till now they have got only 6 crs and the remaining amount is yet to be settled.

Thiruppur Subramaniyam who mediated in the Lingaa issue said that Rockline Venkatesh will settle the remaining amount after his daughter’s marriage.

Mean time, distributors want Rajinikanth to act in a minimum budget film for Vendhar Movies so that theater owners’ losses will be compensated.

If Rajini fails to do a movie for Vendhar Movies, distributors want him to give another 15 crores to offset the losses of theater owners who bought Lingaa.

'Lingaa' distributors demand Rs 15 Crore more!

Rajinikanth is all set to face the camera once again in Pa Ranjith directed film, but the financial issues related his previous film, Lingaa , which bombed at the box office, refuse to die down.

On Wednesday (June3) theatre owners, who bought the film on a minimum guarantee basis (non-refundable advance), demanded that they be given a further compensation of Rs. 15 crore. After persistent protests, actor Rajinikanth had agreed to pay back Rs 12.5 crore.

“Those who purchased the film thinking that they would get a minimum guarantee have not been compensated. So, we want Rajinikanth to intervene and settle the issue in one week, failing which we will protest in front of his house,” said Singaravelu, the controversial (Trichy-Tanjore) distributor.

He further added that only a part of the Rs. 12.5-crore compensation, which was promised, has been settled. “We have received only Rs. 6 crore,” he said.

Tirupur Subramanian, a distributor close to Rajinikanth, who was entrusted with the job of settling the dues, said that the demands were over the top and it was highly unlikely that they will be met. “The total loss runs to the tune of Rs. 34 crore. Rajinikanth has done his best,” he said.  Subramanian added that he is yet to receive the balance funds from the producer of Lingaa.
